I will allow "The Rack" to be included. I see nothing wrong with viewing films recorded off TCM. A lot of great stuff not on dvd airs on TCM. You should do that more often. I would also like to see more "omg! you haven't seen that?", type classics at least every fifth film. The runs of good, but forgettable films kinda drags the column down sometimes. Spirit of St. Louis to Barry Lyndon was rough. You need more "tent poles" I think.

I know you said before that the dvd quality is fine, but that cover makes it look like the generic public domain low-quality stuff. So is the picture quality really ok?

One of the first movies to freak me out as a kid. Not the first--I'm thinking of one flick I saw on HBO circa 1977 that was really messed up, about Armegeddon or the end of the world, and I seem to remember it ending with a guy rolling around naked with two girls and somehow they get merged into one ape-like creature that speaks like Groucho Marx. And somehow that's the next stage of evolution for man. That movie was freaky. And I think I had already been scared pissless by Carrie before I saw Little Girl . . . but still, damn, that movie weirded me out. Of course, I was, like, seven years old.

Arnold also freaked me out. Quint, if you've never seen Arnold (1973) with Roddy McDowell and Jamie Farr and Stella Stevens, you might want to check it out. Bizarre movie, worth it for seeing Roddy McDowell murdered by getting squeezed to death by a too-tight leisure suit. So, Arnold, Hellhouse, a few other movie I shouldn't have seen so young had already freaked me up, but Little Girl was certainly in there. And I don't think I've seen that film since 1977, 1978.

Favorite movie I saw a thousand times, thanks to how often HBO re-ran things back in '78? The Big Bus. I saw that movie a lot. I always hopes someone would remake it. No, we've got to remake Friday the 13th. No love for The Big Bus? Come on, people.

Have you ever seen The Big Bus, Quint? If not, you've got plenty of linkage . . . Stockard Channing, Larry Hagman, Ruth Gordon, Ned Beatty, Joseph Bologna, Lynn Redgrave, Richard Mulligan. James Frawley directed that and one of my all-time favorite movies, The Muppet Movie. And has been directing TV for the last 20 years. ;)

Give The Big Bus some love. I'm countin' on ya.

the Armageddon type film from the 70's sounds like The Final Programme- with Jon Finch as Jerry Cornelius and directed by the helmer of the Dr Phibes movies. The needle gun that Cornelius uses is great.

"The result of the experiment is supposedly a new Messiah, but is actually a rather dumpy looking caveman"--from Wikipedia. That sounds like it's it, exactly. One day, I will watch that movie again, and I probably will find almost nothing familiar about it except the end. And I wonder why a 1973 film was getting so much play on HBO back in 1977-78. I remember them showing that one a lot.

The picture quality is fantastic on all three of the 4 films I've watched on the disc. All have commentary by Jimmy Sangster, Hammer Art Director and a film historian. They actually treat this release with some class, which is why it's so shocking that the cover looks so generic and unappealing.

Added it to the wishlist. Seems odd that they would skimp so much on the cover, I would wager projects like this are bought 80% of the time based on the cover art.
