...and speak alot of shit as well. "Is this show still on" - no you fuck, we just talk about casting its 9th season cos' we stupid idiots!!! OF COURSE ITS STILL ON!! It's been on for 10 bloomin years! Thats more that the beloved BSG, more the the holy Wire, more than the wonderful Journey Man, and more than ANGEL!! People watch it - they watch it because it delivers what people want to see (a different take on Superman) and because it is the show Heroes could never be. Thank the LORDY you guys aren't TV execs!!! As for BAG - he was actually a good thing on TSCC - I truly don't understand the hate...other than that he was on 90210...and that he boned Megan Fox! He is not a bad actor...Smallville is a good show - not a great show - but a good show that has outlived many many others and in this climate - ratings dump is dumped!! Pushing Daisies DUMPED! Reaper DUMPED!! TSCC DUMPED!! Smallville - RENEWED FOR A NINTH SEASON!! Deal with it - get over it - or don't tune in and don't read the talkback.

This show is way past it's expiration date. Production values are in the toilet with about 6 sets that are used for every show. All this gives Smallville a claustrophobic feel. The budgets are obviously being cut most likely because the few actors that have stayed are demanding high salary knowing that Smallville won't be around to much longer. All that said, I'm still watching it because I am a Comic kind of guy.

It was actually well done - the finale sucked but I guess that was budget restrictions. BAG will be in the show for two episodes - its not a big deal. The producers do the best they can with the budget they have - and thats why they are on season 9. People will still watch. Yes, it won't go past season 10. But what a great run nonetheless.

MMReturns, I get what you are saying, and personally I don't get people coming into a TB to bitch about something they don't watch, but as a casual viewer on Smallville I am going to say the show blew a fantastic possibility. I am not saying it is a bad show, but it also hasn't lived up to its potential.

The show has been stuck in Smallville and basically his HS years for way to long. If they have been willing to rename the show Metropolis, as ciroslive mentioned above, they could of moved on and charted a different part of Superman's life. But instead they have been doing the same soap opera, again and again.

I'm not saying you are wrong in liking the show, but you have to admit it could have been better, and when dealing with the Superman mythos I think most people would love if they got it right the first time instead of having to wait maybe 20 years before they reboot the Smallville TV show.

The problem is there has been no progression with the Clark Kent character and every season has the same plot points recycled (Clark loses his powers, Clark is taken over by something and is evil, etc). The Doomsday season had some moments where it was really good and I thought they may finally move forward with the story. I look at "Smallville" as an "Elseworlds" story so I don't care if he dons the cape (I hope he does) but as long as he becomes SUPERMAN instead of acting like Clark Kent with a yeast infection, then I would be ok.

I was going to write this large rant against how stupid the show has become since Lana showed up again, but I no energy left to discuss a show that it is stuck in the past. It was ok to do the no flight the first few years, but the fact that everyone can fly including Supergirl makes the whole thing ridiculous. I agree they should have gone with the Metropolis idea for season 5. Now, the character is a joke and so is the rest of the show.

It was such a great idea of CW to get rid of their second highest rated show. What happened to the network after that? Oh yeah, they had to combine with another network to stay a float. Angel's ratings are double what Smallville is now and since CW is such a shit network, they have to keep Smallville on, because its second highest rated show. They are putting it on Fridays in order to cancel the show, because they can't cancel another high rated show like Angel. They wanted to cancel it this year, but since the ratings were high in the beginning due to no Lana, they renewed it too early and once she showed up and Doomsday started, the ratings tanked again.

But its a fun show for drinking games (whos gonna get knocked unconcious next etc) the only thing that annoys me is the shit Danny Elfman sounding score the play when Lois and Clark are having yet another tit for tat conversation , usually in the daily planet office, you know that silly music they put into EVERY sceen in desperate housewives, desperate housewives not thats a fucking terrable show, smallville is light entertainment to escape reallity for an hour! roll on S09!

you're marrying that person, not their family. who cares what the family is like, if you're willing to marry them then obviously you're happy with who they are and such. if you're opinion of a person changes because of who they happen to be related to, then you're just picky. judge people for who they are, not what surrounds them. oh and just so i fit into this talkback......smallville is still on? holy christ on a popsicle stick!!!!

Last season's finale was terrible
by growltiger
Jun 18th, 2009
08:21:34 AM
Which is odd, because the usual pattern had been great season ending episodes crowning fair to middling season episodes. I thought last season was promising over all. Although I have to agree that the Lana redux was both tedious and a head scratcher. Maybe making Lana toxic is a metaphor for the Smallville experience itself.

I have to agree that the show should end its run real soon now or give up and just give us the further adventures of Superman. It could not be any worse than the last movie outing.

By the way, Angel was one of my favorite series and I was sad that it was cancelled. But it only had one, maybe two more seasons at most left in its run. The network should have gone with the big and promoted finale season. It was my understanding that ratings were always reliable, such as they were, and may have picked up as a known and advertised finale approached.

Oh, well, I hope this season brings an end to the "blue blur" and delivers, at long last, the man of steel.

Licensing. I may be wrong but I believe they don't have the rights to the Superman character. Sure, they have the rights to pretty much every other character in Superman's orbit, including his alter ego, but not the guy in the blue tights and red cape. They may not have the rights to Aquaman either (don't they refer to him as AC?) or The Flash (they call his Speedy or something).

Look back at the first couple of seasons of the show. Smallville was a way of doing a Superman show without having the character of Superman. They had the bumbling, fumbling Clark Kent, the nemesis Lex Luthor, and the intrepid reporter Lois Lane (in the character of Chloe). But after a few years they started to run out of "Clark Kent with superpowers but not Superman" stories and started to add Superman supporting characters and villains - the actual Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen (or so we thought), Green Arrow, Supergirl, Doomsday, Bizarro, etc.

Agreed about the F/X budget getting radically slashed
by Nasty In The Pasty
Jun 18th, 2009
09:13:46 AM
They used to SHOW Clark's super-fast running, but more often than not in the last three or so seasons, they'll just add an off-screen "whoosh" while a technician blows some air at Alison Mack's hair, and then they'll just pan over to reveal Welling standing there. Plus, we used to get things like heat vision (which looked DAMN COOL), Matrix "bullet time" shots when Clark was in super-speed mode, ect., but more often than not, the series looks about as technically advanced as an episode of the 50's Adventures Of Superman show (all that's missing is a shot of a villain emptying his gun into Clark's chest, then throwing it at him). Smallville used to have GREAT F/X for a TV production, but it seems like about 70% of each episode's budget now goes directly into Welling's pocket.

That said, season eight was pretty damn good all the way, and the Doomsday arc was handled extremely well (aside from the truncated, F/X-light final showdown, of course). Season nine should definitely be it, though. REALLY work at the Lois/Clark attraction (Erica Durance is my second-favorite Lois at this point, after Dana Delaney), write Chloe out of the series, get Michael Rosenbaum back for a few key episodes, and end the show right. Despite it's faults, it's been a remarkably consistent show far longer than it ever should have been (compare it to Heroes, which had a GREAT first season, then fell to pieces with stunning swiftness).

I agree with you batting at the haters and naysayers. The show is on the air because people obviosly enjoy it. And as a casual watcher I have to admit to enjoy it sometimes too. However some reasons why I think people hate on Smallville so much is that it has very very little growth over a 10 (!) year period in terms of character and plot development. I want so much to like SV more than I do, but Tom Wellings acting, if anything, has grown more wooden, and the sets have not changed in YEARS. I get it, low production costs help keep it on the air. But I have to say, the thing that bothers me the most as a fan is the often soap opera-ish acting and dialog...the long lingering shots of the actors faces when they say something 'significant' is beyond annoying, especially when they use that as the pause before a commercial. It's soap opera 101. And for God's sake, whose decision was it to make Clark such a pussy? At this point Welling is playing, what, a 23 year old man (which in itself is a stretch, the guy looks solidly 30 if not more)? The guy can barely get a word out with a woman in the room without seeming like a 12 year old dungeons and dragons nerd at a Hooters. Clarks got no stones and that's what tunes me out. My Supes is confident and in charge, and only plays the nerd to distract people from imagining him without his glasses. SV's Clark IS a nerd, and that annoys me. What does he have to be afraid of around normal people? Anyway, now that I've bashed my two cents worth as well, Furzee out.
Erica Durance makes Smallville worth the watch.

Best. Lois. Ever.

That being said, it's obvious Smallville has become weighted down with all the typical trappings of a series that has run this long:
•The primary star has too much sway
•Too much of the budget is going to the primary star
•Everyone involved is burned out
•The remaining actors always think they are "holding themselves back from something bigger and better"
•The actors begin to write and/or direct the episodes (ALWAYS a mistake)
•The actors begin to believe that they are more important to the series than the character they portray•The stories become rote -- no chance taking because they can't upset the formula
The show becomes caught up in it's own paradigms

Yeah Smallville is definatly up and down. Really horrible moments ,but every once in awile they give you some really cool stuff with Justice League or Brainiac. I was sad to see Zod again since he's been over done. I just hope that if Brian Singer does another movie that he doen't do Zod like he had wanted to. That guy does good stuff, but doesn't seem to like doing original stories when it comes to Superman.

As for those wanting Smallville to end quickly Tom Welling just signed a contrat for 2 more years so at least seasons 9 & 10. Unless of course people just stop watching and CW cancels it because of poor ratings.

I don't know what everyone is getting worked up about. Recent season of Smallville was good imho. The show is what it is. No flights and no tights. That is good because going to the superman suit would look silly now. Here's the secret: Pretend that this is another Superman from one of the Pre-Crisis Infinite Earths and just let it be it's own fucking thing. And relax. It's better than Heroes with a tenth of the budget, and it's good fun. If you're bored with it, change the channel. If you're bored and there's nothing else on, watch it. Enjoy.

Season 8 was half good
by obidawsn
Jun 18th, 2009
11:02:46 AM
The reason I say half was because they were doing a lot for the first half of the season. It was on a roll, and was really good. You can tell that they were building up to the end, getting him to be Superman. They had new showrunners, and you could tell. But what ruined the show wasn't Lana coming back or Doomsday, but them announcing a Season 9. At the beginning of the season, they said it was going to be the last. So I think they had a plan, or at least a goal. But once they announced they were getting another season, they seemed to meander around, not sure where they were going. They were on the path to get him to become Superman and end the show, but wait a minute...they can't do that if they're going to have another season. However, I do find myself enjoying it more than Heroes. I always looked at Smallville as a decent show (even great sometimes) if it didn't have to hang onto the mythos. They do some things that would make for a good show, if it wasn't a departure from the mythos (like JO's death). That's why I always wish they would just create a superhero show that was free from the mythos of an already made character. Lo and Behold they finally do that, and it just keeps getting worse. I used to take up for Heroes, but this last season, I found myself getting upset and uncaring about the show. Let's hope it gets better.

I read that Sam Witwer (Davis Bloome/Doomsday) will possibly play Zod since, in the Smallville mythos, Zod and his wife, Faora, created Doomsday, thus Zod is the "father" of Doomsday. I guess they're trying to say that Davis looks like his "father" Zod. But I got the impression that Davis was human, and that he was infected with the Doomsday genetic material that Zod sent with Kal-El's ship. But maybe I was wrong about that.

Cos you're bloody morons if you are! I agree with some of the criticisms though...yes...there needs to be development...but I do say this...Superman as a character, has always been boring. Clark Kent was the interesting one. Supes was the fixer at the end of the serial...he was the one that did the punching...but CK was the one people (the causal fans) liked...Will he get with Lois? Will he be found out? That was what made the character interesting...and Smallville attempts that...and wins I say. Yes, it isn't the best show in history, and yes there needs some development in his character but for what the show is, Smallville ticks the right boxes. And yes....the SHOW IS STILL ON!!!!

BAG was freakin' awesome in TSCC, much to my surprise. Giving him the role of villain could be juicy.

And as I watched a Smallville replay of season 8's "Plastique" the other day, I have to say Tom Welling was pretty damn good this season from start to finish. His scenes with the cutie who played Plastique show exactly how Superman should be. Then all his stuff w/ Chloe this season was impressive, as she whored around with Doomsday.

Welling's been solid in the past, showing range when given the opportunity to do so. I always liked the red kryptonite Clark episodes. Not as great as David Boreanaz changing from Angel to Angelus, but a dark turn just the same for a more family friendly show.

It must be pretty tough to play the most well known character (next to Mickey Mouse) in the world. He doesn't get enough credit, IMHO.

I was surprised how much I liked the Clark/Lois dynamic this season. I didn't really look forward to the relationship when they first introduced Lois to Smallville, but they've won me over.

But the biggest surprise to me was how excellent Sam Witwer did as Davis. It was a big void to fill Rosenbaum's Lex, and it was refreshing to have a new story told. I've got no problem if Witwer gets to play Zod.

Here's to more Green Arrow (his character is the voice of the viewer, telling Clark to wake the fuck up), more Black Canary, Flash, and Cosmic Boy, and more development with Tess and Kandor. Where's that gonna go?!

Smallville pleasantly surprised many this season...but damn if I don't miss John Glover's dialogue. Maybe they can bring in Ray Wise as a juicy villain...maybe Bruno Mannheim?

the new showrunners did a fantastic job. I used to let smallville episodes accumulate on my computer and then eventually got around to watching them. however, this past season really got the ball rolling, and it became a show i looked foward to every week, which has never been the case with any season of this show for me.

I was LIVID and furious when they brought lana back for a few episdoes. That storyline made it undeniable that lana brings down the show... badly. One of their biggest, well, no, the ABSOLUTE BIGGEST mistake the show has made for so long was recycling the lana/clark romance. WHY!?! we all know that the relationship is going nowhere, and Lois is THE superhero-wife of all time. They have a brilliant lois on smallville who totally gets the character, unlike that way too young actress who was so obviously not the age she was supposed to be... she must have introduced Singer to his boyfriend or something...

The doomsday reimagining was fantastic. Yeah, there wasn't the battle we all hoped for, but its TELEVISION, what do you expect. They do alot and i'm sure spend alot on special effects, which have always blown away the garbage on heroes, even though heroes is network with big ratings. Luthor was the best actor on the show, but once he left, the show picked up a ton of momentum.

Clark HAS evolved and in large part its because of Green Arrow, who is great opposite of clark. All that said, they do need to grow some balls and realize they have ratings gold if they would just make him superman. How stupid to execs think we are? like we can't distinguish between a superman show and a superman movie??? for an industry all about rehashing and reimagining or adapting preexisting material, you'd think they would see a huge cash cow that the show could be if he became superman... it baffles me why they refuse to do it.

darkseid... the PERFECT villain for a movie that would blow away the average moviegoer since they don't know him, and his arcs are unlike anything seen in a take of superman. Also, a cool, possibly time traveling related, arc would be Gog/Magog... now that'd be something.

obidawsn> I think Davis was always Doomsday, not a boy infected. In the great episode this season where they flashed back to the the Kent's finding Kal-El after the meteor shower, some sort of space goo emerged and took the form of a boy. Davis was raised as a child (and strangely became friends with a young Lex?).

Ryanbraun14> I agree w/ most of your great post! Except for some reason I was one of the few who liked the episodes this season where Lana came back. Definitely some unfinished business was resolved, and her annoying video-taped goodbye in season 7 was finally explained! Not sure Lana getting powers was necessary, but at least Clark was finally able to have some super-sex! Haha!

Kristin Kreuk was given some brutal storylines over the years, but she was always invested in the role. And always incredibly hot!

I completely agree superman is not, as a whole, a deeply compelling superhero. The contrast between superman and clark is what makes superman legendary. There's a reason you can find 4x as many graphic novels of batman, most of which are better than any superman graphic novel there is (aside from All Star Superman, which kicked all sorts of ass... its an original take on superman... i always thought it couldn't be done)

Yes--all the romantic storylines post-season 2... the lex marraige was an absolutely horrific story arc... would it have killed them to just turn lana into the close friend she will ultimately become instead of having them both in love for 8 seasons...

oh yeah, the natural--i didn't respond with the main point I was going to make:

there was zero need to make that lana arc and provide closure by making it impossible to clark to ever get near lana. Lana should have been turned into a friend and then go off and do her own thing. The way lana/clark romance ended is terrible because it implies that lana will always been the love of clark life. That's lois' role. the closure we needed was them going in different directions as friends.

I just hate where last season fell apart at the end. It had potential and it just went to shit quick. All that build up and we didn't even get to see Clark dispose of DoomsDay. This season has to have Clark fly and at the minimum try a costume change. He doesn't have to sport a cape ,but for the love of God please drop the shirt jacket combo. Doesn't it ever get warm in Smallville? It can't always be jacket weather. This season needs Clark to toughen up and be more of a hard ass instead of a big moping baby. Nine seasons of slumping around and not flying is getting real old.

LOL No problem man, I'm in creative writing too and it wasn't bad. In fact, trying to describe the absurd storyline of why Lana and Clark can't be around each other anymore was probably why you had trouble in the first place! You're 100% right about that arc. But the sins of Smallville writers have always been there (how many times has Lois been shot?!), and they don't really break their own rules like the Heroes writers do. That's all I can ask. I'm just happy we get weekly adventures of Superboy on TV, and I think next to the Donner films Smallville is easily my favourite live-action interpretation of the hero.

re: the finale...I hear what you're saying. I was disappointed with the lack of a massive fight scene too. One minute of bullet-time punches wasn't enough...but after Jimmy got stuck like a pig, I realized what the writer's intent was with Doomsday.

I think Davis, Chloe and Jimmy was the bigger storyline here...not a showdown between Doomsday and Superman. After all, that is one epic battle that can't really happen yet because "Superman" hasn't been exposed to the public yet. If Doomsday killed Kal-El, it would really just be Clark Kent dying...not Superman. So that must come much, much later anyway.

Like her or not, Chloe was brought back as a major star of the show. While I was expecting a Smallville version of the Doomsday vs. Superman battle, the writers didn't go there, perhaps because they could never do it justice.

Davis was an intriguing character because we all knew he would become Doomsday. From his earliest scenes, they often chose to shoot Witwer with half of his face darkened and the other half light.

While we didn't get the battle we expected, I think the last 3 episodes (after the lame Stiletto) worked very well as a continuous story surrounding Chloe vs. Davis, Clark vs. Oliver, and Jimmy vs. the world!
Sounds like Clark v. Doomsday throw down...

On the one hand, it is a perfect solution to set up the "real" Jimmy Olsen, *cub* reporter. When Ashmore was introduced I was dismayed because of the age discrepancy (did everyone major character have to be a twenty-something?), but the character/actor grew on me.

Then the powers that be killed him. Dismayed yet again. Then we learn that this was Henry James Olsen and that young Jimmy is still waiting in the wings. Nice touch, though, naming him Henry James.

It started off strong and the Doomsday arc with Chloe and Clark was awesome, but the finale was a huge copout. I'm still stunned by them choosing to make the big Clark/Doomsday showdown all about Fake Jimmy Olsen. And how in the world can either Lois or Clark continue to work at the Daily Planet with Tess Mercer as their boss? I hated how they just placed Clark at the Planet with no credentials whatsoever, how Lois can make up stories and somehow not face any professional repercussions, and yet Chloe, who is 10x the reporter either of them are, gets fired. Like others, I think SV is now known as the show of failed opportunities. It should've ended in S5, when Pa Kent died and Clark really resembled a young man about to become Superman. Now it's just stall, stall, stall. Ultimately, Smallville has become a show that's not really about anything, just putting the comic characters in their place and not really telling any real stories.

sorry for the spamming, guys. I don't know how SV compares to other CW shows, but its ratings had a steady decline throughout last season, and the finale was their worst-rated ever. I think, although I can't say for sure, that the episode with Chloe as Brainiac and the Legion of Superheroes was their best performing episode. I heard the Lana episodes did well too. I wanted to respond to snookeroo's comments upthread about the show's obstacles. I'm really not inclined to defend Smallville as a series anymore, but I don't see how it's fair to blame the actors for the repetitive storytelling or budget shortfalls. Tom Welling and Allison Mack are the only actors remaining from the original cast, and at 8-plus seasons I'm sure they get paid a pretty penny. Regardless, they're the only actors who appear in every episode, everyone else does about half. Welling has been directing an episode a season for the last few years, and I know Michael Rosenbaum directed a few years ago and Allisom Mack directed one last season, but no one has written an ep. Welling's not an executive producer, so I have no reason to believe he's directing the storylines to suit him or anything like that. I just don't agree that it's the actors fault that the show has become so stale. All the supporting characters have looser schedules and are free to do other projects. Funnily enough, the only actor I've heard complain about their role not being what they want is Erica Durance.

Although a lot of people were disappointed with the Season 8 finale, I think it actually set things up nicely for Season 9. Chloe has officially become Watchtower, Clark is completely defeated, I'm interested in what they're planning to do w/ Zod next season, and I'm curious about how they're going to handle Lois' disappearance. I never thought anyone would be able to replace Michael Rosenbaum as Lex, but Cassidy Freeman has done a respectable job as Tess and I like the way they've written her character. Jimmy was underused and Davis/Doomsday was becoming dead weight, so I'm kind of relieved that they're gone. I think casting BAG as Metallo is a smart move. Maybe they could bring him back for more than 2 episodes. I also hear Supergirl will be coming back for at least 1 episode, which makes sense. Why would she take off and never contact her cousin again? I'm sure members of the JL and the Legion will also be coming back. However, I'd be happy to never see Lana Lang again.

Figured I'd just Netflix the DVDs to catch up when it was over in a few years. Now it just keeps going and going and going...

Does Superman pre-Metropolis really warrant 10 seasons? REALLY?

Other than dioxholster's favorite show Stargate, isn't this the longest running American genre show EVER?

The X-Files only went nine and it was running on fumes the last two years.

TWICE as Long as Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Babylon 5?

3 years longer than any STAR TREK spinoff?

The question isn't: Is this show still on? The question is: Who's still watching it?

The teenage girls who thought Tom Welling was dreamy in 2001 will have graduated college by the time this thing is over.

LOST and Ron Moore's GALACTICA will be dead and gone.

We'll be on our third Doctor Who of the 21st Century.

But hated what they have done to the Doomsday storyline.. hated what they did to Lana and Lex as well as Lex's father... Hated a whole bunch of other crap they decided to do over the years. Clark has not grown up one bit and is as immature as he was in season 1.. He is 10 years older, he should be Superman by now and the show should have been this season just like Lois and Clark the TV show was in season 1.. And I don't know how they are going to get glasses on Clark and suddenly have him take them off to become superman and Lois is not going to recognize who he is.. have done an admirable job, all things considered. There were positive changes to the cast, setting, story arcs as well as improvements in maturity, tone etc. Some of the bits here and there about Clark's fate/destiny showed that they understood what they need to do to tell a good story.

But for all their efforts, they've fallen well short of turning the series into what a series about Superman should be (ie something great). Superman is about heroism, epic batlles, personal sacrifice and struggles with life, love and society, demonstrating all the ideals of chivalry and justice through example etc. They have all the ingredients they need to make us feel all the emotional highs and lows. To make us root and cheer as well as feel pain, anger and sorrow. There's a ton of rich material here. But instead of putting Clark and these themes about Clark front and center, there was far too much time wasted on far less interesting stories. I suppose their intent is to give the "supporting" characters depth (or maybe to placate the actors) but they should only be given depth if it helps move/improve Clark/Superman's story and not just for the sake of giving characters depth. The lack of focus dilutes the energy/momentum of the show.

I thought the legal issues were about the rights to Superboy, not Superman so I don't know what the hold up is to introducing Superman. Turning Clark into Superman would definitely help. I'm sure there are issues related to the budget and dealing with all the constraints making a TV series. But if they keep the focus on Clark and all of Clark's issues (instead of on all of Smallville's characters), and if they improve some of the other aspects of the writing (dialog) they should be able to turn this into something really worth watching.
The season finale of Smallville finally PROVED that...

they should bring back angel and keep them in the wolfram offices -- but bring kevin smith to pen it and it should be gold.

BAG played the best character on that show. Even when he died nonchalantly he played that shit straight. He pretty much proved himself with that roll. Though Smallville seems like a huge downgrade in terms of quality. The last season started fairly decent in comparison to the previous seasons, but that fucking finale was shit. SHIT!!!! Any motherfucker on this board that ends up showing up to that Smallville panel and has a decent enough background on Superman needs to grill the fucking showrunners on why they keep fucking up Clark Kent/Superman.

-and Welling isn't openly gay - so the there's no chemistry. The real problem is that Kreuk left, Baldy Mc Rosenbasterd grew way tiresome and the writers began phoning it in at least two seasons ago. When each pseudo-actor mirrors the next, spewing hyperbolic drivel with the glazed look of Jay Liptons remedial sophmores, it's time to call in "The Cleaner". I'll supply the lyme if y'all can find a bathtub big enough. What would save this show? Megan Fox Face down in Alessandra Ambrosio for starters. Top it off with Missy Peregrym kicking teh glib out of Lane, and Chloe and Clark getting it on in Lex's bed, while his head looks on from a bedside jar of formaldehyde. Oh and Diablo Cody should share writing chops with Chuck Palahniuk. Like it? Of course you do. Nice to meet you too. The names Egotesticle.
You know it's the last season, right?

Unless Welling can find some Colombians to invest in the tenth. And considering that this show is all he'll have, he might just try to.
I agree, put him in the fucking costume already and get high rat

Once upon a time, Smallville was a wonderful little show about Superman before he donned the tights. Now, it's just a watered down series that still turns a buck for the CW so they're keeping it on life support, even though the show died like three seasons ago. BTW, I've never seen a group of writers/producers that have such a strong ability to take fantastic source materials, and awesome actors like Sam Witwer (BSG) and James Marsters (Buffy/Angel) and turn out such crappy, underdeveloped, antic-climactic storytelling.

It's me.

Herc's taste in TV shows is terrible. It's like asking your 13-year-old niece what to watch.

This show sucked as soon as he got out of high school

And how come he keeps fighting all his "arch enemies" before he even becomes Superman? This show should stop please!!!!!!

your audience is still among the smallest of basic cable's. More people watch celebrity gossip on E! Granted, they're more stupid than you are. Just barely.
Seriously, who watches this?

Are they the same 10 people who have been watching Supernatural for like 10 years? I couldn't make it through one episode of this. And he still isn't Superman yet? Are they waiting until he qualifies for AARP?
Has Tom Weilling been in anything else besides Smallville?

I watched Smallville a while ago and loved the subtle use of DC characters but it never really went any place. I guess I was expecting some Buffy the Vampire Slayer style plot/character. It was really more "Clarke vs the Bad Guy of the Week" when I stopped watching. Is it worth watching now?
