Prodigal Sons

I'm actually doing (or SHOULD be doing... very slack at the moment) a dissertion on trans-identity themed films, so I found this summary utterly fascinating. God knows how, when or if I'll ever see the film, but damn I want to. I particularly like the way it seems Kim was intending for her film to follow well-worn path 'A' but then it went off in a much more rewarding and unexpected direction. Thanks Moriarty for this.
Star Trek will be the best time travel story.

EVAR. It uses the stupidity of time travel stories to make it work! BRILLIANT!

I can't wait to check out Time Crimes, I've been hearing nothing but greatness about it. Prodigal Sons sounds pretty intense. Mori, this is a stupid question, but I've never been to one of these before. Do they play trailers before any of these? I'm curious as to what you would advertise in front of a festival screening, if anything.

OBAMA's speech last night was a historical watermark.

Anyway...

Time Crimes sounds interesting. Female nudity leading to time travel... happens to me all the time.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but I'd rather see a bio-doc about Marc than about the filmmaker herself. A transgendered filmmaker making a movie about herself, although well-intentioned, has a sheen of self-indulgence. Undoubtedly it is a more interesting movie in that it apparently went off in a direction different than what was expected, rather than a relatively straight-forward personal doc about the filmmaker's sexual identity, but... I'm more interested in Welles' grandson. Different strokes, I guess.

I still want an EATERS OF THE DEAD edition of the 13th Warrior!
Prodigal Sons...

If you wrote the story behind Prodigal Sons as a script people would think you were ridiculously "arch" and overambitious. Also, Michael Crichton is dead. Cue the unfunny "but we've got his dna!" jokes.

Let me just say that "TimeCrimes" is a must see. After reading a few reviews on this site earlier this year I had some pretty high expectations, and the movie still delivered.
Time Crimes - Not terribly impressive

I saw this movie at a film festival and while I had few expectations going into the movie, I was still fairly underwhelmed. A very basic plotline with very few surprises, it makes for a passable movie but there have been far more interesting time travel movies. Primer for example. One of the problems I had with it was that the decisions that the main character made were stupid to the point of being unbelievable.
