probably either about an old man, a hospital, a school or the porn industry. Porn is unlikely on network tv, old man would be boring, and I can't picture Amy Poehler as a doctor. Plus Scrubs has already been there recently. So I guess it's about a school.

Scrubs shot in the Office's style, with Amy Poehler as the Dr. Cox character. Unfortunately that sounds like a trifecta of staleness

You really wanted a spin-off? Really? Just be happy it's some of the same creative people trying something new.

I love Rashida Jones, and I love the fact that Greg Daniels maneuvered NBC out of the OFFICE spinoff that they wanted (Dunder Mifflin Buffalo?) into something that he wanted. I'm eager to see this show.

Given that this started off as a spin-off of The Office, and is using the same style etc, I hope the not-a-spinoff decision wasn't made in order to cut them out.

i would say no. Obviously they get paid for the US Version because its based on their intellectual property...the same wont apply for something based on something.....unless that first something centered around a character that was based on something they invented(Ryan, Jim, Pam, Michael, or i guess jan and Packer)

"Hey, look over there, George Lucas is shooting a scene with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher! It must be the next Star Wars sequel!"

"No, no, no, that's Blue Harvest. It has nothing to do with Star Wars. It's completely different."

"Uh, yeah, but isn't that Chewbacca over there?"

"Uh, uh, no. That's uh, that's uh... Bewchacca... the cigar chomping foul mouthed but good-hearted sasquatch. Oh, he loves to quip!"

"Oh."

Why would rickey and stephen get paid?

This didn't start as a spinoff. There were two ideas, this and the spinoff, and this non-spinoff idea won out.

As to the mockumentary style, that was not original to Gervais's Office, it was pioneered on tv by The Larry Sanders show among others. The UK office simply evolved an already existing style.

First, it was announced that the team behind The Office would be makina spin-off. Then it was announced that the creative team would be making another sitcom, but not an Office spin-off. After that it was announced that there would be both a new sitcom and an Office spin-off from the Office team. Now, it seems that there is a new sitcom but no spin-off. Is it me who is confused or Herc? Or does NBC not know what the fuck it is doing?
