PLANT! But, hopefully it'll be a good movie. Good cast. The magic sounds a little far fetched (that's right, I said it)

inkheart's story is just stolen, especially from Ende's great Neverending Story (the book, not the awful motion picture).
Inkheart is a fine story, Roderich

It's as derivative of many stories that came before it. The Neverending Story builds on other references as well. This should be a dark film. If it isn't, then it will be forgettable pulp like most of what we've seen in recent years.

If the movie is so good, why did New Line change the release date from March 2008 to Jan 2009?

Not a single frame from that trailer is derived from anything written in the book. Not one single image looked familiar, and I just read Inkheart about 3 months ago. Meggie is supposed to be 10 or so, but she looks like she's 15. She doesn't even know she has the ability until almost the end. She calls out Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, not Toto from Wizards of Oz. Dustfinger doesn't conjuer fire, he doesn't even magically manipulate it, he's just a pyro court jester. There's no tornado storm, no flying monkeys, nothing like that. In other words, the credits should read 'INSPIRED BY -, or LOOSELY BASED ON -, or even BLATENTLY RIPPING OFF AND COMPLETELY REWRITING -' Inkheart. And I didn't even enjoy the book that much, and have no desire to read Inkspell.

I have seen Inkheart at a preview screening close to a year ago. It is a entertaining movie and it kept me interested, but I wonder what changes they made to it to make it better because there were some plot holes in the movie and some confusing elements that showed up it in the end of the film that negated part of the story line that were not explained in the movie. A big example is that whatever they read "or write" comes to life. I am guessing after a year of reworking it, it must be a lot better now, hopefully.

Well, the review may have that new plant smell, but the trailer there looks pretty entertaining. I've never read the book and don't know a thing about it, so couldn't comment on the complaints about changes.

Brendan Frazier's...or Adam Sandler's?

If you follow that link over to the Apple movie trailer page...you'll see the trailer for "Inkheart"...(which I watched yesterday...and some of the visuals are pretty damn cool)...But a few trailers down and to the right...is another trailer for Disney's "Bedtime Stories"...starring Adam Sandler.

The trailer for that? Ok...take one part "Inkheart"...one part "Big Daddy"...and one part "Click" and you get the jist.

Sandler plays "Skeeter"...that right...."Skeeter"...a handyman who suddenly has to take care of his niece and nephew...(Big Daddy)...Who finds whenever he tells the kids a made up 'bedtime story'...the story comes to life the next day...(Inkheart)...so...he starts using the gimmick to his advantage...but learns something and grows up a bit from the lessons he learns...(Click).

So...who will win the battle of the "Storybook comes to life" movie war at the box office?

Never bet against the Zohan!

BTW...This trailer 'review' was paid in full by Happy Madison Productions. My name is Planty McPlant.

loves these books, but I wondered as well whether or not they could be translated properly. I hope for her sake that they do a decent job of making a movie out of this. After "Series of Unfortunate Events" and " Eragon" she is pretty well convinced that Hollywood adaptations of her childhood book favorites suck turds. Bright girl.
As for changing Tinkerbelle to Toto...

I know nothing of either book or movie, but I'm guessing that legal issues would force the studio to make some changes when it came to using well known characters. With copyright laws being what they are, I have no idea what's in the public domain, and what each studio has a right to use. It may be that the studio could more easily broker a deal with the family estate in control of "The Wizard of Oz" (if there is one) than they could with "Peter Pan" (likewise).

...that it is far better to tear lettuce than to cut it if you do not plan on using the entire head? Cutting lettuce destroys the cell walls and causes the lettuce to atrophy quicker whereas tearing the lettuce always rips across the cell walls and allows the lettuce to stay fresh longer.
