Generation Kill is must see TV. The Wire is simply unmatched. And Homicide was a great show. As has already been said.

So I'd say the omens for TREME are rather good myself.

_the mf wire_, on the other hand...love both these actors AND khandi a. for their work with simon past and, i'll bet, future. k.a. was so raw and incredible on _the corner_, i was sorry to see her wasting her talents on blacklit crime scene investigations. show us what you've got, khandi!

I also just finished "The Corner" yesterday, which I got to satiate my "The Wire" jones until season five of "The Wire" comes out. In my opinion "The Wire" is vastly superior to the "The Corner". However, "The Corner" won three Emmys out of the four for which it was nominated.

I think Hollwood's racism is more subtle than just dissing an "all black cast" Hollywood doesn't mind an all black cast. What Hollywood doesn't like is black people being portrayed as competent and intelligent. Hollywood loved "The Corner" because 99% of the characters were fuck-ups, drug dealers and junkies. In "The Wire" it did not matter if the character was a cop, a criminal, a politician or a junkie the black person was usually the smartest person in the room. Hollywood wants the white audience to see 99% of all minorities as fuck-ups.

This isn't exactly an original idea. Simon himself has pretty much said the same thing.

The interesting thing about "The Corner" is that it has almost the same cast as "The Wire" except that all the actors that play cops on "The Wire" play dealers or junkies in "The Corner". Which makes it like watching the Mirror Universe version of "The Wire".

An additional bonus of "The Corner" is that the wardrobe person seemed to have a thing against bras. Almost none of the ladies in the cast wear them. It is very cold in Baltimore.
