and, I don't care who knows it.

Oh, sure, obviouslt Abby's like the hottest thing on television, but that's just part of it. Another big part is that for the most part their forensic tech is rooted in fairly solid science.

There was a scene where Abby was asked if she could blow up a portion of an online video, and her answer was something to the effect of "Yeah, if you want bigger pixels."

The last few eps of NCIS have been some of the best of the series, with an outstanding season finale/cliffhanger last night. Nice to see the continued respect from CBS. Not so great about the Unit, one of our must-sees. Do they even count DVR/web viewers?

What unit cancelled The Unit???

The Unit was a solid hour of ass kicking fun every Sunday. I always looked forward to it. Something a little different each week, domestic and international intrigue, and let's face it, Snake Doctor kicked some ASS! You will be missed Dennis Haysbert. And for reasons I can't explain, 11th Hour was really growing on me. Jacob hood was kind of a nerdy anti-hero, and the chick he was partnered with had some nice bumpers. Me likey. Anyway, all the above still beat Leno at 10.

Medium and Unit
by Aloy

Happy for Medium, always liked that show. The fact that it's paired with the suckage that is Ghost Whisperer (unless it drastically improved from the time I stopped watching a couple of seasons ago)is the only downer.

Too bad for Unit, despite the fact that Dennis Haysbert as a front line secret ops guy was a stretch to say the least the show was always interesting with the combo of action and family.

His sitcom didn't get picked up. (I'm pretty sure CBS was looking at it.) In know he's just been "filling in" this week on Lovelines, but maybe he's in a landing pattern for returning to his old gig.

Is a very solid show. For those of you that say CBS has "nothing" to offer, or nothing for anyone under 65, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I'd say the ratings speak for themselves. O'Donnell and Cool J did a good job in their two part introductory to the NCIS world, and I look forward to seeing it. Also, Big Bang is fun, as is Two and a Half Men.

Sure it was a blatant rip-off of "Meet the Parents" (albeit with a fiance that always understood that her fella' was the unintentional source of calamity). Still, GREAT show. If I'm not mistaken, even CBS was touting it as the #1 new sitcom. I guess they were lying, but I enjoyed the crap out of it and can't wait to gift it out to friends who never got a chance to see it. I guess this is Nick Kroll kurse, which first wiped out "Cavemen". He, along with the rest of the regulars, were truly entertaining, so I hope to see them all soon.

It is, this show is one of the most phoned-in pieces of shit I've ever seen. I gave it a second chance last night and couldn't have been more disappointed in this poorly-written tripe.

NCIS:LA looks really poor based on the taste we got from its proto-pilot episode were pure junk.

Why does Hollywood keep trying to make a star out of Jenna Elfman? She's not half as funny as she thinks she is, she's an annoying actress in large chunks and exceptionally 1-note. 8:30 to 9 monday will be the time I use to watch paint dry, I guess.

The rest of this schedule looks a little weak, but stronger than what ABC and NBC have presented. I fully expect CBS to have no standouts from their new Fall shows, but still win the year.

I enjoyed the stories and the principal characters. Although I did not get why they added the gopher FBI agent.

As for loving the Mentalist, well, not so much. I forced myself through to the end of the pilot and tried another episode, but it just does not work for me. It was just too formulaic for me.

I enjoy watching the occasional episode of NCIS. But only when I stumble on it in a repeat over on USA. The characters are fun but the stories seem silly to me.

I'll defintely watch the "NCIS" double feature each week.

Hmm, sorry, I really have to disagree. I work on a college campus. They are constantly talking about: LOST 24 NCIS Big Bang Theory Fringe How I Met Your Mother (ugh) Two and a Half Men The Mentalist Ugly Betty Grey's Anatomy They pretty much ignore: Survivor and Amazing Race CSI (all flavors), with the exception of NCIS...not sure why. Cop Shows (like Unusuals, Life on Mars) Dollhouse Sarah Connor Chronicles They also like some shows I've never seen: Gossip Girl Dancing with the Stars American Idol (ok, I've seen that one, but could care less). You'll note that a large number of the shows they talk about a LOT are on CBS...

The Unit has been a complete trainwreck from episode one. This last season has been the worst. Mamet has attempted to out-Neocon the Neocons. I find it amazing that a person of Mamet's intelligence has gone from being a traditional liberal to a Neocon at precisely the same time as the rest of the country was doing the exact opposite.

Steady schedule. People know when a show is going to be on unlike some networks I could mention in a cough [cough] Fox [cough]. All their crappy shows are given a chance to be terrible. Plus, the shows aren't very demanding of their audience. Whoever kills somebody gets caught by that one cop by the end of the show. Or, bad joke told, huge canned laugh.

I liked the first year, but the home front drama was just too soapy for me. Although the "at home" stories did give Summer Glau and John Hamm in somewhat interesting guest roles. Politics aside, the military stories could be intriguing.

the home front drama was dumb enough, but the move to use the wives as agents was LUDICROUS. The show really lost its way this past season. Mamet must have been working other projects, because it lost touch with his style in a big way.

It didn't really earn another season--it had become an "eye roller" during most of the episodes.

Too bad, really--in its prime, it was Greatness Exemplified.

I like to think that when the cancellation call came, Mamet picked up the phone and said "Speak The Words"

now there is literally nothing on prime time CBS for me

No Snake Doctor, Cool Breeze, Betty Blue, Whiplash, or Dirt Diver. You fucked up CBS. That was easily must see TV for me. Jack Bauer is the only other person on TV as badass as them. Sons of Anarchy would be dead in five minutes if they went up against them. Sydney Bristow would be hogtied in no time by them. Chuck's crew and the NCIS team goners. The A-Team would become the D-Team as in dead. Great show deserved a better time slot than late pre-empted sunday night. Miss it already.

A show with Shawn Ryan and David Mamet? With David Palmer as a military badass? Well the '93 Mets looked good on paper too. Besides saddling the audience with a domestic homefront that didn't earn our time (killed Over There as well), they would also have us swallow Mr. Ex-Jennifer Garner as a leader of men--a decision akin to casting Danny Pintauro as a MILF rocking gigolo.

Just dump the "homefront" parts of it and keep it show about political intrigue and covert operations.
They pretty much had it set up for that at the end of the last season, with the black lady separating from her husband, the whore lady buying a house in montana or something, the young mom getting her kids back, etc... Maybe a cameo here and there would be ok.

I'll miss The Unit terribly, but thankfully CBS DOES have a show that can pretty much fill it's shoes. In fact, I like the dialogue in Flashpoint much better than the unit. The Unit's dialogue always bothered me (especially when the women had conversations): It's like they'd be talking past each other many times. Flashpoint is easily my favorite drama on network TV right now. They haven't had a bad or boring episode yet, and many of them are gut-wrenching (the chick in the mall and the one where the guy that developed SRU tries to kill himself come to mind).

A little history here that apparently needs to be remembered. Without A Trace was the first show to dethrone ER in the coveted Thursday Night NBC ratings war. The Agency (Trace's predecessor) had made strides towards breaking NBC's hold over the 10pm and very coveted slot but Without A Trace was "THE" show that finally broke the camel's back. While it is true that ER was in long decline by the 2002 debut of Trace, the quality of the storylines brought them an unexpected and astounding 11 share, then a 14 share, then a c.20share. This rocketed WAT as a ratings darling. Enter the morons-in-management working on the three-sided wheel club. What absolutely boils my blood about this is that the show has been constantly disrespected by executive management over the past 4 years. For the fact alone that it dethroned ER, 'Trace' should have been a flagship of the network. However, some network genius(es) decided that it would function much better on Sunday nights paired with Cold Case, rather than CSI on Thursdays. Of course this was to make room for a sweetheart deal with James Woods getting preferential treatment to Anthony LaPaglia as the new kid in town so to speak. The results: What a wonderful ratings darling that abomination known as 'Shark' turned out to be. Good Job there CBS. Way to think on your feet!!!!! This move obviously blew up in CBS' face with such glowing results of management's "creative thinking" yielding the whole first half of this season being pre-empted weekly by Sunday Night Football runovers so that the show wouldn't BEGIN until 11:00pm on a Sunday night. WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT????? Mercifully, after one disastrous season, it was put back into its proper timeslot and lo and behold the ratings went back up. If you want a REAL telling perspective on this read Petersen's quote about the 'genius' behind this schedule change when interviewed during the Trace-CSI crossover episode. The fact that there was even a CSI-Trace crossover should be indicative of the RESPECT That this show had earned and should have been accorded. Apparently not in good ol' Les' world. Apparently the morons-in-management crew did NOT in fact learn the lessons of their first failure and decided to once again once again move (demote?) Without A Trace to Tuesday nights where it would begin to die a slow death in order that we make room for, get this, Eleventh Hour?????????? What exactly did 11th Hour earn to justify ripping a premiere product in a premium timeslot. The industry reviews PRIOR TO THE AIRING of the 11th Hour pilot were overwhelmingly negative and some even mocking. WTF CBS, nice way to treat a trophy in your case. Granted the soapy-writing had begun to feel trite and recycled. I would also submit that the show lost its edge when the procedural nature of season's 1,2 and 3 began to get usurped by the Lapaglia-Montgomery centric storylines. Still this is a pretty inglorious demise to what was once an unexpected powerhouse.....
