i just started watching it, and its actually pretty fucking good. it really treats the terminator universe with respect. WAY better than terminator 3, and they actually come up with a clever way to keep sarah connor alive (which also gives them new story lines.) i know i sound like a plant or a commercial, but if you're vaguely interested in what the show is all about, id say do yourself a favor and watch it. in fact, im so into the show i would say that the movie should use the actors from the show more than the previous movies. its better for current continuity anyway.

Digital face replacement has been around for a while. It was uses quite often in LOTR particularly noticeable after Gandalf's "death" whe nBoromir picks up Frodo -who was actually a midget - then they just CG'd Elijah Wood's face on screaming/crying and I think they did a bloody good job of the Digital Doubles in that film as well. The tech is there they just need the right team of creative people to do it and a pedantic director to oversee it

I almost wonder about if this is a good idea or not. When it was reported that they might just use a new face I was enthusiastic, because by tieing the face of the T-800 to Arnold you can ONLY draw comparisons to the original two movies. Its the same reason I think that the Sarah Connor Chronicals works aswell as it does- it provides its own twist on the concept. Essentially it comes down to the basic idea that if The Terminator always looks the same, then why don't the other characters tie to eachother in looks? Christian Bale is not Nick Stahl, and Nick Stahl is not Edward Furlong...

That Jet Li movie, The One, used this technique as well, since the there were two of him from alternate futures or something. I remember seeing a "making of" featurette which showcased one of the stunt martial arts coordinators or something wearing a green-screen mask type fixture.
