If you haven't watched the show you are missing out. It's easily the best American comedy to have aired in a long, long time. So, why did it go away? Well, that can be summed up in a single word: FOX.

It will make a lot more money than that at theaters. Arrested Development has such a use dvd fan base that will rush out to see this. If Serenity could make money this most certainly will. The thing that plagued AD most was a lack of decent advertising. A single trailer with Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, and GOB doing his magic tricks will sell the film to all those Superbad and Juno fans. Add in something akin to analrapist jokes and some pot smoking humor and the frat boys will be on board as well. The movie will be cheap to produce, spare the cast salaries, and will turn a huge profit so long as it maintains what made just about every episode of the series so wonderful.
If this gets a film, Farscape and Pushing Daisies should too.

is that there is SO much back story, that either they ignore the wide non-AD fans and just go with it. Or waste time to introduce each character and their quirks. Sex And The City was easy, because how much back story do you need for four slags who treat men like shit for 95% of the movie?

AD is an acquired taste. I remember seeing an ep when it was airing and being confused and not amused. I didn't get it. Then I saw it later and couldn't stop laughing. So the movie should just be a two hour episode, and those who don't get it at first will return to the tv eps and get the humor and acclimation. I mean, the jokes are freakin' hilarious in and of themselves, but with the background knowledge of the family (Anyong!) it becomes that much more funny. It'll be one that gets better the more you watch it.

this show was a gem. for me it was the first show to abolish the laugh track and have me never able to sit through pre-AD sitcoms again. my big problem was the funniest bit about the show was the running gags "chicken" "never-nude" "no-touching" but that was developed over time, you really had to sit and watch them all even the finale many jokes were missed until i watched the whole show for a second time. i wish them the best of luck and i'm like you i want to see more of the bluth family. but i've come to terms with the death of AD and now i feel like they are digging up grave's. ron howard an his brother still look strange.

apart from with fans of the show. The comedy is often far too reliant on in jokes that have been running for 3 seasons, it's impossible to please people coming to see the film who didn't watch the show and t hose who did. And it'll end up struggling to do both and probably suckk.

And I'll tell you why! I discovered this show while channel surfing. It was a random episode, but I gave it a few minutes of my time and I found myself laughing. So I watched the rest of the episode, laughed my ass off and have been a huge fan ever since.

True Story!

The running jokes are great for the fans, and i would expect them in the flick (the chicked especially... ga-ga-gaw!) but i think it's funny enough to catch on with the non-fans.

Anyway, who gives a fuck about non-fans!

"But Michael found he was overwhelmed with the change", and, "And of course, the whole event was covered by the paper." I'm not going to explain the context of these scenes, or the tons of entendre going on in them, but they're just brilliantly written. Also, how can you guys say this won't make money? AD is much more popular than it was when it started, and pretty much all of the stars are HUGE celebrities right now.

you have to wonder whether AD would actually work on the big screen-I have a feeling they would have to re-tool the format. On tv and DVD its great to have wall to wall jokes that are constantly zipping by so fast you have to watch a couple of times to get it all in,but in a cinema....particularly to new audiences...I dont know if it would work. Theres too much info in the 22 minute tv show, and an hour and a half film might be overload....that said, I'll be first in line if this gets made. Im still waiting for my "Dr. Funke's 100% Natural Good Time Family Band Solution" t-shirt to arrive in the mail!

that doesn't make you an idiot, but it might qualify you for the Obama cabinet. Oh-no-he-didn't! I'm excited. Hopefully, they'll be able to balance the need for a complete story with the show's character. Somthing the Simpsons' movie couldn't do well. What I mean is, I hope we don't have to hang on an extra fifteen minutes for a conclusion when the movie feels like it should be over, already.
