No, and thank god for that. There is however Prince of Persia 4 coming out and from what I've read it's meant to launch a new trilogy of games. Just as a side note: For anyone who hasn't played the games and suddenly does...you'll quickly realize where God Of War stole all it's mechanics and some of it's concept.

If you took the time to read the Koran,you would see that Islam is a very tolerant religion. In certain parts of the world this message has been twisted for ulterior means. Muslims in general do not want to "destroy the World". Also during their peak they were indeed a civilization that rivaled any in the Western world in terms of art, culture and science. Any war being waged is within the Muslim community, not between the East and West. Many Muslims are trying to find their way in a world that is rapidly changing, and trying to do so in a way that is consistent with their religion. Not all agree with how it should be done, the extremists have one view point, others have a more peaceful viewpoint. It is Western involvement and interference (like in Pakistan) that is exacerbating and polarizing this struggle. And thanks to Prof Ender for the good point about the films time period, hopefully this will make up for their poor portrayal in 300. (BTW, I m not Muslim, but a Religion major who specializes in the Muslim faith).

But not word for word, the writer of the game has taken elements of that story to use here. Also the new Prince of Persia game is not a sequel to the Sands trilogy but a new game with a new Prince, a new art style, and it uses the Assassin's Creed engine.

The games take place prior to the fall of Babylon, and note also that Persians are not ethnically Arabic, so the stereotypes about Islam really don't apply in any way shape or form anyway. Ethnically Persians were fairer skinned than their Arab neighbours in those days, but in any society that is situated on major trade routes genetic blending is inevitable. Conquest and migration are factors as well, but ancient Persians do not necessarily resemble the majority of people who reside in that region today. Gylenhaal actually looks a lot like the Prince as he appeared in "Warrior Within" and "The Two Thrones". Take an anthropology or history course or something. Those of you making racist or historically inaccurate statements would benefit from a little education.

...the movie is intended to take place. ancient Persia, i.e. the Archeamenid Dynasty, the Parthians, the Sassanid Dynasty were all pre-Islam... the Arab invasion and its resulting conversion of most Persians to Islam took place in the 7th century. Before that, most Persians were Zoroastrian, which was the first monotheistic religion in history. Also, the architecture depicted looks more Moroccan than Persian... but that's Hollywood.

first of all ColWTH Persia was never Muslim, when the Muslims overthrew Persia it basically became Iran, they were forciably converted to Islam that brings up my 2nd point, Islam as Mohammad practed was a violent, take over the world kinda of religon, but one that respected Christians and Jews, they still wanted to take over the world and force things into their mold (see their treatment of Cappodica in Turkey), but again they generally respected Christians and Jews finally Kid Z, I could be wrong, but I thought monothestic society started loosely with the Isrealities and Judiasm? However, it didn't take and after Aknaten died, his religion died out with him. The ancient Hebrews at the time were still worshipping various gods and goddesses, with YHWH or "Yahweh" being sort of the chief god. Zoroastrianism was the first established, monotheistic religion, but I suppose this could probably be disputed. The ancient views of religion were considerably different than those of modern times.

...on a few points, of course. Islam is indeed an Ideology of conquering the world and it is indeed at culture war with the West and the west is kinda losing it. The only respect they have for christians and jews is the respect a master have for his slaves. That said, I don't think this movie about Prince of Persia is much of an apology of islam since at least the first game has not much of religion in it and just some visual reference to Arabia. As Kid Z said, it depends on when in Persian history the film takes place. Maybe it will be the pre-muslim zoroastrian Sassanid Persia or after the conquest by Islam. Since it's Hollywood, we can expect anything. Especially anachronistic references.
