Although Spaced is a very good show, it does not come remotely close to PeepShow the absolute funniest thing to ever come out of the UK. Not sure why that show is never mentioned here...

Is a wildly talented actress who can play funny or serious roles. I wonder why it is she is not getting more love from the Hollywood movie people like Pegg has. I can only assume it's because she's not interested in them, because she is a better comedic actress than any of her American counterparts working today.

Spaced is great too. Spaced certainly gets more love from the movie going crowd because it is so inherently cinematic. But Peep Show is brilliant. I have all 5 series on DVD for my region-free DVD player and can't get enough of it. Let's hope they never do an American version because without Mitchell and Webb it would not work.

These guys HAVE to make a 3rd series - but I'd settle for a movie. Spaced just isn't like The Office, its another 'Holy Trilogy', but with one chapter missing! The passage of time doesn't have to matter, those characters were so well constructed and full of wonderful possibilities. I'm tired of speculating about where they'd all be 10 years later - I WANT THE OFFICIAL TAKE ON IT!!!!!! It couldn't be another Phantom Menace if they tried. I want this so much I'm getting an ulcer waiting!!!!! Put us out of our misery!!!

Yeah, Kevin Smith was on the Kevin & Bean morning radio show on KROQ in LA this morning. He said he saw a movie early that he cannot talk about. When the hosts asked him if the stars of the movie happen to trek about, he mentioned that they in fact do trek about in the movie. The movie that he could not talk about where the stars trek was apparently spectacular, and the main star (read: Kirk) is going to be huge accoding to Smith.

All I got to say is boo-fuckin-yaaaa!!!! That's what I'm talkin about.

Kevin Smith has seen Watchmen as well. . .

Spot on mate - very wise man, clearly - no reason why we can't come back to Tim and Daisy 10 years on. Sure, they've changed, who hasn't, but I'm more of a geek at 37 than I ever was at 27, and I'm married now and pushing 40! And who wouldn't want to know what happend to Brian (investment bankers my guess) and Twist(still in the launderette). Obviously Mike is running the UN by now and Tim is drawing for Marvel (but still having the odd crafty shandy about Gillian Anderson), Marsha is a property magnet after selling 23 Meteor Street, Daisy is editing Cosmo and Colin is banging some hot bitch. Duane Benzie is in rehab, not for any real reason other than being a total prick and Bilbo is still running Fantasy Bazaar. Are you listening guys - do what Peter Kay should ahve done years ago and make a third series and shut us all up because we all know 'this is the good shit.'

I figure most of the characters would loose something if everything had worked out exactly as they hoped. If they picked the story up they'd still have to be 'on their journey' for most viewers to continue to connect with them. I think Tim would've have gotten sick of Dark Star Comics, they'd probably have stuck him on some kiddie title he didn't want to work on like 'Care-Bear weekly'. He'd have gotten fired after losing it at a comic convention - when some kid asked him to draw Jarjar. He'd end up owning Fantasy Bazaar, after Bilbo buggered off to India to find himself. Daisy I picture selling second hand books from a market stall on the South Bank, still sadly struggling to make it as a writer and missing Tim. Brian would become so bitter with all the two faced egotists in the art world that he'd become an angry art critic. Painting ever more ugly portraits of his lost muse 'Twist'. Mike - he'd be teaching army cadets, (his own personal army) bulshiting them about his time in the Gulf. Plenty of opportunities for invisible gun-battles there eh? Marsha, she'd have hooked up with some old guitarist from the 70's when Amber hit paydirt after winning 'Big Brother'. Duane would have lost his hair, gotten fat and be working as a shelf stacker at Sommerfield. Somehow it was Tim's fault. How about that for starters? These characters should live on.

It could still be done. Daisy is holidaying around America after her recent divorce and bumps into Tim Bisley who is now working for Universal Studio's. Tim designs rides and has designed one of the events at Universal's Halloween Horror nights. Mike is there too, working as a security guard (not very showbizz but he's happy 'cos he gets to carry around a gun all day!). Any way, it's opening night and somehow the gang get trapped in Tim Bisley's exhibit - which is a bit Westworld in that a lot of the props are real - chainsaws and the like! Hilarity and mayhem ensure, with a few scares for good measure, but it all ends happily with them drinking hot cups of tea and eating biscuits while laughing about old times. Oh, and Mike blows the head off that that creepy fucking clown that goes around freaking everyone out. Sweet!

Way back in '99, because I was one of the few people to rave about Spaced on a newsgroup, I think. Strange to see him go from strength to strength since then. Very well deserved. If I remember correctly, he mentioned about wanting to do a Hallowen special during the correspondence, too. Shame they didn't get round to it. Oh, and yes, "PEEP SHOW" is the best UK comedy since The Office. Maybe AICN will be going Peep Show DVD crazy in... oooh, 10 years from now? Come on, American comedy lovers -- get with it! :)

I predict either an embarassing disaster or something downright miraculous. I just watched the show for the first time and the appeal is all in the execution and not the concept. The concept is pretty generic but the collaborative spirit of the show is something I don't see being duplicated. I basically foresee a mutant version of Scrubs saturated with pop culture references and nothing else. I also don't see a point in continuing the original Spaced. It ended on a pretty good note and it might be kind of depressing to see these characters living in the same apartment after all these years.

Spaced is/was ace Peepshow pips it for me because that show could/should go on forever as the characters aren't stuck because of their age and it actually gets better the older and nerdier and tradgically out of touch they get.
Why does Smith get to see Trek and I don't?

No fucking fair!! I like how Simon Pegg talks about his approach to playing Scotty. It would have SUCKED BIG TIME if the actors went in and said 'OK, I'm just gonna copy the old actor' it would have been a fucking disaster, a parody beyond belief. The only actor that needs to really tap into the classic series actor's performance is Quinto as Spock, and that's because Nimoy is in this movie so they need to be believable as the same guy. Everyone else should just be doing their own thing, performance-wise.

I hate Spaced for the episode where all the writers end up working in McDonalds. As soon as I saw that one I took the DVD out of the player, took it upstairs and sold it on Amazon. Still haven't forgiven them for that. Father Ted is the best UK/Irish comedy ever.

"The episode where all the writers end up working in McDonalds"? What the fuck are you talking about? Are you sure it was Spaced that you were watching? And even if that *did* happen in an episode, why would that make you dislike a show so much as to actually hate it?

I blotted out most of the horror but it was Daisy working in a fast food franchise and everyone else there wanted to be a writer but they were stuck in their dead end jobs - it was their One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest skit. I hated it cos I had a shit job for a living but I was writing and dreaming of making it a living - and that episode just killed me. I had the whole boxset but I sold it immediately after that. I know its only a comedy but that sketch had a lot of bitter truth in it and it really haunted my dreams after that - did my fucking head in. I still write but let's be honest how many people make it? I should thank them for the wake up call but I won't. Arseholes.

Ahhhh, you mean when Daisy was having to do all those dishes?! Yes, that was a classic episode and was indeed a parody of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. By the way, that's an excellent attitude you have. If J.K. Rowling had the same attitude towards her writing when she was an unknown then we wouldn't have had to put up with all those wizard books...
