Seriously, just stop now. I'm sick of people doing this young star-crossed bit over and over again. And for the record, Romeo and Juliet was one of Shakespeare's worst love stories ever written. Pull up the play. It is lengthy and obtuse (especially the end scenes in the cemetary). It was written by Shakespeare when he was cynical, and it is a statement about how silly young love is. His sonnets show his respect for more mature love. Romeo wants to die because Rosalyn doesn't love him, and 12 hours later, he decides he is in love with someone completely different, even though he hasn't even talked to her yet. Everyone is copying this story, and they don't even get what the fucking story is about.

Beckinsale was always supposed to play the protagonist in the prequel, right? The whole thing is that Nighy-vampire adopted Beckinsale-vampire because she looked just like his real daughter, yes? Wow, I retained way too much of those movies. Oh well, I guess it saves poor Michael Sheen from having to act opposite his ex-wife, in a sequel to the film whose director she left him for. Yowch.

I mean they're just so "1988 called and it wants all its Ann Rice books back." Just played out, lame, faggy goth-kid stuff. The only good vampire movie is Near Dark except they really fucked up the ending. The only good vampire character in fiction is Cassidy from Preacher. I loved that one-shot where he went to New Orleans and met an Ann Rice-style vampire. "You're a wanker... one who wanks." He ends up nailing the goth-pire to a rooftop and waiting for sunrise.

...and it looks well kinda fun; the medieval setting is fresh, the return of Nighy and Sheen is just great and it actually looks like delivering what the first two didn't, namely a decent all out vampire/werewolf mash-up...none of these blue vampy-wolves running around all over the place.

It was Len Wismans first film he ever directed and he made it for only $22 million. Diss the flick all you want but rarely does money that puny translate to a genre flick as well made as Underworld was and containing a story with some depth. The second film was just as awesome and it had the most impressive Vampires i've ever seen in Marcus. I can't wait for this final flick, I've enjoyed this budget series immensely!

But my only problem was where the mace hit her. In the big fight scene, she gets a mace in the right-ass cheek, and blood actually hits the camera lens! But then, her backside is fully clothed, with no rips after. I suppose her half-naked butt would have been a bit distracting during the ensuing action sequences, but a guy can dream...

I wanted to hate this franchise. I avoided watching it until one day there was nothing to watch and it was on the teevee. And I found myself stuck there watching the whole thing. It was pretty, had an ok story, and moved along well. I don't see why it gets so much hate.

She's no Kate Beckinsale. With the UNDERWORLD franchise, I'm like, "What's the point with Beckinsale in tight leather?" That was certainly one of the big highlights of the series. And I thought part 2 was a step up from part 1. That's what you want in any series. Too bad. You can't just lose your lead entirely and expect to carry on without a hitch.

Someone else mentioned it but I was wondering too. She dies pretty early in the story in a dramatic bolt of sunshine. It seems that it was before any rise of the lycan. If Luchien is their leader and he escaped then and there no rise would happen until after that. I'm loved the other films just thinking her role will be pretty small.
