An obit from a silent film actor is a rare thing indeed. Even rarer now.

A rare and beautiful talent. May she rest in peace and may everyone look back amongst all the Crazy Hollywood rubbish now and realize those simple and wonderful talents that we don't have now. SHe was an artist. Everyone now is a commodity. Art is lost in this era... and this sad obituary makes it clear.

She was still answering fan letters well into her nineties - I know, because I wrote to her and she wrote back! It was quite surreal to receive a signed photo from a co-star of Buster Keaton. Her passing marks quite an epoch, as she really was the last surviving big star of the golden era of silent film.
I was lucky enough to have met her

Her daughter Sandra (now deceased)worked as an artist for Hanna Barbera and Disney Studios. Sandra was also was one of the leading artists on "The Chipmunk Adventure" for Ross Bagdasarian Jr. They were a very talented family. TMC occationally runs some of Anita's films -- I think "Night Court" is one of her best. She said she was friends with Buster Keaton, but her film "Free and Easy" (also on TMC)is one of the lousy films he made with MGM.(she plays the pretty girlfriend with the annoying mother)Her other daughter Linda is still alive and my prayers go out to her. I'd also like to thank Actor Randal Mallone for looking after Anita until the end.
