A lethal, yet surprisingly family friendly combination.

I guess the real question is how long will it be before someone gets the idea to do a cgi muppets movie...mark my words, it will happen.

I can't wait to see...

..what Jason Segal does with the muppets. If it's as good as the bit in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, then color me excited...or blackface.
It sounds fucking cute! ^__^

Even if it wasn't, it's damn hard to be cynical in regards to the Muppets.
So they are there to off John Denver?

The Muppets were so great and innovative when Henson and Oz were calling the shots... Since then the magic is just not the same... "It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" from a few years back was a real stinker. It makes me sad to be a Muppet hater.
this is "The Next Muppet Movie"? An Xmas flik?

Bit of a cop-out if you ask me. The original Muppet Movie was charming, innovative and surreal. This just sounds like another "lets teach kids the true meaning of giftmas" schtick that Hollywood seems to think itself the authority on. I'd prefer that Dark Crystal sequel.

Well, at least they got Paul Williams doing the music.

... no, AmyChasing. This is not the next Muppet movie that Jason Segal is working on. That's why the article describes it as an NBC television special.

Have picked up the rights to Wurzel Gummage and Rentaghost. Yes Wurzel gummage and rentghost are coming back for the 21st century. With the exception of the Sue Nicholls from Corrie. The rest of the cast are dead.

See not all of us live in the States, so I wouldn't have a clue what's on NBC. What I have seen is It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, which I didn't think much of. Which was classed as a movie or a special? I don't know. But thanks for all your help I'm sure you were implying.

His children sold them. After the tragic death of thier father and no other entertainment figures death devastated more me then hensons death as a teenager, they wanted to make more serious fare. Selling the muppets was a huge mistake. but they possibly wanted distance. or something. for the future.

It was a rumor that turned out to be a fact. It's about time somebody breathed life back into the Muppets. I've never met ANYONE in my lifetime that hated the Muppets. It's the one thing that America has that I'm not ashamed of...besides FREEDOM!!!

Very weird.
I think Disney not doing a crossover with Muppets & Mickey is a missed opportunity.
