However, Bill Nighy has done some enjoyable stuff. Still won't make me see the film though. After the slight let down of Tropic Thunder, I do need something to pick me back up. Maybe I'll go give some money to TDK again.

... the only good thing in the 2nd and 3rd POTC films besides Depp.

And he was brilliant in Notes on a Scandal and Shaun of the Dead. He was insanely memorable although he had a smallish part.

Oh yeah, Shaun is a real gem

Nothing more, nothing less, just some fun shit with vampires and werewolves.

Not every movie needs to be shakespeare or star wars. I rather enjoyed them, that said I am a card carrying Roleplayer and have played the Vampire games from White Wolf which a lot of the vampire culture was nicked from.

Great interview. Mr. Nighy makes every movie he is in a better movie. He also seems to be a sincere and humble gentleman who is comfortable in his skin. Great job, Capone.

Platoon, Attention! Present...Arms! Man, anytime that little peice of walking Viagra (Rhona Mitra) is in a picture, there's really no point to a story. I'm still trying to figure out what Doomsday was all about. Well, maybe that's because it was trash* (Or like Harry once wrote, "Sure, I’d fuck it – but I also want to put it in a shallow grave – so I can dig it back up and fuck it later.") Mmmmm. That damn Rhona Mitra.

Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen had to carry that cliched shitfest of a movie, with a little help from Beckinsale's PVC-clad ass. Seriously, the script was ridiculously lame, the dialogue was something you'd expect from a bunch of lonely goth kids playing Vampire: The Masquerade to make themselves feel special and powerful in their make-believe universe, and the line delivery from nearly the entire cast was about the same. Nighy and Sheen alone were watchable, and it's a testament to just how talented those guys are that they were able to do so much when given so little.
And about those photos...

Well in the case of this interview it would have been VERY awkard, barring on the downright weird, if it had been a photos of BN and Capone on the phone since they WERE in the same room. But of course: I'm only talking about the interviews conducted face-to-face.

is fabulous...she's wielding a broad-sword in one hand, and her poise is perfect. She's got four inches of height, and twenty more pounds of muscle than Kate Beckinsale, and she's way more believable as a female vampire badass. Good luck to this film!

Couldn't fathom why he would do that. Terrific, classic British actors always seem to end up in the most crass of Hollywood shit (Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, John Gielgud, etc... actually, all three appear in "Caligula"...). My theory? Its because classy British actors consider the theater to be their real legitimate artform, so any film role is just for the cash.

Still, "Underworld" is catastrophically bad, even in the company of most Hollywood genre crap. How do you botch a film about Vampires and Warewolves shooting each other up with high powered weapons? Horrible, terrible writing and acting can only take you so far... after that, it becomes necessary to submerge the film in blue dye for a couple of weeks to really bring out that level of suck that really stands out from the pack.

And Underworld 2 is even worse!

.... rocks and is one of the few actors who doesn't come across as just plain weird or messed up in an interview. Great guy. The Underworld films all had serious issues (namely that Beckinsale can't act hyer way out of a paper bag, no sense of time progression, many dubious plot elements) but I have found both interesting and fun to watch nonetheless. This one should be better (perhaps), since Nighy and Sheen were my favorite elements of Underworld. And Wiseman destroyed DH for me, so seeing him gone can only be a boon.
