Also, the Asian chick is hot. Not enough reason to watch the show, though.

Can one dress up as Captn Jack Harkness?
by Amy Chasing
Nov 9th, 2008
11:45:50 PM
I mean a guy in a long black trench-coat and suspenders (pants-suspenders, not... well, he IS Captn Jack Harkness, so the clarification is valid) is just a guy in a trench-coat and suspenders.

I submit you can't dress up as Captn Harkness. You're either him, or you're not.

... and the sooner he gets his own show (with better writers) will not be soon enough.

Good idea!

The bad acting was amplified by the campy, corny, silly, stupid ideas. You make a dumbed down show for little kids, of course the ratings are going to plummet. There are so many better, cooler ways to approach a show featuring an "entity" with artificial intelligence that they could have explored. Really, what's the point of having a fully sentient machine if it's just going to be used as a gadget? If they're going to do a reboot, make it a serious drama and explore issues about humanity, ethics, relationships, dangers of technology etc. That's what good science fiction is about, not chasing bad guys of the week with a hot rod.

Of the original. I have no problem admitting that. I'm not saying it was a well-written show by any stretch of the imagination. But growing up in the '80s, KR and Dukes of Hazzard were class shows. Sure, I've watched reurns and there are many wince-inducing moments throughout. But there's still a sense of adventure to it that a lot of newer series lack because they are overthought and overwrought. This new show is a good example. It blows and if you're already on your third iteration of the concept in the first season (last spring's movie included), it's time to toss in the head gasket.
get rid of the retard CGI
by lynxpro
Nov 10th, 2008
01:12:31 AM
I find the CGI to be the worst aspect of this show. The CGI'ed up blower on KITT looks stupid and obviously fake. The CGI "Turbo Boost" which looks like a repulsor (sic) lift hover is equally dumbtastic. That needs to go. And then the whole car transforming based upon what an ass fuck at Microsoft speculated regarding the abilities of cars 20 years from now needs to also be dumped. Microsoft should never be consulted about future tech because time and time again, they can't even figure out modern tech and are constantly behind the likes of Sony, Apple, and Google. Bruce Davison needs to be kept and this whole hokey looking *Las Vegas* vibe needs to be dropped for pure action and something that resembles the old *Knight Rider* but without the ironic cheese. Seriously, if this show in its present form had half its budget, it would be lucky to be shown on the USA Network. The leads are definitely not the problem, its the production, the sucktastic effects, and the shitty writing. Throw some cash at some respectable genre writers to tender some scripts.

To be fair Davison and Poitier have had nothing to do every week but I'm surprised they're dumping Arias since he actually had something to do each week. What I don't get is why they didn't fire Paul Campbell. I know he was on Galactica and therefore has some fan-cred, but he's absolutely fucking horrible in KR. Nov 10th, 2008
04:32:43 AM
Look at how Supernatural stopped being the 'take it or leave it' monster of the week show, to a compelling serial that you miss at your peril if you wanna know what's developing. Knight Rider, like any dramatic series, needs a major developing story arch - a plot. Darker the better - then the lighter stuff (which there's plenty of scope for with KITT) balances it, rather than coming off cheesy.

Knight Rider

Nov 10th, 2008
07:35:05 AM
I like the show. I don't "love" the show but most of the problem is the sheer lack of realism and trying to put too much into it. The transforming car the whole "Kitt Cave" the silly "KR" logo everywhere. Make it simple and more realistic. The guy, the girl, the car and the dad. Pretty simple actually. No need to have all the useless people ( mostly for political correctness it's so obvious it hurts! ) the car being able to transform into a truck or a submarine ( useless and silly ). I've watched every episode so far and the best thing from the new Knight Rider was the 2 hour pilot. The car was very realistic and the only silly thing it did was change color. If they went back to that the series would have survived. I've said 1,000,000 times make the show more CSI meets the original Knight Rider and the show would take off. It only makes sense as the adudience they are trying to reach loves fast cars and CSI is the number one show in the country...... IS anyone listening or reading????

You know what worked with the original series was the simplicity. It was the basic car, the guy stopping crime in little towns, and just being fun. The new version (which is like the 4th incarnation i guess...remember KR 2000?) takes itself too seriously and isn't that great a show. Let's just get back to basics with a talking car that looks real, doesn't transform and doesn't survive napalm attacks but driving fast. Oh...and why not just cancel it for the season and start over again next year instead of a midseason switch that will confuse people.
Why NBC needs Knight Rider...
by Darth_Nader
Nov 10th, 2008
09:44:18 AM
It's all about synergy. NBC needs a show like Knight Rider because it can shoehorn in promotions for other items in the show. It's what they had in Las Vegas. If Universal's hottest artist was about to release their album, guess who would be the 'special guest star' that week? I am avoiding KR like the plague, but I can only assume it is a matter of time before we hear something like "KITT, we need to get into that Young Jezzy concert before the terrorists poison his extreme Mountain Dew Voltage. I know, let's pick up a limited time Pizza Hut Meat Lover's extreme with a sauce stuffed crust, and use it to sneak back stage! Quick, log on to ticketmaster and get me a ticket! Here, make sure you use my Pepsi discount code!" At least that is what I imaging most of these episodes are like.

Wow, that's just pathetic. I mean, really, really pathetic. Rebooting a horribly shitty, braindead show with low ratings so that... what? We can save our asses from dark 1980's karma?

The original show sucked. The new show sucked. The new, new show sucked. And the latest new, new, new show sucked harder than them all.

According to ratings, even the handful of steadfast braindead have given up on Knight Rider.

But nooooo! The studio, possibly the MOST braindead entity ever to exist, has decided to "reboot" the show in mid-fucking-season.

Wow. As opposed to letting the show die and trying something new for the braindead demographic, huh? For example:

*"People Play Video Games!" A rocking show where viewers watch drunken truckers get their 360 on. Death metal pulses through the entire show, along with hyperspeed editing to ensure ADD-complicity. It's like getting drunk and playing "Gears of War," except you're not. Tune on in, bro! (spoken with bumpkin-cool accent)

Or "Fartin' in Cars," a show where a team of wacky tattooed sixteen-year-old high school dropouts get drunk, break into BMWs, fart their brains out, and laugh oh-so-hard about it. Get high and get stinky, dood!

These shows would garner better ratings than a mid-season reboot (still can't fucking believe it) of "Knight Rider."

Wow. Pathetic.

The Captain Jack reference was the most entertaining part of the episode. Again, the actors are not the problem. They just need to cut out the stupid CGI, amp up the action, and get The Hoff to guest star. They get points for bringing back KARR but why did they have to ignore "his" origin from the original series to introduce him as some transforming moon rover looking evil robot? Gentlemen, I give you SUPERTRAIN! They 2 also got rid of half the cast, and had no clear direction...and it was on a train, so there was no need for where to go, you just follow the frickin' tracks!

Get rid of the entire Cast Get rid of Kitt. Hire Kevin Mckidd Change the story to revolve around a guy who goes back in time to fix problems in the past and deal the his family and reprecussions of his actions in the present, and rename the show Journeyman then I'll be haapy.
This gets full season and Journeyman gets cancelled after 13??

This is by far the worst show I have ever seen, period. It reminds me of a SCI-FI show of the week. Bad writing, bad acting, bad production, low budget and terrible. I saw nothing in this show leading me to believe it was a keeper..

Was Journeyman really that good of a show? I never watched it and you all seem to think it's a great show that got the axe. I was pissed when The Dead Zone got the boot but the last season of The Dead Zone was pure garbage. So I can see why it went bye bye.
Yes it was.

The 1st episode was boring till the last five minutes and the show never looked back quality wise from those last five minutes.

I was unlucky enough to watch and episode of this while i waited for "LIFE". It was so under written and badly acted. Justin Bruening comes off like a dopey-dumbass trying to be tough, without ever being tuff. It reminds me of the "Spy Script" That Carell's Character Michael Scott wrote on "The Office"...only this show isnt funny.
it'll be better - now it's the crime SOLVING car...

I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit - it's the only way to be sure
...and I'm still waiting for an Airwollf reboot??

maybe they could exist in the same universe - a kind of "Justice League" of crime SOLVING machinery? I would have said Blue Thunder but they decided not to go with terrorist-of-the-week any more...
it'd be like... be like .. the THUNDERBIRDS

if this is the first time you've seen this error, fire all your staff, hire new writers and reboot.

if you see this error again, follow these steps:

check to make sure there are no scenes involving flying motorcycles and a pool of sharks. if this is your first season, contact your new writers to see if there are any updates available

if problems continue, disable or remove pointless cgi or characters. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, try Cameos by Original Cast Members under Advanced Startup Options.

I loved that short-lived series. The Highwayman's boss was the hot lizard chick Diana from *V*. I just don't know who'd they cast in Jacko's role since we don't have any obnoxious stereotypical Aussie actors outside of Crowe and he would cost too much. Seriously NBC, read the critical posts and figure out how to improve *Knight Rider*. After all, you guys had much less reasons to cancel *Bionic Woman* last year.

Royston: "Night Boat"...

...has already been done. It was called "Thunder in Paradise" and starred Hulk Hogan.

It was utterly unwatchable despite the presence of Carol Alt as a supporting character.

(Which was quite a pity...)

Night Boat was also a show on the Simpsons

I hope it doesn't get away from the water. Oh wait, the bad guys are getting away near an obvious jump point for a boat.
