I am but that really has nothing to do with this post

if Stone really is going in the doonsberry (or even Mallard Fillmore) direction of broad political satire, I'm on board, if it's more along his Nixon line,I could sit it out

However I can't see stone pulling that off, he's pretty untested in intentional comedy let alone something that broad, but I'd love to be proven wrong

on a compeltely unrelated side note, I work at a hotel in Kansas and met a lady that was a set designer on the movie, had a nice little conversation with her

Some people really need to seek treatment for their CBHS (Chronic Bush Hatred Syndrome). War criminal? I am a republican, and I DO NOT entirely agree with what has been going on the past 8 years. That being said, sometimes you gotta piss people off to do what needs to be done. That is what CLinton's problem was. He was so busy "feeling our pain" and doing interns that he severely weakened this country in ways that people cannot begin to imagine because they are so busy HATING W.

I do not have a problem with this movie. Air all of his dirty laundry, go ahead. Was a he an irresponsible, immature a$$hole as a young man? Probably so. But, just about EVERY guy is at one time or another in his life. Human beings are flawed creatures. The fact that he eventually got his act together and became POTUS, should be a good story. Even if it is a caricature or satire. Did he have a problem with drugs and alcohol? Well, Stone (and most of Hollywood for that matter) have had substance problems. At least W is not a pot-smoking (didn't inhale? PLEASE), draft-dodging (went to Canada because he "despised" the military), womanizing, weak-spined sack of lard like Clinton.

Maybe Stone can follow it up with a pic about Clinton and how they stole tons of stuff out of the white house, and his staff took all of the "W"s off of the keybords, and glued drawers shut. Real mature. Or maybe about how Clinton was offered Bin Laden on 3 different occassions and PASSED! Even after the 1st WTC bombing. Or maybe how the "balanced the budget" and created a false surplus (it was only on paper people) by butchering the military (base closures and lack of equipment), intelligence, and other facets of National Security... That would be a great movie.

I know this "Russian" dude (whose actually from the Ukraine and Jewish) whose is currently about 60 years old and who either studied under or worked for the government in Moscow from 18 to roughly 50 years of age (I never asked for specifics), before moving to Massachusetts. After that totally random poisoning of the poll-leading, pro-West Ukrainian candidate, I asked him, "How much influence does the Russian Mob have in the Russian Government?" He stared at me for about 3 seconds before I asked the question again with different phrasing. He then realized I believed the two were distinct entities, and explained they were not: that the Russian mob and the Russian gov were the exact same. He and his (actually) Russian friends had a good laugh about how naive I (and, thus, all Americans) was afterwards.

I read a script review that said the movie painted Bush as an angry drunkard. Bush is not a popular guy, and somewhat deservedly so. I think he gets bashed unfairly in some regards, but he does bring quite a bit down on his own head either way. If you want to rip the guy, he gives you plenty of ammo to do as such. That is why it doesn't make sense to me when people make up random bullshit. Seriously, is there any proof the guy is an angry drunkard?

Umm... that actually didn't happen. Just because Ari Fleischer said that the Clinton staffers trashed the White House doesn't make it true. In fact, because ari Fleischer said it happened, is direct evidence that it is not true. And the surplus was real. Or at least real enough for your boy georgie jr to use it to give pepole those $300.00 refunds back in 2001.

Actually, in "Fortunate Son" (or almost any unbiased biography on George W Bush), it tells about Laura giving him an ultimatum to stop drinking or else. That goes a long way to show he han an alcohol problem. Which one could call being a "drunkard". And the fact that he would get into physical fights with his old man and the fact that he was kind of a sadist from a very early age goes a long way to show he was "angry". And it's also been shown that if he wasn't an "angry drunkard", he was certainly a "mean drunk". Watch some footage of him drunk (you can find it on Youtube), it's pretty clear that while he may not be an "angry drunkard", he's got a nasty streak when he is drunk. So I don't think that it's completely out of left field to potray him in is younger years as an "angry drunkard"

Sure hardly anyone remembers it and yes it IS a fictionalised account it but it aired.

And that article concedes there may just be a rational explanation for the lack of DVD that doesn't involve the Clintons Machiavellian hand stifling the Networks though it does mean you would have to believe in something called the free market.

"From our standpoint, it had many hours of broadcast time, so it was exposed. It's not like it was stifled and no one heard it," said Adam Somers, executive director of PEN Center USA in Culver City. "In our opinion, it was a business decision by Disney. You have to assume if Disney thought they'd make money, they'd release it."

One of the Most popular Drama's ever produced, NYPD Blue, hasn't had a DVD release of any of the seasons from 5-12. Now was that the Clintons or was it economics ? Because I KNOW it's hugely popular by the nature of it's syndication and audience yet I don't look for any Ludicrous Conspiracy to explain the lack of DVD's.

If there really is such a huge demand for your little Movie then the course of action is clear.

An internet petition that would show the Company the demand for a DVD release is really out there and not just imaginary.

It's happened before for quite a few TV productions and because you think this is such a crucial matter of free speech why don't you start one and contact the disgruntled "masses" you claim are demanding it ?

You still don't seem to have grasped the point though.

Despite it's fairly obvious problems with accuracy. It was aired. It was aired WORLDWIDE. It wasn't banned and not everything gets released to DVD anyway.

If that seems like repetition it's simply because I can see you really enjoy that sort of thing by parroting what I've already said at least twice.

And Kudos for comparing the Senate to Stalin because some irate Dem Senators sent a letter to ABC over innacuracies. You clearly aren't delusional in the slightest.

To quote "someone" from earlier in this thread "It'll be hard to top that as a moronic moment on this talkback."

Job Done Morbid.

But no doubt you can tell us when the Dems in the Senate had Millions of Political opponents executed and Millions sent to Gulags and have wiped out whole pages of History in a Stalin like Purge ?

And Reid DID send a letter to Walt Disneys CEO, as can anyone else who feels they have a problem with any programme they transmit. Personally I don't give really care if it does get released to DVD. It's really not that important.

"Some irate Dem Senators" didn't "send a letter to ABC over inaccuracies."

YES, they did. It was through Disney's CEO rather than ABC so if that is your level of anal quibbling well done, but the letter was sent and it was undersigned by Reid AND several other Dems.

You said "Harry Reid himself threatened ABC's broadcasting license while demanding edits that the Clintons wanted made to a film."

Was that in a letter to the CEO of Disney or not ? True or False ?

"That's as close as the Senate's ever gotten to Stalin"

YES, you clearly are batshit insane at this point, but leaving that aside.. Does a letter undersigned by Senators even signed by the Majority Leader of the Senate, to a corporation have any actual Legal power to compell or demand action ? YES or NO ?

It was a letter dipshit. Not a fucking Senatorial Committee.

Anyone can write to any TV CEO and remind them of their obligations to accuracy in regard to the communications act. TRUE or FALSE ?

Seriously exactly what kind of STUPENDOUS power do you imagine Harry Reid has ? He certainly hasn't done very much in the senate.

Do you REALLY think anyone apart from idiot Loyal Bushies are cowering in terror from a figure of such unbridled menace and authority as Harry Reid ????

You need to lie down in a dark room for a while Morbid as your impotent fury at the Dems has clearly gotten the better of your admittedly tenuous grasp of reality.

Nobody gives a shit about this DVD release except furious wingnuts and Loyal Bushies.

But Please keep it up.

As your protestations that you aren't outraged simply don't match up to your obsessive fury and frankly certifiable babbling about Stalin and the Senate over what is, lets face it, an inconsequential film that simply hasn't been released to DVD.

Or is it a relative non-issue that desperate wingnuts cling to in the face of the collapsed and corruption-ridden Republican Party, especially now in the sunset days of Bush's reign (and Obama's ascension)?

But don't mind Morbid. He continues to think the economy is fine (it helps to read news about yesterday's stats and ignore current trends and conditions) and is looking forward to Inglorious Bastards to fulfill his Israeli commando fantasy that Zohan fell just shy of doing.

W. looks like a regular 'Hey, look, this guy was a fucking misbegotten son of a rich fuck that you elected, and now he's gone.'

Bush did coke, dodged the fucking war, and did whatever the fuck he wanted because he was rich. Just like you'd do if you were rich, and just like I'd probably do if I were rich. What's appalling is that he didn't have the common decency to just stay in the fucking private sector. He had to go and impress his worthless, dickless old man. Go America!

The entire world (wingnuts and Mikheil Saakashvili excepted) saw the hypocrisy in Bush and Rice's denouncements.

Which is why it fell upon, of all countries, France to broker a peace. Bush is a lame duck whose lame duckness has unfortunately rubbed off on our foreign policy standing. Which is why John McCain would be a disaster, towing the Bush/NeoCon line until the country's back is finally broken.

Hate to break the news to our wingnut compadres, but Obama is our best chance at redemption and correction. I'd be interested in being convinced otherwise, but I doubt anyone here can put up a valid argument to the contrary.
