Oh, the memories come so fast once it's all over. Sitting home, buried under piles of covers in 1994 on sickdays, watching Tom, Crow and Mike(and Joel). Oh, I laughed so hard. I almost ruptured my lung when watching MST3K when I had bronchitis. But now it's all gone, and what a fitting end it was.

Alas, I discovered the brilliance of this program far too late. My attention span was not long enough for the opening door sequence, so I always flipped the channel. I have seen the error of my ways, but too late to enjoy all the fruits of MST3K. Sorrow.
Farewell, friends. Enjoy the show.

I still remember seeing my first episode of MST3K. It was in a motel room in Arizona, on my way to college. The movie that night was the Return of Fu Manchu. I just about died. It was the funniest thing in the world (of course everything's funny when you've been driving all day and its 2 o'clock in the morning). I remember it used to be real hard to catch the show (not everybody carried Comedy Central). It was a great run. I don't know what we'll do with all those bad movies now. At least the SciFi.com website crashed. Maybe they'll change their minds (but probably not).

It was a great sendoff for a great show, but I'm still going to miss it. This was the funniest, most creative show there was (paticularly on the sci-fi channel) and Mike, Joel and the bots will always hold a special place in my heart.

The last show? Excellent. The best one this season, no doubt. It helps when the source material is so ripe. "Is that stud coming?!" As for it coming back...I wouldn't put money on it. From what I've heard and read, the guys and gals are looking for work elsewhere, and hell, they're auctioning off the set like gangbusters. If it ever came back, it would be a totally new situation, like MST: The Next generation, just because getting all the people back together would be nigh impossible. But let's face it, it's been cancelled twice already in, what, two years? Most people (less intelligent ones, mind you) just don't get it. Since most of the people running the business end of showbizness are all in the "less intelligent people" side of the bell-curve, they don't get it. And what they don't get, the dumber American people surely don't get. No, this is MST3K's final rest. As sad as it is, it's over. Now, all we have are over-priced videocassettes to sate us...

Another episode for the tape vault, a classic like the ones before it. My wife and I were almost a little misty at the end since we started watching MST3K before we were even married. Now unless Sci-Fi starts showing G vs. E in the MST3K time slot, COMCAST can simply remove sci-fi from the basic cable line up as far as I'm concerned.

It is sad to see MST3K go off the air(for real). This movie was an atrocious movie, and some of the jokes were good, but I personally think that Laserblast (#706) was much better, the jokes were better, and the cutscenes were better. For me the cutscenes in Diabolik just were not that funny. It has been a good nine year run, and I will miss the program dearly. Hopefully someone somewhere will show the old Comedy Central episodes.

Agreed, it wasn't Laserblast....but it was among the TOP TEN stinkiest MST3K films.... All I can say is- MIKE N THE GANG: Have a great time sippin down brewskies and bathing in your half-tub! ...and... RIP: MST3K....there will never be another like it...

What other television show in history could have made me buy a used copy of the original Mitchell I found at a local video store for five dollars? I've never even watched it, it's so bad, but it's one of my most prized posessions. It's distributed by 'Bingo Video' and on the cover it says "When Mitchell is on the case, action and excitement are job one!" I have nothing more to say... I think you all know the loss I feel tonight.

MST3K will go down as one of the difinitive shows of my generation. To show my appreciation to the Scifi Channel for cancelling on of my favorite shows I am orginizing a boycott of the channel. This isn't one of those boycott until they give us what we want things because MST3K isn't coming back, this is forever. I will only watch reruns of MST3K, and the one new episode left. I have been watching Mystery Science Theater since 1991 and have become too attached to just let go with out at least reruns of all the seasons. MST3K will live forever.

I'll give a million space-bucks to the person who can tell me what the episode is where the three maroons reviewed a movie entitled (I believe) "Puma-Man" or something to that affect. It was possibly the worst/silliest thing I'd seen ever. I'd give real money (as opposed to fictionalized space bucks) to have a copy of it. Thanks bunches.

Man, this sucks that the show is ending. I thought it was one of the only decent shows left on the airwaves. As for the final episode, I thought it was great. Not a masterpiece, but a worthy way to end the series. I'm really gonna miss this show. Any word of reruns? I hope so. I think the Sci-Fi channel has the rights until like 2001, so let's hope so. There's a lot of episodes I missed, so hopefully they'll have reruns. I hope they're showed at night, because that is the best time to show them. I can't watch MST3K at 11 in the morning. It just isn't a "morning" thing for me. Well, I wish the cast and crew the best of luck in the future! Thanks for giving us such a wonderful show!!!! Hope to see you in other circumstances! Good luck!!!!!

I'm sad. Depressed even. MST3K started before most of us even heard of the internet. MST3k has been the one constant in our lives. I'm most dissapointed in myself because I didn't take MST3K seriously in its early years and thus haven't seen many from the first have of the decade. However I am happy that MST3K didn't die on the Comdey Channel. I am happy that it did last 10 years. 10 GOOD years. The show ended on an up note. It wasn't dragged on for years and years past its prime. I really doubt any show I enjoy will ever do that again. There was a good MST3K movie. Something that the likes of WWW will never know. (Infact the WWW should be ON MST3k but thats another matter) And I'm happy that Diabolik was the last episode. A movie whose destiny was to be on a MST3K. Possibly the best ending zinger of any MST3K. I'm also sure we haven't heard the last of Mike & the bots. While I think that MST3K has met its end, I'm sure the concept will return in (booming voice) THE FUTURE WORLD OF TOMORROW!! Thanks for all the laughs.

All I can say is the finale of MST3K was...great and wonderfully smart and hilarious! Way better than the finales of Seinfeld and Home Improvement. A great final bad movie to be watched, the jokes were good enough to rank with those from the Comedy Central years. The host segments were wonderful to watch (enjoyed the going to Earth song) and especially liked the show's refrence/parody of the Mary Tyle Moore show finale (it's a long way to tipperary) and the final scene in which Mike and the bots on Earth find themselves watching the 1st movie MST3K first mocked was a great coming full circle scene. Thanks MST3K for everthing. You've been one of the top 5 best TV shows of all-time and one the best sci-fi/comedy shows and I'll miss you. May all who made MST3K what it was and worked on the show all those 9 years, live on and have good fortune in their post MST3K-lives.

This last year and a half has seen the end of many excellent shows...Babylon 5, Deep Space Nine, Homicide, Crusade...And now Mystery Science Theater 3000. All have ended in fire or ice, and all will be missed dearly. I started watching MST3K in 1991 when Comedy Central played it on fridays at 10 am. I was sick that day with Chicken Pox and the movie was First Rocketship on Venus. I will NEVER forget that movie. Was anyone else singing the Beastie Boys "Body Movin'" while this show played? ps can anyone send me all four sets of lyrics to the theme song?

I love MST3K. I'm going to miss it. But at least the ending was great, and appropriate. I enjoyed it. Oh, and a little trivia. The sex on the turning bed with the money was the inspiration for the turning bed in the original Austin Powers movie. Mike Meyers said it in the supplementary audio commentary on the DVD.

What a great show. I have seen this evolve since it was a crappyy late night production on an even worse UHF station. Even though the writing has gone a little down hill, it still kicks ass. The best part had to have been, "Is that stud coming?" Good Lord, what a line! It's almost as good as "I couldn't get laid in a whorehouse with a handful of $50 bills."

Oh man... What can I say that hasn't been said better already? The gang over at BBI gave us a decade of Real Comedy(tm)that I'll never forget. Little gems like Trumpy, Ator, wondering what a SAMPO! was, Torgo, Joel adding milk to a box of hamsters, Gutterspouts for your umbrella, weirwulvs, eye-creatures, the "Ode to Kim Cattrall", hell, even the "Ode to that lady from Bewitched". So many things to remember. A toast out to BBI, go get a beer and some white rice, pop in a bad movie, (Or watch any movie/show that airs on Sci-Fi, the two are synonymous) and do your best to tear it apart. Let's try to recreate some of that magic for ourselves, gang, and best wishes to Mike and the bots...I'll drop by with some Teriyaki chicken sometime, or something...

Well, my second favorite TV show (after THE SIMPSONS) ended last night. MST3K is no more. It was a fitting end to perhaps the funniest and most brilliantly written show on TV. I especially liked the ending, which came full circle, when the now earthbound Mike, Crow, and Servo settle down in front of the tube...and watch THE CRAWLING EYE, the very first movie to be lampooned on MST3K in November, 1989. I've been a diehard fan since then (when I was in eighth grade), and I have to admit: those tears coming out of my eyes last night weren't ALL from laughing. This show will truly be missed. Thank you Joel, Mike, Kevin, Trace, Frank, Mary Jo, Bill, Paul, Bridget, Jim, and everyone else behind and in front of the camera for ten years of laughs. You guys truly are a class act.

After years of wearing my MST3K: The Movie shirt and having people ask, " What the hell is THAT ?" a piece of TV history breathes it's last. The final was fun and the post-script, truly Seinfeld-esk. PERSONAL TEARY EYE MEMORY MOMENT: I forget the film, some bad '50's noir crime opus, but I couldn't figure out why the 'bots were quacking. After the fourth viewing, I FINALLY noticed the picture of ducks outside the room, only visible when the door was open. I laughed so hard my 3 year old looked up from his toys to see what was so funny. Now, at some VERY inappropriate moments, he'll quack just to watch me break up. Fare thee well, MSTI's.. and will I still get a cataloge ?

Well, my all-time favortie show ended last night. I think I need some Dizzy Grizzlies for the trauma I'm experiencing.I started watching in late 1994 on Comedy Central. I was working late and came home and saw "Hellcats." I never laughed so hard in my life. Unfortunately, I didn't realize unitl it was too late that I should've been taping all those old Joel episodes while CC was still re-running them. If anyone out there has them, I would be very interested in trading. It's especially important that I get some more tapes to watch now that the show is over. Ah,the cold irony of saying goodbye to my favorite show on the eve of the return of my favorite football team. I'd like to join everyone else in thanking the folks at BBI for 10 wonderful years. I remember something Joel said on that behind the scenes special on the show "We don't wonder who's going to get our jokes, the right people will get our jokes." For the run of the series the show never wavered from that mindset. The 10th season proved that MST3K was just as strong as ever. I would love to see SciFi's ratings...lousy programming scumbags.I have to believe that MST3K is one of its higher rated programs. I guess it really doesn't matter now. When "Laserblast" aired, I knew the show would be coming back. Only a miracle and a change of heart could save it now. I don't think I could take saying goodbye again anyway. Here's hoping they update the episode guide and that Rhino keeps releasing the tapes. Good luck in all that you do guys!

Well, it's nice to know that I wasn't the only one in tears last night. I never thought that I would get so emotional over a tv show. My personal favorite line of last night "If Hitler had won and Stu Sutcliffe had been his designer". I've had shows i liked get canceled before, but this one hurts the most. It's not simply because it was my favorite, but because there's nothing else on the air like it. Where else can we turn to see bad movies get slammed? There's nothing to take its place. Unlike the average fan of mediocre tv, who simply watches Suddenly Susan to take the place of Murphy Brown, we msties have nowhere to go. I guess we should do as Pearl said: "Move on! I am!" But that's easier said than done. It will probably only be a number weeks until I break down and build my own bots out of coffee cans, toilet paper, foil, and other household junk. Then I will wonder downtown in a grimy jumpsuit to the local theatre and will scream drunken obscenities at Runaway Bride until the management calls the cops. Anyway, thanks to everyone at BBI for ten wonderful years. This was a a great show to grow up with. WATCH OUT FOR SNAKES! p.s. -- if anyone out there has a copy of Hercules Unchained, I would be extremely interested in trading. I have most of seasons 5-10 on vhs plus several of the rhino videos. I salute thee, MST3K. You shall be missed. And, in tribute, I'm going to pop in my copy of "The Guyver" and do my best to carry on the tradition... This would be a good time for someone to start humming the music from the final Babylon 5 episode, by the way. Hell, as long as I'm hopped up on Dr. Pepper, I might as well deliver a new version of the final B5 speech: "Mystery Science Theater 3000 was the last of the great comedy shows. There would never be another. It taught us that we had to lampoon bad movies... or the studios would just make more. It taught us that we have to care for our bootleg Comedy Central episodes... because if we don't, who will? And that the greatest laughs sometimes come from the most unlikely places (Cable). Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope that there can always be the seed of humor, even in the very worst movies. As for Mike and the 'bots... every Sunday before GvsE they would get rice and beer and make fun of a bad movie." Adios!

I have never felt such emotion over the cancelling of a TV show before, but MST3K was more like an old friend than a TV show. I agree with the above postings that "Diabolik" was probably one of the funniest episodes they have ever done. I'm gratified that they went out on such a high note. (SPOILER AHEAD!!! for those who haven't seen it yet) To see Mike and the 'Bots finally free from thier years of celluloid hell only to kick back on the couch and rip on "The Crawling Eye" (MST's first film) was a hillarious and touching end to one of the best shows ever! I just hope Best Brains brings the crew of MST back together for some other project, the current breed of hack writers for network sit-coms could learn a lot from them.

I loved this show, and will treasure it always. The show would often wear me out so that by the end I just could not laugh anymore. "Horror of Spider Island" was as funny as any Joel episode. There was just one thing I would have liked to see in the final episode... when they made their final descent, the actual crash landing of the SOL was not shown - you just saw them screaming, and the screen whited out. I really thought they would do an extended special effects crash...thrilling panning shots of the SOL sliding down fishing line, snapping off the trees like they was bonzai'd ornaments on a dry-wobble landscape... you know, a classic drawn-out "big ship crashing" sequence, in cheezy Gizmonic style. True, there were a couple of effects shots of the SOL losing parts... but the crash landing itself would have been so cool to see. Hi Keeba. In any case, Mike & the gang, I will never, ever forget you.

I think DIABOLIK too good a movie to be MST3K's last. It may not be top-line Mario Bava but it's still Bava. I found it one of the two weakest episodes of this season ( the other being HAMLET ) as far as the riffing went, way below the what I think of as the Slack-Jawed Crackers Trilogy of BLOOD WATERS OF DR Z, BOGGY CREEK 2 and SQUIRM--the hilights of this last season. Maybe I was just too filled with sadness to fully appreciate it. Subsequent viewings maybe will change my opinion of it. It's happened before. MSTs always get better with repeated viewings. This was a show that should have ran forever; at least until Best Brains themselves decided to end it. What other shows do you feel that way about? Seinfeld? Certainly The Simpsons. Rarified company indeed. I know it's a long shot, but I still have hope that something will happen. There has to be an outlet for a guy and his 'bots to shoot holes through the not-so-great and the downright crap that festoons our TVs and theatres. There has to be somewhere for them to continue. Just has to be. Thanks, Best Brains. For Mitchell and Jan in the Pan and The Dead who may or may not Talk Back; thank you for Eegah and Crankor and Ortega and Torgo. Thanks for showing us that ATTACK OF THE THE EYE CREATURES director Larry Buchanan "just doesn't care!" And thanks, Sci Fi, for showing us that you don't care either. Must be catching, since I don't seem to care anything about Sci Fi Channel anymore... It's great to see no arguments here, just great commentaries on a wonderful show. (I'm really glad I'm not the only one who got choked up) I don't think my husband really understood how I could get emotional over some robots and a guy in a jumpsuit...but I did. You can find some of the comedy central era on tapes at Suncoast (over-priced of course). For the record, once the sci-fi channel stops showing re-runs, I will not be watching them again.

Diabolik, though not amongst my bosom clutching favorites for this season, was a good, solid episode. IMO, there haven't been any bad ones in season ten, and maybe only one mediocre one (for me this would be Future War. But only maybe.) I'm really glad that if the show has to end that it went out freak flag wavin' and full of sass and dignity. Thanks Brains. (This is too sad, man.)

Well, MST3K is off the air. For real this time, it looks. Though there were some rumors that AMC might pick up the show, it looks like efforts to save the show failed. The direct appeal to Barry Diller (head of USA networks and owner of the Sci-Fi Channel) apparently fell on deaf ears, so he joins Doug Herzog in the MST3K Hall of Infamy. The show itself was nothing special. In fact, I personally thought it was among the weakest offerings of the Sci-Fi era. The Host Segments were top notch, but the riffs were weak. Laserblast was indeed funnier. Well, looks like this the real end. The Satellite has been destroyed, Pearl, Bobo, and Brain Guy have gone there seperate ways, and Gypsy is now a multi-Millionare. And the show ended the way it should have- Mike and the 'bots doing what they do best, and Mike getting to enjoy a little rice.

Minneapolis, musta been early '80s I think. The Comedy Powers That Be notice that Joel's goofy, twisted prop-based standup act is making club audiences all over the country piss themselves laughing. Hoarywood offers him his own sitcom. Joel makes the only decision he can--he quits the biz to be a carpenter. We mourn the loss, but only until he resurfaces on some cheesy little Twin Cities UHF station with some cheesy little show that was too bad/good for "regular" TV. Though my little B&W set barely picked up Channel 23, the sick brilliance of the show came through loud and clear. Even after its edge was blunted by Joel's departure and the fucked-up new set, it was still one of the greatest stoopid fun shows ever, and I will miss it. RIP, SOL. Push the button, Frank.

MST3K has always been a square peg for TV people enamored with round holes. This became especially clear on the last days of Sci-Fi. They never understood it. Before Herzog CC understood. To me, what makes this a great mistake is that MST3K had a fanatically loyal audience that was not merely GLUED to the set, they taped the show. And we comprised primo demographics. In this day and age of clicking mania, that should have been factored into their decisionmaking. Now... Now we watch formulaic sitcoms, and derivative dramas brimming with preachy crap. But we shall always remember the liberating truth Joel, Mike, the `bots and even the mads taught us... Mockery is the best weapon against schlock. Be forever Satelite of Love.

I'm surprised that a show that had to be relatively inexpensive to produce and was scheduled well out of prime time was cancelled. Maybe, dare I say it, Sci Fi simply thought it had run its course creatively. I was a "casual" viewer. If I was home and if I remembered it was on and if there wasn't anything else on I'd watch. And enjoy. But a steady diet (every week) was a little much to take. Hopefully we can look forward to seeing some of the talented people involved move on to other projects.

it's great to finally see a talkback with a minimum number of imbeciles starting a hate-campaign. MST3K will be sorely missed. Thanks for the memories all you best brainers... the love for this show is apparent, thanks to the civility and positive feedback in this talkback section. despite that one feeble attempt to get a rise out of somebody, it has been a nice change of pace from the usual bickering (notice that even Star Wars and Star Trek postings tend to get a little ...umm..confrontational?)

I've been a big fan of MST3K for several years now. It's passing is bittersweet as I feel it's lost some steam the last couple of years. I really wish somebody would acquire the rights to the Comedy Central episodes. It would be great to see the Godzilla and Gamera episodes again as well as classics like "The Dead Talk Back" and of course "Manos: The Hands of Fate". It's ashame that you can only see a select few of these on videotape while the rest sit on a shelf somewhere.

All you people who've at least seen the show should be thankful that you GET those lousy channels...stupid local cable provider.... all I've seen is MST3K the Movie and the MST3K Shorts from Rhino (both of which, by the way, almost killed me from lack of oxygen whilst laughing terribly hard) and I only wish I'd seen at least one episode of the show! (i'll have to find the videos, I suppose)

Although it pains me to watch this show go off the air...I have one questions. Was the guy in Diabolik the same guy who played Pygar in BARBERELLA?? My personal favorite episode was the 'Touch Of Satan' episode...with it's Canadian and Larry Czonka jokes. Plus, the movie was just absolutely dreadful. So no more Sci-Fi network? Then here's to MSK3K: The Movie Part 2! Sigh...I'm so greedy...

My all-time favorite episode was Trumpy, followed by the short where Johnny goes to the World's Fair and "his hydroplane explodes on impact." Although Gamera and the porterhouse steak was pretty good, too... As for Diabolik, the best line was "extreme organized crime," which had me laughing so hard I nearly stopped breathing. Dino de Larentiis really knows how to produce 'em! [BTW, it *was* John Philip Law of Barbarella fame playing Inspector Janko, who had to be the single dumbest cop in history. A radioactive 20 ton gold ingot????] Have a great life, Mike & 'bots. Does anyone know where I can get into Gypsy's IPO?

Well, i been a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 since its 4 to 5 season when it was still on Comedy Central. This final episode is a ghost of what it use to be like. When Mike in first skit was reading that manuel that it instructed him to run really hard into his fist, in old shows, he would have knocked himself out. Not just whine about almost doing it. This what has happened to the series since Joel left and Dr. Forrester left. Show went soft on the skits. This i think truely hurt the show. Even the comments in the theater was holding punches more than it use to be, even WITH Mike there. I truely thought they would have gone all out and put the softness behind them to be more what they use to be. I guessed wrong. Show ending was quiet in the last skit. Which is fine, but i miss the raw slap stick they were infamous for. Not this soft-politically correct stuff. i strongly think the show would have survived well beyond season 10 if they had gotten new blood in their writing staff and lossen the their collars and truely showed us why MSiTe was so famous for. Alas its over, perhaps for the better, not because it deserved to die, but to see it slip more would been crime. What worse of them all, none of the newer viewers will ever see the earlier episodes of MSiTe. Where godzilla, Gamera and Manos: Hands of Fate truely made their marks in brains of our minds and our hearts as the crew was there to keep us from going over the edge. R.I.P.
I salute you Tom Servo!

I liked the fake monkey mommy with the bottle that was Servo's mother. That was a cool scientific reference, from experiments where baby monkies are separated from their mothers and given wire-frame fake monkey mothers with bottles. And the evil guys singing "It's a Long Way to Tiperare" (sp?) and shuffling across the floor in a huddle, a reference to the Mary Tyler Moore Show final episode. And the fact that at the end they were still riffing on a bad movie showing on the tv, except that WE couldn't see what they were talking about, because the screen was too small! A joke on us!

I've been watching MST3K since Comedy Central was actually two comedy channels: Ha! and The Comedy Channel. Both were more or less useless, and then, in a morass of programming on the Comedy Channel there appeared Joe, the Bots and all of their razor sharp wit. MST3K has been with me for a long, long time. With my future wife, I spent some of the best days of my life in Minneapolis at the second MST3K ConventionCon when Sci-Fi picked the show up. It was right at the beginning of our relationship, and we both think back on it with incredible fondness, and now with misty-eyed (pardon the pun) nostalgia. Because there isn't a MST3K anymore and there probably won't ever be another ConventionCon. Sad. At least their last episode was so appropriate. It's nice to see such a class-act show finish with such class.

I watched Diabolik for the second time last night, and it was even better. As with every episode, I found myself saying, "They know SO much!", from classical music to the most obscure pop culture reference. My introduction to MST was "Ring Of Terror" (with 40-year-old "students"!), and I've been hooked ever since. Even an off episode was better than anything else on TV, and the best ones were brilliant. I miss it already. A bit of trivia: my brother took a tour of the studio a few years ago, and saw a photo of Yanni glued inside Gypsy's mouth. Perfect!

I have been a long time MSTie. WAY before CC got them, my local UHF station used to play them on Saturday afternoons. The first show I saw was 'Robot Monster'(season 1), when it was first run. I was never the same again. I'll admit I wandered from the show when Joel left (it's still his SOL as far as I am concerned). With so many turn-overs (Dr. Forrester, TV's Frank, CC, SciFi), I never thought the show would survive, but it did. Congrats Best Brains on a great run, maybe you should pull the bots out of mothballs every year for an annual 'Turkey Day Marathon'. The last movie was OK, not great, and not really fit for a last show. I would have like to see them do The Crawling Eye (their first 'offical' show), or something a little more expensive. It would have been completely different from when Joel did it, and a nice send off. Hey SciFi/CC, how about some 4ep per disc DVD's? I honestly have to say this show was a big part of who I am today. Come on, admit it, how many of you choked back comments during Ep1? My inner dialog becomes my outer dialog way too often now. :) So everyone, what was the 'worst' episode? Torgo? Robot vs the Aztec Monster?

While it is sad that MST3K is gone and the original cast members will never come back. There always will be a chance that someone could create a kind Mystery Science Thater 3000 like show. I mean think about it. There are tons of crapy movies and tv shows. A show like MST3K isn't expensive. Plus it is original idea. I mean look at all the stupid cartoons with extremely crappy animation. What about "Armaggeddon" or "Godzila". There is plently of crud to go arround. Unfortunatly the public doesn't realize that this show was excellent. Another example of this are "The Iron Giant" and "Mystery Men". People are either bitchin' that all television is crap or miss the boat on some great work. Let's hope that someone with ambition revives MST3K in another form. LONG LIVE MOVIE SIGN!!!!

I love MST3K and have for about 6 years, but the MST3K that I am refferring to is Joel's MST3K. I think that Mike is a good writer for the show but that is what he should have stuck with. After Joel lef I think they should have never done another episode, therefore MST3K has been gone a lot longer than one week.

Loved the reference to perhaps the worst movie of all time, Ed Wood's Glen or Glenda. (When Crow says, shouldn't he be saying, "Pull da string!") Also when crow runs in during the heat shield crisis and yells, "Has anyone seen my other sweater!" Favorite ep:Catalina Capers, "I know a bright young singer who's hopped up on Goofballs" Joel explains the 60s, creepy girl, The Nazi Party song... And no one has mentioned SIDE HACKING, my 2nd favorite episode: Only love pads the film, Joel and the bots in the little white Rommel hats, Crows one man play about Peter Graves at the University of Minnesota... Farewell MST3K. Maybe the WB will pick them up next. God knows they've got f***all for programming.

Well, farewell and adieu. Amazing it lasted as long as it did and still manage to go out with it's head head high. This episode had an even higher than normal "obscure reference" quotient - anyone ELSE get the reference to "Reginald Perrin"? Best wishes to all the cast, writers, and crew. What the hell will we do with ALL those cheesy movies that SO deserve the MST treatment. Thank God they got to "Mitchell" and "Manos" and "Pod People" and I'll never ever ever forget Mr. B Natural snifff snork bwahaaaah aaaaah haaaaaa my heart is broken........

What can I say? This show will remain with me forever. My wife introduced me to the show in '91 and I watched almost religiously for four years. I will never forget the time I showed a tape of "Cave Dwellers" to some friends. We laughed so hard that we were in tears. I am SO glad that I taped over 40 shows. Master Ninja and the Hercules movies are among my favorites. As a working screenwriter, I can't tell you how educational Joel and company's jokes were about character and plot. God, this was a brilliant show. The lines just keep coming back to me. "Look at me, I'm HUGE!" "Rock climbing, Joel. Rock climbing." "You're not the boss of me." "Ah, sweet delicious booze!" "America. Building buildings. Drinking booze." "I love you booze, set me free!" "Take that, you Renaissance Fair reject!" And the greatest dedication ever: "To the teachers of America."

Last episode of MST3K? Hardly. Friday night I was watching SciFi Channel, and I saw this cheesy show about a wisecracking human marooned aboard a spaceship with some lame puppets, being chased by an evil overlord. I laughed myself silly. I just can't figure out why they changed the name of the show from "Mystery Science Theater 3000" to "Farscape."

Well, I have been lurking for some time now, but this post makes me want to speak out. I used to watch MST regularly on ComCen, but until recently I didn't get SciFi. I had heard how bad it was with Pearl, but I was happy to see that I still liked it. Too bad I got back into it just when it went away, sigh. Fortunately I had the foresight to tape a whole box load of them over the years, so I will never run dry! Fav ep: Manos, of course. Honorable mentions: Warrior of the Lost World (that stupid blinking light on his cycle!), the Cave Dwellers (my first ep) and all the others. I think I will watch Manos tonight in honor...

My wife had the nerve to go into labor at 10:30am on the day the finale aired. Needless to say, I neglected to set the VCR as I was rushing around throwing everything "last minute" into "The Big Bag" before taking off to the hospital. Keep Circulating the Tapes!
by Zachsmind
Aug 25th, 1999

This is purely speculative, but I think what killed this show in the end is the red tape. I mean, other comedy shows have continued on and worn out their welcome only to find new audiences and be reborn. NBC's Saturday Night Live is a classic example. MST3K could have lived on indefinitely. However, look at it this way. Every MST3K episode featured another program which could have come from any place from Universal Studios to the back yard of some guy in El Paso Texas. In many cases we're talking about a piece of crap that admittedly didn't pay for itself when it was first created. Whoever owns it now took a loss, and five to thirty years later here come these snotnosed city slickers from BBI asking can they have permission to make fun of it on cable television? Nine times out of ten the answer would be "sure if you can afford me!" And the price was sometimes pretty outrageous. So every time MST3K decided to raze another movie, it inherited any and all baggage that movie had with it. So on the surface MST3K sounds like a great idea, but the devil's in the details. This thing is a nightmare for syndication. Even reruns is a bitch. Scifi has a contract with BBI that okays reruns until 2001, but legally it may not have the okay to rerun the movies. Whoever owns said movies may consider suing Scifi Channel for showing their movie without permission or without giving royalties to the owners of the original movies. Oh it's a lawyer's paradise, and a minefield for Scifi channel. So if you want to know why the show was cancelled, inevitably that was no doubt a large factor. So if you really love this series, Keep Circulating The Tapes. Share it with all your friends and encourage your friends to share it with their friends. Just as we've all done since the beginning. So far, lawyers haven't found a way to punish people for sharing what they love with their friends.

One thing that must be asserted as the passing of the great Mystery Science Theater 3000 is removed from our treasured airwaves is the actual station that was to be its eventual demise. I don't know if anyone else watches any of the shows on Sci-Fi, but other than MST3k (for which I have been an avid Mistie for for practically 7 years) I could not imagine actually watching any of the other shows aired on the station. I also wonder what the Hell Sci-Fi's got that could possibly ever replace the legend that is MST3k. I understand it was all part of a ratings thing and that Best Brains had had other disagreements with, I don't know, another vile station such as Comedy Central, but there really is no reason I can see that we should be forced to watch a completely different cast of characters on the fading "Sliders", or the consistent reshowing of dull movies and old series' that nobody even tunes in for, when we could be seeing our beloved friends Mike (or Joel), Crow, Servo, Gypsy, Dr. Forrester (both of them), TV's Frank, Bobo, The Observer, or anyother adventurous being to ever grace the bridge of the SOL... But, alas, our country doesn't work in that way. Farewell, MST3k...
