serious 80s geekdom going on here... just cancel the new stuff and do new episodes with the Hoff in his mid-life crisis, dusting off the old Kitt to go cruisin for college girl virgins with rich daddies being ransomed by the mob with talking trucks. that's right NBC. nothing has to make ANY sense... =0p

The movie was not good. Now this report comes out; it sounds like they know they're doomed and have no idea how to save themselves.

Bring back Daniels and Hasselhoff? This is the first time I've seen a reboot turn back on itself...

It's an un-reboot... an unboot?... or maybe a de-reboot?...

The Hoff is passe in today's media market. The 18-24 demo sees him as a joke, a la Shatner. His brief cameo in the pilot will probably be his biggest involvement with the new series.

Knight Rider has never been aimed at the "Emmy" crowd. And the lack of a desirable demo is why Boston Legal has been slowly dying with lackluster ratings. It's the best show no one watches.

Bill Clay... Billy Shatner is my cousin (yes, I am actually serious no joke), and over the last 30 plus years, I have seen him weather financial ruin and rebuild... Career death and rebirth in multiple decades of film and movies... He suffered the loss of a loved one and made it through and bested his demons... Plus, he gets his status as a KING of the Ironic Past-Prime Hero, read his Kirk continuation in book form... So, on behalf of the Shatners and kin... When you are gone no one will remeber you (ok, a handfull will), but SHATNER is loved by millions and known to millions more... I am glassy guy, but you got to mrs, so... Fuck You.

I think the backdoor pilot destroyed the chances of this thing being a hit. Even if they fix the many, many problems with the backdoor pilot, they may have turned off a prime segment of their target audience.

At least the Bionic Woman didn't have people to have its pilot stewing in people's heads for six to eight months before the next episode aired like Knight Rider has. And the Bionic Woman's pilot wasn't nearly as bad as Knight Rider's.

This show is DOA. Well, unless they cut a really good deal with Ford for product placement that Ford can't back out of. Then it could stick around for a while. The backdoor pilot was one long commercial for Ford.

Wow, a Talkback were another t'backer (sounds gay, written that way, right?) will agree with something someone said... That being me. Looking at the perception of those that never saw Trek in the original airing, theatre in Toronto and abroad, his music (which even I hated), the Twilight Zone classic, TJ Hooker, and the ST motion pictures - when they were anticipated, I can see how many younger patrons just knowing/viewing his ironic commercials, bombastic character on Boston Legal, and Trek convention goof-and-silly random stories with Nemoy, would see him in such a way, especially if they see what he was before, back in his hayday... so B-Clay to an extent I agree, but as family of his and with the knowledge that millions more still see him (albiet older now), still as James T. Kirk, kick ass captain... PS: An f-bomb is Ok, but the need to FOAD another, just an FY will suffice good sir. Back to Knight Rider... TV movie sucked, Williams will not come to the TV show out of loyalty (classy) and wait it out to do a movie, if one happens. IF not he has his Disney Channel Boy Meets World residuals, yay...

If done right this could be a real high point for the 1rst season and a ratings explosion. If they did it something like the new KITT is trapped and things look dire. Then all of a sudden the old KITT comes in and saves their ass. Yup! That would be cool! One of the things I found missing from the recent TV movie is they didn't use the old theme enough. That was such a big part of the program. I know it's dated but it was part of the feel of the show.

I'm sorry...but seeing the Hoff running and sliding across the hood of K.I.T.T. at his age may make me wet myself with laughter.

You could always have William Daniel's as the voice of Michael's super computer he uses to track the new guys movement. The Fanboy in me would love to see him back behind the wheel...But Hoff in an "Oracle" type role...might be the smarter choice...Plus...it takes Pontiac out of the equation.

Mike Tracer is put out of commission and needs help to save the day, but with the ultimate car being controlled by the forces of evil, what is a hero to do? Why, there's no car on Earth that can stop it! Except...for a disheveled 1980s Pontiac with an old-fashioned sentient computer with attitude to spare...and his weathered, down on his luck driver. Mike Tracer has to convince Michael Knight to take on the KITT of the future by once again taking the wheel of his favorite Trans Am. It's KITT vs. KITT, old school. I'd pay money to see it. When I was a really young kid, hopped up on SPEED RACER and even before M.A.S.K. came out, I was convinced that all you had to do to make a car able to fly was open the doors (to act as the wings) and have a really fast engine. Then, a little bit later in life, whilst still a kid, M.A.S.K. confirmed for me that this was true -- you didn't need to have special wings like the Car Acrobatic Team, all you needed was to open your doors and drive really fast. Sadly, this was also how I lost both my first and second cars. After that I stopped believing in cartoons. Damn this consensus reality! DAMN IT TO HELL!!!

Michelle Ryan was unfairly blamed for the show's failure. She was hot, she could act, she did action well, and she also did a convincing American accent. It still amazes me that NBC canceled the show because the ratings were decent. I guess the fact that they didn't have the rights to certain classic characters like Oscar Goldman added to the complications of having producers in a revolving door environment.
