Continuing after the finale...without the whole cast...and they're actually thinking of adding a studio audience?!

I don't think I could be more empathic about a) what a fucking horrible idea this is and b) avoiding this show now.

Seriously, ABC, fuck you.

This is like giving a perfectly sane man a lobotomy or retracting the Emancipation Proclamation. The slow death of the laugh track has been a renaissance in television history. Who's idea was this?!!

a ninth season could be kick ass provided they get back to what made the show good to begin with.that equal part drama and funny is what we need. But i have serious doubt that itll happen. But I can be optimistic....oh and as queer as it is,5th suckas!

While season 8 was a vast improvement over 6 & 7, Scrubs is over. The level of humor in the first 5 seasons isn't there anymore, the actors look like they want to do other things. Still I don't mind watching, as long as it's funny! With a capital fun.

Oh and the Interns clips sucked.

There's no way there will be a laugh track and studio audience. That's why it says rumor. It would be the last nail in the coffin and make it the worst last season for a show since Roseanne or the X-Files. I have really liked Scrubs for it's entire run. It's always done a good job of bringing in new cast members at the right time and I figured it could work by ushering out most of the old cast in favor of the interns - like the rumor that has been floating around for a lot longer than the new one has claimed. It's going to be a bit anti-climatic though. The season finale would have made for a perfect series finale. It also would have been the perfect note for ZB to leave on.

come on, they made a whole episode that made fun of that very concept. they wouldnt then go and do it themselves. and continuing without J.D. is pretty retarded, this was HIS show, HIS story, HIS experiences. i mean he was a constant voiceover and every episode started with "My". you dont get rid of the main character, didnt X-Files teach tv-hollywood anything?

A spin off would be better because JD is gone. As Bouncy X said this show was about JD. This won't work. What will remain? Grumpy Dr. Cox? Glenn the Janitor and his happy adventures with Lady? Ted's rise to power? Turk loses his other ball? For Scrubs to work it would need a new crop of characters. And a serious infusion of new concepts. This is a bad idea. better to bank on Better Off Ted.

say what you want....but besides Arrested Development and Chappelle Show a few years ago Scrubs is the only current show I had to own on DVD...but new season should be set up as a spinoff/continuation like Mayberry RFD was to Andy Griffith Show.A.G. came back for a few episodes (as well as Don Knotts) to help transition...this could be the same for Zach Braff

Portia de Rossi is fantastic! As are the two scientist guys. I'd watch for those Veridian Dynamics ads alone.

As for Scrubs, do a spin-off and don't call it Scrubs anymore. Because it's not Scrubs anymore. It's over. Let it go. Make a spin-off, call it Sacred Heart or The S.H. or something, and hope it turns out more like Frasier and less like Joey.

The 9th season's wackier, meta feel makes it my favorite. I realize a lot of fans prefer the middle seasons, but I prefer when things were at their most idiosyncratic. And that's unusual for me. Scrubs, for example, is a show that did not handle "getting wackier" very well at all. Perhaps Seinfeld's success was due to its lack of pathos? I don't know.

Each episode of the show had basically the same template which they rarely deviated from, yet they still made it work for 8 years, and even though the last year was a little weak, it wasn't terrible. I liked the new interns (especially 'Jo') and wouldn't mind seeing it continue with them, but NOT as a 'filmed in front of a studio audience' show.

After two false series finales the gang realizes they are the undead and cannot be killed. As long as there are other series that Scrubs can feed off of, it will persist. You can thank Pushing Daisies for season 9 . BRAINS!!!

And my hatred for it. I don't need the writers to tell me when to laugh. If they have to then they fail. One of the reasons I love Scrubs, The Office, 30 Rock, Hell, even Earl is that I get to choose when to laugh and not be told when to. If Scrubs goes to a studio audience I'm done with it.

Christ, don't do that. They can't actually do that, right? It would be ridiculous.

Technically, the ending was a "J.D. is leaving" ending. So they allowed for it to continue. But it would be kinda weird to continue it. I mean, I thought it wasn't even doing that well. I kinda like one or two of the new intern characters, but losing J.D.'s narration alone will make the show feel weird.

the janitors name
by themastadon
May 16th, 2009
12:22:03 PM
i noticed a few of you mentioned that we found out the janitors name so that meant the shows over, but right after J.D. leaves another employee came over and said hey tony (i think, or tom maybe) and the janitor said hey. so we still do not have his name. now i am not advocating another season by any means, i actually think that the last episode the other week was probably one of the most fitting endings i've seen to a show. i feel it captured the essence of eight seasons perfectly, and i wouldn't have had it end any other way. will i watch a season 9? probably...but it'll never have the same spark as the show had before.

by RabidDogma

Or a studio audience? Hell, it's not even first in recent memory. Malcolm in the Middle didn't tell you where to laugh, and neither did Curb Your Enthusiasm. Scrubs barely beat Bernie Mac to the air as it is. First my ass.
they are probably thinking about a laugh track
by itrainmonkeys
May 16th, 2009
06:10:48 PM
because the wholy style of the show will have to change pretty much. Think about it....most episodes are narrated by JD and a lot of the fantasy stuff is from him. Sure they have the episodes that don't feature him and they still seem to get by fine......but full seasons with only a few times showing JD will mean they have to figure a new way to present the show.

I hope they don't get a laugh track/studio audience....wahtever
