Edgar, if you see this, if you haven't seen HORROR HOSPITAL grab a copy now!! The best entertainingly great 'bad' film starring Robin Askwith??aka the guy from the 'confession' movies. A burnt out british hippy or 'bippy' leaves his crappy band to take a holiday in the country...a resort run by a crazy scientist (Alfred from Burton Batman), a midget (always good value) and various henchmen dressed in motorbike leathers and helmets to disguise the fact they could only afford 2 guys. I could praise it for hours but i won't, you just have to see it for the car with built in head removing blade (that you can see a flash of prop guys hand chucking a head on screen). Brill Brill Brill.
I can say without a doubt...

That's a great review. One of the most fun that I've read on the site. I applaud the philosophy that there are no "guilty pleasures", too. This sounds like a lot of fun.
That was awesome.

After that review, Virgin Witch is right up there with Watchmen on my must-see list.

Kudos for mentioning Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Edgar. That show deserves more praise.

You clearly spent to much time in the late 70's trawling British TV's, then three channels, for wanking material and it's effected your movie taste permanently. Strange to think, in these porn drenched times, that back then it was late night horror or a french film on BBC2 for a teenage geek and his rampaging hormones.

Edgar wanted to get peeks of Joanna Lumley and Wendy Richard in their heydays too!

And I love the shoutout to Darkplace. That automatically bumps up the "must see" factor of this film.

Guilty pleasures...
by Mr Gorilla

Nice piece, brilliant piece, the one bad thing being that surely the movie can only be a disappointment after that fantastic description. But surely there ARE such things as guilty pleasures: films which overtly contradict morals you might hold, but which you enjoy anyway. I guess the cineaste egghead 'guilty pleasure' is BIRTH OF A NATION. And you admitted to being a little guilty about enjoying a film where the satanists get to live but the lesbian dies; oh, and the heroine gets rescued from non-consensual sex by a cheating boyfriend who then screws her anyway.
Right fucking on.

Always love watching crappy horror films ever since the days of the first video store. They would rent me anything and by the age of 13, I had seen nearly every horror on the rack. I'll probably buy this on DVD.

As for the trailer "Don't", I always thought you took the idea from "Corruption" rather than "The Flesh and Blood show". The scene with Nick Frost reminded me of the scene with what looks like a train guard in the "Corruption" trailer.

The Flesh and Blood Show is also in the it's so shit, it's amazing list.

Dear Mr. Wright, you are a fine director, whose work I greatly admire. But you are a poor Quint. You don't strike me as needing a yes man, and I am sure you won't mind me saying that was a bit anal. You had me at Vicki Michelle naked. That's enough to set me searching. Can't read the rest as it will ruin the plot. Thanks anyway.don't give up the main job!

And I know what you mean about incident covering so much ground in the viewing experience. At the same time, so much of that is covered by personal taste... I love Millenium, but does it hit me as a work of art, or even craft, on the level of 2001 - a film it clearly wrestles with? The enjoyment of a Bic Mac over a well-prepared filet mignon in bourdelaise has nothing to do with the quality of the ingredients. Truth be told, when I eat a Big Mac, I do feel a bit guilty for doing that to myself.

never should you feel guilty for liking something. One mans citizen kane is another mans the happening. See I loved The Happening. Quite possibly the best time I had at the movies last year. Was it for the reasons the film makers intended? well if they intended to make the funniest film of the year then yes but I have a feeling that wasn't the goal Doesn't take anything away from the fact that I loved every single minute of it. and I will never feel guilty about it.
Cults
by Dancingforever

What happened to great satanic cult movies? These were so good in the day and they have somewhat disappeared. I think if any genre deserves a rebirth it would be the Satanic Cult Genre, maybe mix in a little film noir with it and of course have the big twist where the sympathetic protagonist turns heel in the third act. Just talking about this gets me excited to write something. Perhaps something with a modern twist where Satanic Cultists battle Scientologists, think werewolves vampires in Underworld movies where each would have cool powers. The Scientologists would have mental attacks and also financial devestation they could cause. The Satanists would have wicked music and maybe upside down cross daggers they could throw.

Greatest. Title. Ever. They really should have gone with that name.

Someone should make a film called that right away. I can't imagine that film not doing any business, even if it sucked people would still flock to it because of the title. Hell I'll write it:

FADE IN:

INT. HOUSE - NIGHT

Sitting down, reading, is the LESBIAN TWINS...

See, it writes itself.

I was at the grocery store in December and for only $14 they had a calendar/DVD set. It feauted some unknown, but some well known movies and posters. The poster was the illustration for the month, and the DVDs of the movies were included. It has The Brain that Wouldn't Die (classic bad movie), Night of the Living Dead, Teenage Zombies, Dementia 13, House on Haunted Hill (classic Vincent Price) The Terror (maybe one of Karloff's last) The Devil Bat (Lugosi), Nosferatur, The Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein's Daughter, Revolt of the Zombies, and White Zombie (yes that's where Rob took the name). I was tempted to get it but it was still pricy even for just over a buck a movie. Then last week since it's already January it went on sale for $3.75. Sold, suckers. I've already seen two of the flicks. The Terror has probably one of the worst Jack Nicholson performances in existence.
