Bladerunner, Ghost In The Shell, or Dollhouse? Or is it, dare I say, something new?... ish?
Showtimes's answer to Dollhouse?

knowing Whedon's lousy luck, Dollhouse will get canned before it reaches 13 eps but SYNS will run for a Stargate SG-1-like 12 frakking seasons.
Central concept sounds like "The Island"

and "The Island" had to settle out of court for sounding too much like "Parts: The Clonus Horror". Hopefully the rest of it's different - and good.

remember her from Project Greenlight 2, was she the one that actually got her script approved?
Greenlight 2 winner was Erica Beeney.

More importantly, she's been shepherding Supernatural along for three years, as an Executive Story Editor and then this year as Supervising Producer. She did most of their vampire stories, and while she hasn't done any of the major storyarc episodes, she's done decent work throughout.
I'd bang a synth. And you would too.

They will be used for sex. Wouldn't we all rather see something along the lines of Brin's Kiln People? Even Whedon's new series sounds boring as hell. Doing memory wipes is a screenwriter's crutch almost as bad as timetravel. Who wants to watch a show about people who, by design, don't matter to society?

All stolen from his novel "Spares." Really should have sued "The Island" as well as "the Clonus Horror." I think they would have filmed "Spares" if it didn't go batshit crazy half way through.

As much as I dig Joss Whedon and his genre work, I'm having a hard time getting excited for "Dollhouse." Maybe it's because Eliza Dushku, who's cute but at best a quality supporting actress, is the show's lead? I don't know.

I'm excited to see where "Syns" goes, though. Good science fiction is good science fiction, regardless of budget. If hundreds of Syns are walking around doing things on this show, it sounds like an evocative setup for a hard science fiction drama.

I'll most definitely check it out.
