Atheism isn't some 21st century invention. As long as therer have been religious beliefs there have been some people who didn't believe them. According to Wikipedia (I know I shouldn't cite it as a reference but I'm in a hurry) "The first individuals to self-identify as "atheist" appeared in the 18th century."

is one of the best movies I've rented from Netflix in a long time. That film is a must have for fans of badass performances since in that film you get two. Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine school just about everybody in how to do an onscreen rivalry just right.

Dammit Quint, now I have to hunt this movie down.

And I still haven't caught that snipe yet!

The only reason people didn't self-identify as atheists before the 18th century is that doing so would have gotten you killed. But try googling "Diagoras of Melos."

This is an oddly short talkback.

If you want to hear bizarre poetry in a screenplay, Chayefsky is the guy! THE HOSPITAL, NETWORK... I'd like to see teleplays by him on DVD.
existed yes, but widely known?
