Really good interview, Quint. That guy has such a larger than life presence on screen, it's got to be insanely intimidating to even sit down across from him and ask questions. I mean the guy was Ivan Drago, He-Man, AND the Punisher! That's a pretty weighty resume in terms of movie badass-ness. His inclusion in The Expendables seems to me like the only real make-or-break necessity, in light of his onscreen rivalry/relationship with Sly. Sounds like he's got a good part to chew on, too. I just hope he's got enough screentime, and isn't just a glorified cameo.

I agree. Dolph has done a wider (and wilder) range than most of his counterparts. I've always enjoyed him, although I'm first to admit movies like Universal Soldier had really bad acting out of him. That said, he HAS dramatically improved over time. Really looking forward to The Expendables (and Command Perfomance).

Quint was very nice to offer it to me. He also tried to get me to interview Van Damme one time. But he's a much better interviewer than I would be. My questions would have all been about Blackjack, whether his character was supposed to be gay and could he elaborate on why he is afraid of the color white. Quint got much more important information out of him.

I enjoyed reading this and can't wait for COMMAND PERFORMANCE and THE EXPENDABLES. Kind of sounds like they might've made his character bigger than in the script I read (but then am I reading it wrong or does he refer to it as a cameo? Hmmm.)

installment. The first one was great. An original idea that had some of the biggest, baddest mo fos on the block. JCVD, Dolph with his ear necklace, and a great second echelon including Tiny Lister. The second one sucked so bad. I guess I mean the second one with JCVD because wasn't there a DTV sequel? That was a shame really because JCVD and Michael Jai White are both great. Goldberg made a decent debut. If it wasn't his acting debut it was his first, shall we say larger part role. The plot of that one just didn't cut it for me.

of him. Again, it's a shame. The man is a great action actor. He's how old now, and still keeps in rock hard shape. It's these damn writers. They come up with good concepts, but then blow it. He had the Frank Castle look, but the script was nothing out of the comic. And then there's I Come in Peace. Good premise, but I thought the effects were just terrible. What really needs to happen, and from what I'm told it's happened in several DTVs that I haven't seen, is that we need Dolph in a movie where there's a decent plot, decent effect, and him doing what he does best which is breaking people.
I hope we see more than a sliver of Dolph

As Spandau Belly pointed out in the other talkback, and Ironic also said they should make an Ivan Drago movie where decades after he's been released from the gulag for choking his commie handler he's back with a vengeance. Dolph, ask Sly about it. Sly, make it happen. We love both you guys.

His "I don't give a shit" attitude was dead on and the extreme violence of his character was accurate. My favorite part of the film is when he is fighting that little karate chick and he just puts his hands around her neck and snaps it, negating all her fancy bullshit.

Lundgren's Punisher is still the best one. Why? Well, first of all, before the end of the opening credits, it's established that he's got a body count of 175+. Badass. It's got the best villain-Jeroen Krabbe. Not much competition tho: Gayass Travolta (no offense intended, but he sucks.) and Disco Frankenstein. And the way Dolph is made up in that movie, he looks the spitting image of Jim Lee's Frank Castle. He tells his torturer to Fuck himself before he escapes and kills him. Oh, and Punisher vs. a Ninja Squad? Fucking epic. If I recall correctly, he even makes a derorgatory comment about Batman!

Oh, and FTW: I present Louis Gossett, Jr. Awesome.
