which is a shame cos theres real potential for someone to do a proper clash of the titans style epic, focused on Hercules/Heracles. instead it'll look more like a conana rip off.... they always do.

Your parents have to be awfully pompous to name your child after the hero who defeated the Teutonic Knights during the battle on the ice. It is also the name of my one of my favorite films, with a kick ass score by Prokofiev. It is arguably the greatest film score ever recorded.
The best was Arnie.

No one sings anything about taking in a Kevin Sorbo movie.

So let me show you around, maybe play you a sound You look like you're both pretty groovy Or if you want something visual that's not too abysmal We could take in an old Steve Reeves movie.

Kevin Sorbo was a pretty scrawney Hercules

...I remember when that show came out I thought "THIS guy is Hecules?" I mean, sure, Sorbo could kick my ass but he's playing freaking HERCULES. This is the Superman of 300 B.C. He should be freaking RIPPED. They should have cast Sorbo as Odysseus/Ulysses. THAT I could buy.

Did anybody happen to ever see an Australian movie about a guy and his friends that open a movie theater? The first movie they show was a Hercules film, but it had no sound, so he and his friends had to crowd in the projection booth and do the soundtrack for the whole movie. It was really funny in the style of MST3K, and I can never seem to find a copy of it anywhere.
Never mind...

that people think that Hercules is on the same level as Xena... Xena was a FICTIONAL piece of crap. Hercules is a Greek myth, based on some truth, and goes way beyond that crappy tv show. a real Hecules movie could be great. IT could be like Troy (except good.) You could throw 200 million at a Hercules movie and it would be fantastic. what would be even better would be a series of interlinking films focusing on different heroes in greeky mythology. Greek Myth has basically the same structure as the Marvel universe has now.

Alexander Nevsky was without a doubt the best work that Eisenstein ever did - really, just think a Russian John Huston. Just what this guy intends to do with Hercules is... Open to debate.

I freaking love that soundtrack and I love Prokoviev...his Romeo and Juliet (specifically "Montagues & Capulets" is also ass kicking fun). I love those more aggresive classical numbers...even in the midst of love stories! Sergei kicks ass!

Gotta say, I met Alexander Nevsky in LA last year and whatever the comparisons to Arnold etc, spend five minutes with him and he'll get you genuinely excited about the projects he's involved with. I'd definitely rate him as a guy who can get things done and his Moscow Heat was fun enough.
