Hello? Rest of the universe calling here. Hulu's useless. When, WHEN are you going to STOP using it and go with something which can be used somewhere other than just the 'Only We Matter States of America'?
They bleep the vulgarities?

They produce a series meant to show the "harsh-reality" of being a cop in some of these neighborhoods and then take you right out of it by bleeping out certain words just so the network can remind you "This isn't 'The Shield' but we wish it were!"

So, it's a smart, nuanced drama that doesn't have any real action or tit-factor.

Focus on corrupt cops like Vic Mackey.

And what's with the unattractive actresses? Dump 'em.

Too late. I'm not going to watch it anyway.

I saw it way before you did Herc.

Just putting it out there. Oh, and I thought that it wasn't bad. Not too happy with the casting. The kid does a good job though. Probably the best actor in the show. Watching gangbangers get shot is always a plus in my book. If the show keeps killing them I'll be watching it.

Are they bleeps or do they simply kill the sound for the word? I find the bleep noise less distracting than disappearing audio.

See, it's a show about cops! In LA!

Nobody has any reason at all to be uneasy about watching a show about cops in LA, do they?

Make a show about cops somewhere else other than in New York or California? Jeez my two favs were both set in Baltimore and turned out to be two of the best shows ever made.

From the commercials, with the focus on the vet and the rookie, NBC might've well just called this "COP SHOW". Its funny that critics are calling this gritty, when it looks like stuff Joseph Wambaugh did better 35 years ago.
And this looks as generic as ABC's The Unusuals

Amber Tamblyn could keep dressing like a hooker though--that was nice.

These are bleeps. Bleeps work better when you're actively advertising the presence of censored vulgarity as a reason to watch your show, which Southland sadly seems to be doing.

Paraphraising a rightfully sarcastic Adam Carolla "When s The Black Man Gonna Get A Chance In The Fight Game?" Paraphrasing rightfully sarcastic Talkbackers "When Is The Cop Show Gonna Get A Chance On TV?" Enough with the police procedurals. P.S. I watched SOUTHLAND and, other than the always shaking camera effect, it was okay.
Don't worry if this doesn't pan out.

The producer(s) already have other ideas ready to go. Their backups include: Northland, Eastland, and Westland. All the bases are covered.
