She must learn to overcome her family's prejudices, while he must struggle against a racist society to fufill his academic and romantic dreams. But what about the grandmother who is addicted to heroin and the kindly uncle who practices folk magic? Barriers will be broken, quirkiness will happen, and we will all feel better about ourselves for having watched this film.
