The only places where a son would gain the same position of power as his dad are tiny, backwater towns or filthy little "republics" with iron fisted despots.

And I guess that means the US is one of the former. I mean W's dad was head of the CIA (read: secret police) and they both belong to a shady frat. Doesn't that sound like a banana republic?

First of all, they made a remake years ago with Gary Busey, but didn't do their research and brought back Chin Ho who had been killed off in an earlier season. So it never aired once they discovered the mistake. The big problem with another remake is, Jack Lord was a true original. He cared about the show and it's quality to the point where he was known as a "stern taskmaster." I don't think you'll find another actor with the grit and personality of Jack Lord to lead the cast. Or the hair! So I issue this warning to CBS......if you screw this up and kill my wonderful memories of this show, I will follow your every step, watch your every move, be close enough that you'll feel my hot breath on the back of your lowlife, non-original thinking, remake happy executive necks until you make that final mistake.........and then I'll slap on the handcuffs, look at James McArthur (who coincidentally, follows me everywhere), and utter those immortal words........BOOK 'EM DANNO.....MURDER ONE! Be there....Aloha!

Whats next? Barney Miller Jr? Mannix Jr? The Jr Rockford Files? Come on folks, if you ever watched the show McGarrett was NOT the marrying type! I'd rather see a strong asian actor cast as one of Chin-Ho's bazillion kids grown up and still pissed his dad was killed in the line of duty. Hell I might even go with Dan William's kid but McGarrett jr? No fuckin way!

I've been watching this show around lunchtime lately. I never saw it as a kid; just knew the theme song and "Book 'em, Danno." I'm a little surprised by some of the plots of the show, like the one where the old man was going to blow up a bunch of youngsters because he wanted people to move his house. But I can't get past that film stock. Yech! Also, a new version of the show would have to work very hard to last longer than a few minutes. I'd hate to think of what else they'll mine just for name recognition. Charles In Charge 3000. In the Heat of the Night: The Next Night. Mr. Ed Forever. Little House on The Prairie: the 20th century. Keep Fighting Back: With David Horowitz, Jr.

I vomit on that damn show and all of its sequels. A better sequel would have and could have been done for MAGNUM PI, but the bright minds at CBS apparently aren't all that bright these days. Dim, energy-saving 40-watt bulbs up top in their little heads, at best. FWIW, a Hawaii Five-0 sequel may generate a little interest with nostalgia fans, but probably not much, and if it looks anything like another CSI, then they can kiss my ass.

Just got back from Waikiki with the kiddies and showed them the building where Five-O had their offices. I think it's a state building or landmark now. Was talking about how great the series was - one of the best cop shows in history. Best stories, best villians (Wo Fat!), best mysteries. Best fucking cop, McGarrett! And now I'm sure CBS will fuck this up, because those fucking CSI shows suck the ass of a Hawaiian pig - some of the dumbest stories, worst acting (case in point - Callie on CSI Miami - great looking but that's it) and dumbest subplots. CBS already is on my shit list anyway for canceling good dramas like Jericho, etc, so I don't expect much out of this. But if they really fuck THIS up, they can burn in hell.

This is a "high concept" that comes from some unthinking suit trying to combine a recycled past success with 'Dog the Bounty Hunter".
&n bsp;  Didn't they make a TV movie sequel with Danno as the lead?
&n bsp;  Hawaii 50 was on so long that the network had invested in a lot of equipment in that state. After the show was finally canceled they wanted to do something with that investment. That is how Magnum P.I. was born.

&nbs p;   If McGarrett JR. does a temporary blindness episode it would be a lot more surprising and contemporary if the nurse he falls in love with turns out to be a man.

"But, your voice was sooo feminine...!"
"Why, thank you. I worked hard on that, you flirt."
