Didn't think she would be the type of actress to be in such an over the top comic movie but damn she looks good.

Is that a Bichon on the cover? If so I think I found a comic my lady friend won't mind me buying.

is going on in DC comics anymore? I was following it through 52, and then just gave up...and then I heard they killed Batman, and I was like, forget this...I tell you what, I'm an educated, well-read individual who tried to immerse myself into the DC universe for several years, and finally I just gave up. If it's that hard for me to follow, I can't imagine what new readers or the semi-initiated feel like...

That was my favorite book for a very long time and will be picking it up this week. I just hope they can focus on the characters they already have and restrain from adding all-new ones. Also excited by some of the variant covers, like the Mcleod one. But why no Bill Sienkiewicz cover? That would have made more sense than Alex Ross.

Magik, Illyana, whoever, is one of my very favorite Marvel comics. Of course, she went through so much and so many permutations that she eventually got killed off and has now been rebooted. So...hurray!

I hope they stick with the original cast as well. Karma isn't on the cover, but she's a great character. Go New Mutants!

was just wondering...

...i've never been a comic book person, but I was reading through this article and I was just wondering if anyone knew what medium that groom lake was drawn in. It's really cool looking and I'm almost tempted to buy my first comic book ever just to see it in person.

The art on GROOM LAKE is by Ben Templesmith. He uses computer programs and scans on top of his own artwork for his unique looking images. Some hate this type of art, but I think it's damn cool. Also check out Ashley Wood, Bill Seinkiewicz, Ted McKeever, and Dave McKean for similar, yet distinct styles.

You can check out a miniseries that is coming out this winter from Bluewater that I wrote for similar style (but I can't tell you what it is yet until it's announced). :)

I got to admit, I always had a soft spot for the original New Mutant members (plus the first recruits of Magma, Magik, Warlock and Doug). They came at the time period when the X-Men were still pretty cool and looked upon by the rest of the Marvel Universe as second-stringers and rightfully overshadowed by the other heroes (remember when Spider-Man trashed the entire X-Men team in Secret Wars? Priceless).

And as big as underdogs as the X-Men were, they added a team of even greener mutants to Xavier Mansion for us to follow. A team that was never meant to be superheroes but always ran into problems because they were associated with the X-Men and Xavier.

What I really loved about them was that a character who was no match for the X-Men could give the New Mutants a run for their money. We got to see them fight one Sentinel instead of dozens, and instead of fighting the entire Brotherhood of Evil Mutants they had their asses handed to them by the Blob.

Pick up the miniseries Welcome to Hoxford if you are interested in Ben's style. If you like that you can also check out a picture book of him drawing all the Presidents. Then once you've come to the Templesmith side you can immerse yourself into Woormwood.
Thanks guys...
