The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, Slither (good fun), Wolf Creek..just a few suggestions. The Evil Dead Trilogy is always a fun night in. Plus, if you don't dig on the Original Dawn Of the Dead, the remake isn't a bad flick either. Decent horror/zombie/actionfest.

But I'm all for Paul Rudd and Jay Baruchel (based on his performance in Tropic Thunder). The key things to remember are that the comedy in Ghostbusters is all fairly low-key and casual, but to the point and not rambling the way Rogen's comedy usually is, and MOST IMPORTANTLY the cast of the original Ghostbusters may be comedy legends now, but in 1984, it was one comedy superstar (Murray), strong supporting (Aykroyd) a writer (Ramis) and an everyman (Hudson). Not everyone in the group is a comedy lead.

There are enough annyoing assholes in the real worl without me have to pay money to watch them on screen. If its not broke ,dont fix it. Ghostbuster 3 can work just fine with the old crew without any new actors coming in. If the blunder fist that is Lucas can still coax Speilberg and Ford to do a semi decent Indy movie then Reitman can do an awesome script and direction for Ghostbuster 3. Keep the humour and character development but go for a 15 rating and have some freaky stuff in it (a'la Supernatural on WB)

That was the most politically correct piece of crap. Honestly - a goth, a handicapped, and token black and hispanic characters? This wouldn't bother me, but I wouldn't put it past these creators to be PC just to please the whiners and activists out there. What made the original (and even the sequel) so great was that it seemed like everyone in the movie worked well together, and they all were enjoying every minute of it. PC had nothing to do with it. As long as they continue that formula, this sequel could not be any worse than GB2 (which in my opinion is still better than most of the movies that have come out in the past two decades).

I mean it's hard to custom a list without knowing what a guy already loves, since horror really does run the gambit. But I'm getting a kinda splatter vibe from you, so if you're looking for some 70s/80s brand old delights... RE-ANIMATOR, Phantasm 1&2 (2 is all but impossible to find, but completely worth it, just... amazing), The Gate, The Deadly Spawn, Shivers (Slither? "Fuck that shit! Pabst! Blue Ribbon!"... I mean seriously, Shivers and Deadly Spawn... kick it old school with your killer slug love) TCM2, Evil Dead 2, Re-Animator 2 actually and... well that's a good start. Let me know if you want OLD horror or horror that might actually scare you (assuming you are not easily scared). As I sit here cheerfully typing away I feel the presence of a nasty cold emerging I think I should go deal with it promptly. Oh yeah, and like the guy above said, Nail Marshals first two films make for a fantastic night. Cheers!

"Ravenous" (1999). Very overlooked and very well-done dark comedy about cannibalism in the 19th century. All-star cast with Guy Pearce, a bat-shit Robert Carlyle, and possibly one of the best performances I'VE seen from Jeffrey Jones. The music is off-canter and creepy, and the director does a pretty good job of building tension.

Also, I think Dr. Venkman would mentor so long as his student is a half his age blond girl, like the "psychic" he was testing in the beginning of the first movie. I'm going to second Ravenous. A truly underrated horror/comedy. It's such a unique film that I'm shocked it was actually made. Sometimes the studios screw up and accidentally do something right.

you obviously forgot the part where Ray gets a blowjob from a ghost. It's a very strange moment in the first film. Granted, the movie was a family film, but family films in the eighties usually pushed the envelop somewhat. Compare E.T. and Goonies to the bland live action Disney films of today. Although, I do agree they should keep it mostly family friendly. If you're talented enough then you can make both R rated and PG rated comedies.

union jackass, thank you. Thanks for reminding me about The Mist. Which is one of my favorite films now. I didn't care for Descent or Dog Soldiers. Especially Descent, I really hated that one. That was just a horror film/lifetime channel movie. All the scares were timed horribly, as well. I liked Hatchet, Ruins, and the orphanage but not enough to put them on my list. Maybe the Orphanage but I don't know. These are movies that I will definitely be watching: Scream, Halloween (personal fav), Candyman, Jaws, Alien, The Thing, Wolf Creek, The Shining, TCM, Shaun of the Dead, The Devil's Backbone, Jeepers Creepers (sorry but I fucking love this film), Audition, Signs, In the Mouth of Madness, an the Others. I have plenty more that I'm considering but haven't put them on my list yet. I have a shitload of spots open though. Most of the movies on my list are films I love and watch every Halloween. I'll also look into Ravenous, donny, I love me some Guy Pearce. First Snow, Memento and The Proposition, all great films with Pearce. So, thanks guys and please keep giving me recommendations.

Let me suggest a few beautiful horror films: "Eyes Without a Face (Les yeux sans visage)," directed by Georges Franju (1960); "Don't Look Now", directed by Nicholas Roeg (1973); and "Suspiria", directed by Dario Argento (1977). These are truly great films, as I am sure my fellow horror afficionados here can attest. And now let me also recommend a few other (slightly less well-known) films--two thoughtful masterpieces by Pupi Avati: "Zeder" (1983) and "The House with the Laughing Windows (La case dalle finestre che ridono)" from 1976; "The Last Wave," directed by Nicholas Roeg (1977), a film that comes as close as any to capturing the feel of real Lovecraftian horror; the three episodes in the anthology "Spirits of the Dead (Histoires extraordinaires)" from 1968, directed by Federico Fellini, Roger Vadim, and Louis Malle--my favorite is Fellini's segment "Tony Dammit", but the other two are gorgeous; "Picnic at Hanging Rock", directed by Peter Weir (1975) and George Sluizer's "The Vanishing (Spoorloos)" from 1988, etc... One could go on and on. This was just a random handful of films. But I hope my little list helps--I have tried to present more atmospheric, intelligent, and stylish films here as a counter-point to the gorier and more frenetic stuff that is common. It really would fit well with irreverant nature of the first two, and kinda make sense. Great way to explain away Rick's absense. The originals are getting near retirement, Venkman want to start franchising to cash in to have a sweet retirement and they proceed through a dozen or so tagalong wanna-bes names like Rogen & Rudd who are almost imediately killed in Red Shirt / "Oh my god, they killed Kenny, you bastards!" fashion. In the end, they say screw retirement, we're doing this until we die.

The new Ghostbusters are in competition with the old ones and everyone writes off the old ones cause they think they're too old and slow and the young guys can do a better job. But the young guys are so green and inexperienced that they can never finish the job and the old ones have to do all the heavy lifting. Murray dies in the first three mins and becomes the new buddy ghost/slimer role. Terry Crews as Zeddmore's nephew is genius, also would be interested in Paul Rudd and Jay Baruchel. And Danny McBride would be funny in the movie but not as a Ghostbuster, preferably as a fringe character. I don't think they should put Seth Rogen or Will Ferrell because that would disconnect too many people from the whole experience. That isn't to say they wouldn't do a good job, it's just that they continue to be in so much other shit that if they do this it becomes a continuation of all the rest of it. Then Land Of The Lost, Green Hornet and Ghostbusters are all of a sudden linked. Fuck that. I think Rudd and Baruchel for two of them, plus Terry Crews and some new unknown guy if you want to go with four new guys. Rogen and Ferrell could cameo in it as a couple of guys trying to audition for the team but they get turned down flat. That would rock.

Not CGI. Their "glow" can be CGI, but not the actual ghosts. I really don't know what to think about a 3rd Ghostbusters movie. GB II was a lot of a letdown even back when I was only 7 years-old. The original actors are kind of old, and you just know Hollywood needs the current crop of comedians in the movie to attract the younger audience. I hope they don't try to make it an action/comedy SFX extravaganza movie, because Ghostbusters is comedy and chemistry first, with little action and restrained SFX. Again, Ghostbusters II couldn't hold a candle to Ghostbusters. Neither could the two Men in Black movies. Much less Evolution. Ghostbusters III might not be a good idea.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I will proclaim this simple movie truth until my dying day: "Ghosts" are funny (Ghostbusters, Nightmare Before Christman, Mike Keaton in Beetlejuice). Dead people AREN'T funny. (That awful Casper movie, Geena Davis and Alex Baldwin in Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride.) The SECOND you let the audience identify the "ghost" as a dead person rather than just a "ghost", they are subconsciously reminded of little things like tragedy, sadness, loss, not to mention their own mortality. ...because I have a hard time believing it's Apatow and crew. I've found a lot of their stuff to be funny, but I'm getting tired of the same old formula and am kind of getting depressed that nobody seems to be able to pull off a good laugh without resorting to dick/fart/weed jokes. Comedy is an odd duck these days and watching a lot of these guys do their schtick really hits home how lucky we were back when we were watching SCTV, early SNL and sketch troupes like the Kids in the Hall do their thing. It was genuinely funny, the characters were likable, and the restraints they had on how far they could push the envelope meant they had to really work hard at making people laugh without falling back on the "extreme" crutch. I think a lot of that heart is missing nowadays and it's why I have no friggin' clue as to who I would want on board to help the original 'busters without taking us out of the world they created. Too bad Tim and Eric are so weird, 'cause as much as I love their show, the only way they'd fit in is if they tamed their strangeness and honed their acting. Who else is there? I'd believe Rainn Wilson as a GB, Russell Peters could do it (haven't seen him act, but the dude's timing is killer), but Christ, who else? What's the best comedy troupe today? It's a toughie - which is why I worry about what's to come. The GB's are my Star Wars, and I've waited 20 years for a sequel. If they're going to do it now, they'd better do it right... or don't bother. Oh yeah, and limit the goddamn cg too please. Puppet ghosts will do the trick. Agree with Mel's Rockpile that art, comedy, and music all flourish under boundaries of some sort. The quality of music lyrics dropped; instead of poetic lyrics about "making love", we get crap like "I want to fuck you like an animal". And then it just degenerates from there when other "artists" try to aim lower. Similarly, taste in comedy has dropped. Hack like Seth MacFarlane are making $100,000,000 with dumb-as-dirt, lowest-common denominator "comedy" shows. Shows like the Simpsons that were once smart have started to stoop to the same flatulent humor just to compete. When I think about what a Ghostbusters film in today's market might be like, I'm picturing Slimer farting in peoples' faces (like that beast in The Phantom Menace) and jive-talkin' Ecto-1.

...let's NOT cast the "usual suspects." Rogen, Carell and Rudd are obvious choices, but only because of the connection to "The Office" and/or Apatow. Let's see something somewhat unexpected (especially since Carell and Rogen are in danger of being overexposed). Let's see a new team -- NOT a replacement team, NOT "junior" 'Busters, but just a new team among many in a worldwide GB organization -- that has to work with the founders to combat some supernatural menace. And let's cast Rudd with Nathan Fillion, Dule Hill, and Zooey Deschanel (as mentioned earlier) -- actors who all have great comic timing, who aren't necessarily overexposed, who would work well with that kind of material, who wouldn't overshadow the original team but who could be used again if the franchise is re-ignited. If they want to bring Ghostbusters back as a truly viable franchise, then Sony, Ramis and Apatow will need to step outside their boxes a bit and not cast the same players again.

Oh dear, I'm not loving this to be honest and I think Ghostbusters is one of the best and most quotable films ever...Ghostbusters 2 is also great...BUT Ramis did not explain why they are not using the script produced years ago by him and Ackroyd (Ghostbusters in Hell?) and the statements highlights that him and Ackyord would be "consulted" and the original crew will be present in a "mentor capacity" means that R&A will get a co producer credit and Murray et als presence in the movie will be reduced to five minutes cameos. I don't have anything against Aptow, but if we are to have a third film I would prefer it to written, produced, focus on and starring the original crew and directed by Reitman. Otherwise, shudder...

After watching Knocked up and then saw Superbad. Jonah hill was the reason I stopped watching. And I thought to myself more then once they are ripping off American Pie. With the exception of the opening of the third movie, the rest of which I hated, I thought the scene with michelle, jim and jims dad was hysterical as they were through the series. Superbad was American pie one and two with crude language instead of jokes. I sat through Ace ventura, but jim Carrey was at his hillarious best back then. Not everyone finds him a riot. Modern teens are being cheated when it comes to comedy. Judd and his gang are the future. I did find American pie two a little bit laboured in places. It was really funny. over all. AMP one and two heart and third one despite the restaurant scene didnt. US comedy is going down the toilet. Hype is killing comdey i believe. KNocked up and superbad were not the claaics they were painted as.

Imagine a new "field team" consisting of Steve Carrel, Tina Fey, Neil Patrick Harris, and maybe "trainee" Michael Cera. Dork them up a little, and they're good to go. I WOULD TOTALLY PAY MONEY TO SEE GHOSTBUSTERS III. Fuck Yeah. The Ghostbusters franchise is one of my favorites of all times. I NEVER get tired of the first movie, and even the second movie wasn't that bad. And the first couple of seasons of The Real Ghostbusters saturday morning cartoon were FANTASTIC. Bring it on. And I can see Apatow and his crew bringing the right kind of humor to the movie. MAKE THIS HAPPEN or there will be CATS AND DOGS LIVING TOGETHER, MASS HYSTERIA!

that should be I dont what the prevailing view of Apatow and company is. But obviously they keep getting work. Someone likes them enough to give them work. There was a sweetness in the Weitz brothers ameican pie. yes gross was there, but it never overwhelmed the first two movies. Third one was disgusting. I loved the whole comedy of embarrasment with jim and jims dad. Apatow seems to be about comedygrossnogrpahy. ie pushing the limits of gross out humour. Ron Burgandy had its moments. bit hit and miss. I will be seeing step bros. Will ferrell can be very funny. but he can be annoying. But reigned in he is very good in serious work.

I find the Apatow crew funny as hell, guess im weird. Anyway i'm interested to see their take on GB, i'm sure they'd respect the source material (Parts 1&2) to the fullest. Only worry I have is them placing a female GB on the team. Another Dana Berret type character would be fine, just no Girl ghost buster, please. That wouldnt be respecting the first two movies at all.

ive been waiting for this movie for a long time. but now that its a possibility i dont care anymore. its been almost 20 years. let it go. im fine with the game idea b/c at least it features the original actors and takes place in 1991. i dont need a 2010 ghostbusters. if it does get made for some damn reason then i hope they dont cast annoying actors in the roles. i cant stand will ferrell and the thought of the apatow crew filling in makes me sick. im one of the biggest ghostbusters fans and i just dont see how this will work. i did like one guys idea on here though about the new crew actually being rivals. so maybe if the original ghostbusters are retired and out of shape and these "new" ghostbusters are taking over the town and trying to steal their business and they have to join forces at the end to fight the villian then i might see it having some value. i dont want ghostbusters as mentors telling seth rogen how to use a trap or will ferrell crossing the streams and egon yelling at him for it. thats stupid

I didn't expect the original cast to be the only actors in the film, but I was really hoping they were veering away from the 'frat pack' casting. Granted, that's basically what they did back in the 80s, but still. Rogen, Rudd, etc are all hilarious. I just hope this isn't treated as another 'let's just see how many jokes you can make out of this single unfunny line.' I'm confident it'll work. I was just hoping they were going with a different type of cast instead of playing into those old rumors. fuck.

Including Ivan Reitman, are involved, I could see this as having good potential. But it's always risky to revive a franchise after such a long amount of time between movies. This should get a green light, only if everyone is in agreement for the direction of the movie, and a superior script, otherwise it will taint the other two movies if it winds up to be just a cashi in on the name.
