...it's great to see 30 Rock return! Let's hope the ratings are a little better this year. And that Donaghy does a few more multiple personality bits.

Took 'em long enough to bring this one back. Guess I should blame the stupid "Thursday Night Live" show. Anyway, it's funny how much I love Tina Fey here and how great the show is. When she was on Weekend Update and writing for SNL I thought she was awful. I guess sit-com is more her style. Oh, and Alec Baldwin is a comic genius.

I too had no use for Tina Fey on SNL. Now she's probably my favorite TV funny lady. Besides that she's smokin hot even though she really isn't traditionally hot. I wish this was on NBC tonight instead of TNL. Anybody know if this is a Halloween ep?

30 Rock is great with shit ratings. Why put the season premiere online a week early? Won't that hurt the ratings??

Seriously, I think Tina Fey is flat out hot. Maybe its an age thing. I admit I did boycott this show in its first season. I think it was because I was so poisoned by disappointing NBC comedies over the years I didn't give it a chance. Randomly this year I checked it out on hulu or some site like that and I loved it. Every single show is entertaining and almost every show has one killer laugh out loud moment on it. Prior to 30 rock this year, I haven't laughed at a comedy show since Arrested Development. ( which may mean I'm just a hard ass, I guess )

You write what you know. If I knew a girl who weighed less than 200 pounds who wrote the scene where Jack summoned her to a meeting and someone referred to her as Captain Needa, I'd probably be in love.

As for her writing gig on SNL, there has to be a story there. Lorne Michaels must have cock blocked her on the shit she wrote because there's no way someone can be that smart and funny and turn out the shit SNL turns out without studio interference. The only funny recurring sketch on SNL is the A-Holes. And of course the Palin shit that writes itself.

tina just couldnt write sketch comedey or something

thats the best i can guess. Mean Girls was pretty damn funny (yeah i said it so what) and 30 rock has been great, especially her episodes.("Cooter") But when she was running SNL it was just poor.

Thanks for pointing Smallville out! It made me check it out. I can't believe they got their shit together. Chloe's great, Doomsday and Martian Manhunter works, and there are reports of the mysterious savior, just like in the Bryne comics. Fucking A. Who would've guessed it will improve after four years of suck.

is just what this series deserves, it's fueled on artifical intelligence. Quite auteur--hiring "stars", past their glory, to boost the non-existent ratings (noted by Lorne Michaels in last week's SNL; pretty lousy show, Lorne). This sort of thing was practiced by THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JIM and other shows saddled with 'in the cellar' ratings. Obie Winfrey?? The USS Pride has sailed without this turkey. Alec Baldwin looks like he ate his kids. Tina Fey looks like my cousin, Earl. Outta here.
I do not like 30 Rock...
by DanielKurland
Oct 25th, 2008
05:52:18 AM
And here's why. I'm sure many of you fans are a fan of the scene where Alec Baldwin imitates all the members of Tracy's family. That's funny, but then it's followed by Tracy embracing Baldwin and saying something like "Mommy! Is that really you!" No one is so stupid that they'd actually believe their boss was their parent. This show often has good jokes, but then just goes too far afterwards and becomes too silly. I know thing is nitpicking, and there's probably another reason I don't like this show, but I love Tina Fey, and tons of the people they've had on in guest roles, but this show just doesn't work for me.

The thing is: Tracy is insane. And not just suddenly. His insanity is a plot point. So that scene did kinda make sense. Although I admit, he's annoying.

And that is not a dig. It is the only sitcom I still watch.

It does depend upon the "Family Guy" "Hey remember when" quick cut to something absurd that happened before gag.

Sadly if they added a laugh track the ratings would probably double.

"No one is so stupid that they'd actually believe their boss was their parent." This coming from the guy who's into Pokemon, The Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars. Google's a bitch, huh? I mean capturing monsters in a red plastic ball and pitting them against one another is totally believable, right? 30Rock. Best comedy on TV. Period.
