... is that - assuming it were a series for TV and not a once-a-year direct-to-DVD thing - is that no network on TV (broadcast, cable, or otherwise) is going to let Indy fight Nazis, because it would be considered inappropriate for kids and possibly offensive to Jews, or Japanese because it would be politically incorrect. Nazis are okay for movies since they're perfectly okay for everyone to hate but Indy hasn't so much as flipped off a soldier of Imperial Japan in 4 movies over 27 years. And if you tale Indy away from Nazis, you take away part of the authenticity of the era he's supposed to be adventuring in. I'm not saying he always has to fight Nazis, but you want them to pop up every now and then, and in an animated series for TV, it ain't gonna happen. But it would be cool.

All cartoons suck, they do. You know this in your heart to be true. I grew up watching, them and I have a DVD shelf full of them. I'm always excited for the next project and always disgusted by the results. The Batman Animated Series was one of the best. After you have seen one episode you have seen them all, I put them on at night when I can't sleep. It helps, try it.

...to ever happen. Enough has been said since 1999 about George Lucas losing his touch and I'm not going to rehash it here. We all know that if an animated Indy were going to happen (and honestly, it could and should have happened anywhere in the last 20 years), the same house that's doing Clone Wars now would be developing it. A Paul Dini Indy series would be amazing! Direct to DVD, webisode - hell, I'd settle for the poster.

No no no no no. Leave Indy alone. Isn't STAR WARS a big enough ATM for you, George? Must you destroy another franchise by stretching another beloved film series as far as it will go, to the point of bland kid stuff? Did we learn nothing from Crystal Skull? Oh, what's the point.

Lucas is a jealous control freak. Look at Tartakovsky's Clone Wars. That was vastly superior to any of the prequels, and because of that reason Lucas had to make a shitty CGI remake that he could control and put gay Hutts in and shit. I'd rather never see an animated Indy project than see one in which Lucas was breathing down the necks of the artists saying "That's great, but can you put more groan inducing puns in it? And can we have one fat goofy Nazi that farts all the time? And while you're at it, can we give Indy a green alien space monkey pet that causes all sorts of mischief? Cuz the kids love that shit."

A large part of the success of the Indy character, other than the obvious--Spielberg--is the personality, charm and persona that a 1980's-era Harrison Ford brought to the part. None of the famous exasperated Indy looks, the furious index finger or the sly Indy half-smile. Without Ford, this is just an animated Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
Erm---'personality' synonymous with 'persona'.

Forgive my ignorance, but why would it be offensive for there to be Nazi bad guys all the time? It's not like they're going to be portrayed in a positive way. Indy's gonna kick their asses anyway, what Jewish person wouldn't like seeing Nazis getting beat up every week? Maybe I've got the wrong angle on this, but it seems pretty awesome to me. Lucas will make sure none of this happens, so it's a moot point anyway.

Just some barrelshaped kick ass type. Art deco environment. Tommy guns. Giant Robots. Lazerbeams. Make it happen if you want to re-boot SUPERMAN.

Agree with FleshMachine: Lucas has proven he has lost his golden touch from the 1970s and 1980s & should be kept at arms length (give him exec prod credit or something). Let young & ambitious filmmakers come in and write scripts - all of them set between 1927 and 1945 - and have a show runner work a season long arc among them. Now there's a show I'd stay home for.

While the writing on those Fleischer toons wasn't hot shit, the art was amazing and very able to convey adventure and excitement with its careful drawings and increased depth. Indy would be well-served with that. But I don't see the connection between Fleischer's Superman and BTAS which had style but nowhere near the feeling of depth.

"Forgive my ignorance, but why would it be offensive for there to be Nazi bad guys all the time?" For the same reason you never saw an animated version of the Red Skull with a swastika. Its not a matter of people actually taking offense. Its a matter of pussy network execs who are afraid someone will take offense, cause a media stink, create bad PR, and cause a loss in ad revenue or merchandise sales.

...and they've had Indiana Jones Nazi (I'm sorry, "German") bad guy action figures for sale for months now with no complaints. No swastikas, obviously. I just think you'd need Nazis (or, "Germans") for an effective Indy story in that era, since all the Indy films that didn't have Nazis sucked to varying degrees. We also recently learned that Cold War Soviets are a poor substitute. None of this matters anyway, this is never gonna happen.
