We can bitch about Campbell not doing from here to eternity but he isn't so if they've got a great script lets let em do it anyway. I can see how Perlman would do it and I think it works and its not like hes any slouch int he acting department. its also great to see Giamatti so excited, I love passion projects, they're always interesting whether they turn out well or not. I'm down for it.

you could do a great series of these Bubba films - each one with a different "larger-than-life" actor cast as Elvis. We've seen what Bruce did with the role, we cherish it, it'd be great to see him do it again but if not, there are other actors with Awesome!

What ever happened to the Phantasm Trilogy Remake

04:46:26 AM
Fucking liked that news, because Don was going to be directing them and it was going to have a bigger budget and Reggie and Bruce.. Well that was like the only remake news that actually made me excited. The news of Bruce leaving hurts me more than the Terrance Howard crap with Iron Man, but at least we have a reason given to us. I'd say Bruce walked because he doesn't want that to be the other thing people say when they see him. Ash is enough, maybe too much. I'm sure Bruce tires of hearing about the Evil Dead. I find it funny as hell too cause there was a period in time when you couldn't find that movie to rent or own. Then along comes anchor bay and they drop it on VHS and the rest is history. I saw Evil Dead 2 long beofgre I saw the original. I saw Amry of darkness before I had the chance to see the original. Thats how hard it was to get your hands on that movie. So of course people fucking ran out and bought the shit outta of it when it dropped, and now it must be the most dipped/redipped DVD on the planet. Fuck....

Sorry, I like Perlman and all, but as a replacement Elvis? No thanks. They should go after Kurt Russell instead, he doesn't seem to be too busy these days, and he's already got the Elvis thing down. Plus I'm sure money men would be more willing to put up cash for a Kurt Russell film than they would a Ron Perlman one.

Sounds like Bruce was given every opportunity to reprise the role, and simply didn't want to. While I first watched Ho-Tep for the simple fact that Bruce was in it, I fell in love with the quirky original story. As long as Don is still doing it, and Giamatti (who seems genuinely excited), I'll give Perlman a chance. See you in the theaters.

Perlman's a swell choice for the role of Elvis, but Bruce really made the role, and it just won't feel the same without him. I admire Bruce for turning it down if he really just didn't like the direction it went, and I also admire Don Coscarelli for sticking to a script he did like. Still, in a way I feel like the original was perfect, and I kinda think any prequel or sequel, no matter how great, kind of tarnishes the original. In that sense, I really like the idea of three actors playing Elvis. It allows them to be a little more independent from each other; more like James Bond in that (well, up till now, anyway) the films are only loosely related, and each film is kind of a self-contained world.

Anyway, any Coscarelli movie is a good one. With a great cast like the one he has here, this flick could be dynamite. Hopefully, with this, the possibility of one more BUBBA movie, and the (final?) Phantasm V, Coscarelli will get off the sequel train and start giving us some new material. Guess sequels are easier to fund but the guy's got such a unique mind I'd love to see the other places it can go.

Saw "My Name Is Bruce" Friday. Campbell intro-ed it/did Q&A afterwards. He was hysterical. The movie is hysterical. If they never do "Evil Dead 4" I am now okay with that now. This has given me enough classic one-liners to last another decade. As far as "Bubba Nosferatu," it was clear from the way he answered the question about why he's not invovled that it pained him. Clearly he and Coscarelli had a really big falling out over this (or something!) and he didn't want to see it forever damage their relationship, so he regretfully declined.
Perlman will ROCK this role.

Maybe this movie will explain how Elvis gets the growth on his pecker...

Perlman does not make me think of Elvis, and vice versa. Trying hard, but I just can't see it. And you can always get Kevin Costner if Kurt Russell aint around (kidding).

was born to play Tom Waits in a movie. Those guys must be cut from the same lumpy cloth. Non-sequitor aside, this sounds pretty bad ass.
