He's the hackiest of the hacks, but he turns 'em in on time and under budget, so he keeps getting work. Used to have Pyun film festivals when I worked at a video store, and the laughs were non-stop.

That clip just shows how silly the character is in live-action. Good luck to those making the new movie!
A crappy tribute is worse than a crappy remake.

This will be awful - the original is a guilty pleasure, at best. What's with these tribute movies? I just saw Doomsday and that took the "tribute" too far - it was exactly Escape from New York (minus the bits from Aliens and The Road Warrior)! No story credit for John Carpenter either. A crappy tribute is worse than a crappy remake because someone's claiming its their own creation.

Actually, if I understand correctly, it had to do with all the SAG stuff going on...not wanting to roll so close to the potential strike and what not.
Yeah, that Captain America

Will go down as the definitive version of the character in film. There's actually a line in the movie that explains his goofy costume. The sarge is talking to Steve Rogers (Captain America) after handing him the suit. He says of the woman who tailored it, "Well, she may not know much about cammouflage, but she sure is patriotic!" Great. That explains it. Not like he was going on a top level US military mission or anything, right?
Thanks for the clarification Merrick

I thought for a moment the "political" aspect was just another self-promoting stunt from Pyun.

Ben is Glory? (Sorry. Had to)

That out of my system, "Moulin Rouge meets torture porn" is the best pitch ever but only because it made me laugh.

I think Michael Para is cool. Always dug Streets of Fire and Eddie and The Cruisers. Sounds like a fun enough project.

It's a backhanded 'tribute' to SoF at best.

If you go to it;s website, it looks like the cheapest DTV pile of cack you've ever imagined. If it is Pyun's wish to do a backdoor sequel to SoF, why the hell is Cody suddenly a serial murderer looking for redemption? Where the hell is the neon and the bikers? And where the frikikin' frick is Diane Lane? Its such a shame Pare became the take-any-paycheck actor he is, he slid alongway down the ladder to finally end up in an association with Uwe Boll for crying out loud. No wonder he's willing to revisit and rape one of the only films that gave him the goodwill he's coasted on all these years. Philadelphia Experiment was great, Eddie and the Cruisers was cool but Streets of Fire was an absolute guilty pleasure classic - it is so much better than the press it gets would lead you to believe. Corny, yes. Cheesy, definately. Bad acting? There's a fair bit present. But there's also amazing cinematography, beautiful visual, a dreamlike pace and some terrific music. And Diane Lane, in the sexiest dress she ever wore. On stage, rocking out to Steinman. I love that film so much, I want to be buried with a copy of it for the afterlife. So i'm more than a little peeved that Pyun professes to love the movie, yet is obviously pissing over it rather copiously. The fuck.

because a remake would have been evil and a sequel would have required the old cast to come back or would have been bogus. So an "inspired by" sounds good.
