Great cinema? No, and I know it. But it's fun watching Statham. The second one was WAY over the top with that scrape-the-bomb off the bottom of the car stunt (not to mention the "can you fly" leap out the window. Which is fine, but when you decide to make your protagonist a superhero, you lose some of that audience attachment. Unlike, say, the first Die Hard. But hey, that's the diff here--you walk in waiting to see Statham kick ass HIS way, and you just go along with the crazy ass sh1t

Guilty pleasure is what it is. We know it and boy does the film makers fucking know it! Strange thing is that Statham was first and foremost a proper fucking actor but is more than content to be the new kickass cult DVD king. The second just became a ridiculous cartoon with the impossible stunts, especially with the scene where Frank removes a bomb attached to his car's undercarriage by flipping the car in midair and hooking the bomb onto a crane before it explodes. I HOPE this new movie isn't more of the same. Stick with the ubercool martial arts/hand-to-hand stuff and keep the car stunts to driving really fast and plausible maneuvers. The more they pull Frank out of the "real world" and into Knight Rider/My-car-can-do-anything-l and, the worse this series gets. PLEASE... just make Frank an ethical bad@$$ we can cheer for. No more seeing bullets coming and dodging them like Neo! :(
