I really didn't think...

...a Wayans collaborator could be behind a film with such an amusing trailer. More of a Project Terror than a Death Proof this one, obviously, but should raise a big smile at least.

With QoS being so underwhelming, and this trailer kicking so much ass, why not shoot the next Bond film with a 10 dollar budget, have a dozen Bond girls...oh I mean "bitches", and get this guy in his 100$ suit so he can stop the bad guys from stealing Bolivia's water. Nah...fuck it...just have him fight Lo Pan!

I never can really get into any satire of it because it's just too easy and it seems like it would only be funny to the people that aren't really too familiar with it. I'd rather just watch Human Tornado again or seek out some arcane never released on dvd flick then watch something like this.

Why Isn't Michael Jay White a bigger star?

The guy is a legend. I blame Spawn I guess but, in a world where we've lost the only other black guy who can kick ass in Hollywood (Hello Mr Snipes), we need someone like Jay White. If I've spelt his name wrong, please don't tell him as I reckon he could kill me with just one finger.

(Incidentally, one of my friends regularly brings up his favourite scene in "Exit Wounds" where they introduce White's character using just his HUGE arm.)

Devoid of charisma and acting ability? Do you think so? I always enjoy seeing him onscreen. In fact, i'd say his acting ability is about the same as Jason Stratham who is still managing to land roles in some of the bigger action movies.

P.S Well done for escaping the trap of writing my name in your headline. I'm still waiting for someone to do it....

I've never let a lack of charisma and acting ability stop me from enjoying a movie. That's probably why Nightbeast is my favorite movie. As far as Statham is concerned even his lack of talent isn't enough to salvage the movies he's in.

He owns everything he needs to make a film, in his home town. We all know that he can shoot fast, if he wants to. He needs to do it fast and cheap. I think it's a wasted opportunity.

I was so excited for Grindhouse! Unfortunately, they spent so much time mocking the era with the "scratchy" film and poor editing, they left in cell phones, Lindsey Lohan name drops, and other modern crap that took me right out of the experience. The only 2 things I really liked about Grindhouse were Machete(perfect) and Thanksgiving(near perfect except for the modern day "porn star" boobs). Not only do the costumes, film color & quality, and script make this seem like a true 70's exploitation movie, it also has tits that look like they're from that era.

Please tell me this is going to make it to theaters!!! Anybody know the release date? This is now my number one must see movie. This is the type of film that Grindhouse should have launched into everyday theatergoers consciousness. I will buy tickets now!

This is the fucking hog's balls. This is the fucking tits. This is the fucking greatest thing I've seen since 'Don't', the trailer by Edgar Wright shown during Grindhouse. Fuck. They need to make 'Don't', and soon, I'll have another flick to add to my modern Grindhouse film festival...Death Proof, Planet Terror, Machete (coming soon)...and Black Dynamite.

Rated AR-Uh.

Seriously, I love Shaft and Dolomite as much as the next guy, but they were real movies. This is a fucking parody sketch that stretches thin after the 2 minute mark. Wow a send up of blaxploitation movies? How fucking original! How many fucking things do we need anyway?
I'll say it again: WHEN IS THIS COMING OUT?

For all the press it's getting, both here and at CHUD, you'd think somebody would be able to squeeze out a release date; all IMDB sez is "2008". Look, GNR's "Chinese Democracy" finally came out ferchrissakes; surely we can get a date for BLACK DYNAMITE!
parody, serious... who cares?

if it's funny AND serious, like SHAFT and CLEOPATRA JONES, it will be a classic blaxploitation film. The trailer looks over-the-top without trying to be a parody, which is what the 2 aformentioned flicks were.

For me, it'll always be COFFY and FOXY BROWN...one because a dope pusher gets his head blown off in the first few minutes (pretty obviously a seedless watermelon, but still very cool) and the other because it's the only film in which you can hear a black dude NOT give a convincing line-reading when saying "Right on, brother!" Oh, and mainly because Pam was (and still is) da hotness.
I'm amazed by how much I like Blaxploitation

Honky Cracker that I am and all. It's a fun fuckin' genre that started in a time when its target audience were literally being left out of the mainstream film industry. I'll second the Pam Grier hotness as well.

That means it won't make it to conventional theaters (if it even has a chance at doing so) until, at best, fall of next year!

That is stupid as hell.

The trailer has only 12 seconds of new material

... the rest (including the voice overs) is taken from an assortment of genuine 70's blaxploitation movies... I doubt a real/finished product can come of that.
Yeah, is this a full movie, or a compilation?

All the source footage in the trailer makes it look like a blaxploitation DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID (which I would happily go see, but what's going on here?).

...And knows someone who has worked on it very little of the footage is from older Blaxplotation movies, mostly b-roll for stock and montages. As for the trailer, maybe six shots are from older movies.

Sure, a lot of the stuff is shot to resemble other movies (parody, homage or rip off, your call), but the vast majority of it is original footage. As for the VO, well it might be a word for word rip off of another movies narration (I have never heard it) but what you are hearing was specifically recorded for this movie.

Well, I hope you're correct but as for the VO stuff, I collect Blaxploitation radio spots and the audio used in that trailer ARE the original radio VOs, edited - they are *not* remakes.

I am curious what movie the trailer VO is from, because the actor who is saying it is in the movie. I wonder did they have him recreate it or if they used an old VO he did before.

This movie looks all new except for some stock footage of street scenes and things like that. And the voice over seems all new too, but I'm sure they were doing their best to sound like Rudy Ray Moore. I even checked to see if he actually did do the VO but he died earlier this year. And I think this will debut at Sundance in January.
Yeah, I find it hard to believe this VO isn't original

…When he announces the names of people who don’t even exist (try googling any of the cast name) and then says that the film was shot in "Anamorphic Dou-Vision". Everyone knows that process wasn’t invented until 1987, duh.
