it will contain characters having brisk conversations while walking down long hallways in immaculate clipped, Mamet-like rhythms that are totally un-lifelike. But that's only if Sorkin's latest batch of 'shrooms are kickin' in. A movie about FB? Will the audience get "poked" while watching it?

Sorkin's Comment on the Nature of the Film
by SamSeaborn
Jun 23rd, 2009
06:10:26 PM
Sorkin created a facebook page where he has been answering questions from fans about this project, and his many past projects. He wrote that the story of the film will not be about Facebook, but rather the story of how a college sophomore created what became the largest social networking website in the world from his dorm room. Think more of a college-set story, centering on the life of Zuckerberg in college, starting up the website with his friends.

This would make more since if Fincher was angling for some kind of executive producer role on a made-for-cable "award bait" flick. It doesn't make sense as a theatrical beast, because I just don't see audiences in this economy, however much they might use social networking sites, interested in paying $12 to see how a bunch of people became millionaires on the backs our collective technology addictions.

FOX is keeping Avatar footage from us!
by Trannyformers_Apologist
Jun 23rd, 2009
06:47:12 PM
3 full scenes from Avatar were shown at Fox's presentation today at Cinema Expo.

-This may be obvious, but Fox has confirmed they will not be releasing the clips online, as that "is not how one should be experiencing it."

-Jim tells me that Fox has given him official confirmation of the footage showing. Hopefully they will provide us with some more details soon!

-Multiple sources are saying that Cameron and all the lead actors were there. I'm hearing that Worthington, Weaver, and Saldana were present.

-According to a friend of firstshowing.net webmaster Alex Billington, Cameron told the crowd that "3D is here and here to stay."

-Alex: He kept teling me that it's "truly unlike anything you've ever seen." First public(ish) showing of Avatar footage seems to be amaazing.

you are correct, it is facebook that was allegedly stolen. I can't be bothered to track it down right now, but there was a good piece in Rolling Stone about it. The story goes, that three or four friends started writing the code and what not as a school project, and then at some point Zuckerberg basically ripped off the work and launched it with his own name. Now, according the same article, the guys claiming to be ripped off, don't really have any proof, and none of the people who knew what Zuckerberg was up to, knew about the other's alleged involvement, so i'd be surprised if they delved into that in the movie.

Okay, so that parody lasted only 20 minutes or so. But they managed to squeeze in how the social website takes ownership of user contributions, subliminal product placement, stalking, and so forth.

So I suppose a movie could be done. Heck, if Sorkin & Fincher did it, I would watch it when it came to basic cable.
