Too bad Craig Gass looks absolutely nothing like Kinison (and isn't much of an actor), because he sounds more like Kinison than Kinison does!

And love me classic Kinison. Don't really see that balls of fury dude playing him, but I will give it a chance!
This kind of comedy can no longer exist

The same with Eddie Murphy, and to an extent Richard Pryor. These comics were beyond the pale of modern standards, and for better or worse would no longer be performable for mass consumption. This is why Eddie is no longer a comedian. That Said, If you can appreciate the context of the time when it was made, then Kinsion is some wicked funny shit

Dan Fogler HAD to be Kinison, but looks like other people had the great idea, too.

...Eddie Murphy lives to a ripe old age, so we never have to see an Eddie Murphy biopic starring Will Smith!

Has there ever been a successful one? The only two I can think of are "Lenny" and "Man on the Moon" and neither one of them were that great. They were decent, respectful, and in no way as entertaining as the subjects themselves.

I saw Sam Kinison perform at the Tampa Theatre...

...several years before he died, and he was so goddamned funny I nearly pissed myself. We all gave him a standing ovation when he walked on stage, and when he finished his show we literally roared our approval. He ended the show by asking an audience member about to call his ex-girlfriend, who had fucked his best friend. Sam actually called the guy's girlfriend, and I remember him asking her, "I, and the 3,000 people here at the Tampa Theatre, want to know why YOU FUCKED HIS BEST FRIEND????!!!!!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! That was incredible. I knew he would not live to be an old man, because he joked about in his act. He told us that in Vegas he saw an old man peeing in the bathroom and moaning in pain, and he said that when it hurt to piss that was it! He talked about using drugs that increased his sexual stamnia, and he warned us that those drugs would shorten your years, but it would only shorten the bad years at the end of your life, not the good ones. If an actor can actually play Sam and do it right, he will win the Best Actor Oscar. I do not know of anyone who can do it right, but I wish C
Howard Stern owns the rights to Kinison's life story.

You knew he would not live to be an old man? He didn't die because of his self abuse to his body...he died in a car accident that wasn't his fault. He had no part in his death.

The first time I laid eyes on this guy was another one of Dangerfield's specials that was a jumping off point for several comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld, Robert Townsend, and Roseanne Barr (yep, she was funny once). Sam was the next to the last act, and he killed! Some of the funniest stuff I ever heard up to that point. If you can find it online or whatever, it's worth a look. A friend of mine heard me talking about it and bought me the DVD. Awesome talent, died too young.
If he had lived, I wouldn't be missing George Carlin so much

Honest to God, there just aren't any great stand up comedians for life anymore. They all go completely to Hollywood. I thought Dennis Leary would be a good substitute for Carlin, but he's gone actor too. Sam's comedy would've grown and matured like Carlins did, I'm sure. Damn, who else is there?
Best comic ever

For sure. No one could kill like Sam Kinison. Made me laugh so hard my whole body hurt. Just amazing, raw, incredible. Good luck recreating that.

At least something is coming about. I always felt as much as I love Sam Kinison. I don't think it would make money at the box office. Would love to be wrong. Yet just don't think so. This man should not be forgotten.
