Y'know, I'm suprised someone else didn't jump on this. Hell, Disney could've attempted an adult programming block around this seeing how they haven't had much for the older folks since Avonlea ended.

Also, regarding the comics.

They'll be awful. Part of the appeal of this is the rapid fire dialogue, the effects, Snook's cleavage, the music, etc.

I just hope if Fuller gets wrapped up in that purposed Trek series of his, it won't jeopardize this maybe getting a movie, tv or otherwise, in the future.

anywhere on TV. This show had pacing, it had set design, wonderful actors that sold an unbelievable premise.

Not only did have some of the best make-up F/X - like the deep fried guy who ATE HIMSELF - it gave a sense of of love & joy that in the dark, angsty prevaliance of many TV series that we don't get now a days.

They were sluething out murders, but there was a comic book joy to it all, like an ironic Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series.

Fast dialogue: The quips were furious. If you weren't paying attention - you missed it. (Most likely the problem) But if you could fall into their riff...

It was one of my farvorite scripted shows since BtVS.

Emerson/Olive spin-off. Like now.

There have been very few shows lately where I've been watching that has made me spontantiously cry out, "Yay!" and clap my hands.

Buffy does it for me. The Office. Spaced. Extras. The Venture Brothers. These are my "Yay!" shows.

Actually this talkback, when I first saw it, made do the same thing....

YAY! Pushing Daisies talkback!!

and all I have to say is WHY, GODDAMN YOU, WHY DID THIS GET CANCELED? Such a blissful pleasure to get wrapped up in. we seem now to be importing this American idea of cancelling shows halfway through their story because of poor ratings. it was never this way when i was a lad. it's a bit like dinners. back in the day, at school, in the army, at work, one dish was cooked for your dinner and you ate what you were given. then came consumer choice and mealtime options now we're almost as fat as you lot.

Auntie (the BBC) was funded by the government through the TV licence: if you had a tv, you paid the BBC a yearly fee. this meant that there was less pressure on produucers to get huge ratings week in week out. now, this lead to some right old shite being shown, but it also allowed some quality niche programming that could afford to takes its time developing a story: they weren't in anbject terror of cancellation from week to week, and so we avoided such sorry happenings as Mary-Louise Parker getting her tits out on Weeds. normally of course i would always heartily applaud Mary-Louise Parker getting her kit off, but in the contaxt of the show it was just cheap - a desperate ratings-grab. of course, the production values were crap, as each episode had to be made on three and sixpence, but therein lies the charm of Blake's 7 and Doctor Who.

and there were no ads on the Beeb. so we saw entire movies, start to finish, in one go without having to tune out the Cheez-Wizz. ah, happy days.

My abc affiliate is airing a Children's Miracle Network telethon, and it appears, at this point, tonight's episode, the episode I've waited five months to see....the traditional way, won't be rescheduled. Now I'm not pissed over the telethon itself, but if they don't give those of us a scrolling message in a hour regarding if it will air at a later time or not, I will be extremely disappointed. If national coverage of tennis/golf can push cbs soaps to early morning hours, then local affiliates should do the same. You can best believe I'll be checking the station regularly tonight, or if abc.com will have the episode available on their site.

First, check to see if it's on at 1:37 or something. That's what I usually get when preempted.

Second, re: your comment that Herc isn't a 14 year-old girl in the Jay Leno thread. Herc *is* a 14 year-old girl. He/She's downloaded into a new 14 year-old girl every January 1st. It's like Being John Malkovich, but an annual event. El Cosmico tried once and failed (went too late), and now he's stuck pining for control.

After This Ep . . .

I am officially declaring this the second greatest show in the history of TV, after BtVS. But the 20 episodes we've seen so far are MUCH better than the first 20 of Buffy and in fact wipe the floor with the first 20 of any other show.

Shermdawg, the "mysteries" are highly unconventional and are not to be judged by the difficulty of their solution for the viewer or their plausibility in the real world. That's completely not the point. They serve two purposes: first and foremost as just an excuse for character interaction, and second, to be baroque and memorable. Every mystery in every conventional police procedural will be more complicated and more "clever." And they all blend together indistinguishably. The PD case of the week typically features a visually memorable setting and a perp with unusual and sometimes even genuinely novel motivation. Nothing "lame" there at all.

...as much as I love this show, part of me is glad it's ending. I don't think a Chuck-Olive-Ned love triangle in which Ned actually has feelings for Olive is the way to go. Maybe it was just a shallow "Why-isn't-she-into-me-anymore ?" jealousy, but if it's not, I call it lame. If you compromise the Chuck-Ned romance, you really kill the show's entire spirit in my mind.
