At long last, this opens the door to get Method Man as Cheese in the warehouse. God bless Craig Robinson, but if the writing staff really wants to sell their blacks-intimidating-whites jokes they could do no better than Meth as Melvin Wagstaff. Then they could get Robinson and Patrice O'Neal together for the next birthday party to perform C.R.E.A.M. with him.

Season Finale -- McNulty

A very special "The Office." A disgraced former "murder police" from "Body-more, Murderland" hires on to Dunder-Mifflin, Scranton. The new guy, Jimmy, suffers from a deeply ingrained distrust of authority. Hilarity ensues when Jimmy begins plotting against Michael. Complications arise when Holly returns from the hinterlands and she and Jimmy begin a relationship, causing Michael no shortage of consternation. We learn that Holly has two children, who lovingly refer to Jimmy by his surname. A montage of the turmoil wrought by this newcomer plays in the final minutes of this special 79-minute episode, brought to you without commercial interruption. Spoiler Alert: new ground will be broken in network television as Jimmy's final words in the season cliffhanger, "What the fuck did I do?" air without the censor's bleep. It's not TV, it's NBC!!!

Always good to see a talented and underused actor find work, and especially the erstwhile Mr. Bell, whose performance on The Wire was one of the best on a great, great show. The final scene between Stringer and Avon Barksdale, where both struggle with the weight of their shared past as they try to set each other up, was one of the best-played dramatic scenes in recent TV. I think the US "Office" is starting to run out of gas but still has moments for now and I'm glad to see Idris Elba get this role.

i don't get the office hate??
by slappy jones
Mar 19th, 2009
05:28:02 PM
is it a rule that something has to be hated on eventually no matter what?? the office has hardly slipped that far down in quality. its as if there is a honeymoon period and then no matter what a show, director, actor franchise whatever does it must be hated and people must talk about how bad it has gotten. last weeks office was great? has there been patchy episodes - yes of course but i just don't see where the office has gotten to a point that people prey for it to end. if you don't like it DON'T WATCH IT. its as simple as that. Its kinda like people complaining about how bad the simpsons has gotten. look i agree about that one but guess what ... i stopped watching it because i don't like it anymore. and i don't go to simpson related threads to go on about it...who gives a fuck.

Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, and haters gotta hate....the Office has slipped somewhat from the awesomeness of the 2nd and 3rd seasons, but it is still one of the best sitcoms on TV with an amazing ensemble cast. I don't think it has a "zillion" more episodes in it, but at least a couple more seasons would be nice. The Simpsons is still pretty funny sometimes (the new HD episodes have been fairly solid so far) but where's the hate for Family Guy, which has been weak at best this season (an OJ Simpson episode? Really?)

Yes...occasionally even VERY funny. But the characters, with all but zero growth, are starting to wear thin. Shows can only stay interesting / engaging for so long. I've long thought the mark was around 5 years...a little more for some, a little less for others, but around 5. The Office is getting close. An example: the Jim-Pam tension subplot when Pam was in NY earlier this year was as clumsy as it was stupid.

It is exponentially worse - the more that Michael Scott acts like a petulant, Peter-Griffin-esque man-child. I'm sorry, but Steve Carrell single-handedly has been derailing the show since the 3rd season's end.

he is trying-to-hard to be cool and making social gaffes with absolutely no self-awareness, IMO. NOT when he's a whiny, cry-baby who needs to get his way or he'll act like a 5 year old. Sadly, since season 3, we've been getting far too much of the latter.

The Wire kicked the holy hell out of the Sopranos, when both series are taken in their entirety. You all know it. There is simply no comparison between the two. And Idris Elba is the baddest mofo on the planet. And RockNRolla was also badass. And the Office is still great, though I'm thinking 30 Rock might be edging it out.

Sure, Dwight's an ass, but Jim tried to run him under the bus twice, AND later seemed to be angling for Michael's job with his "hey guess what, I'm the NUMBER TWO MAN around here" ass-kissery, after he saw the tension between Charles and Michael. Did the writers know this is how Jim came off? His 'comeuppance' by getting dissed by Charles was strangely satisfying.
