First off, a very good interview with Jet, and it was actually quite interesting to hear him comparing the differences in directing. Good work. Liked the Maria Bello interview too.

My question is, can you give us any sort of indication as to the quality of the new Mummy film? You had mentioned the attacks for the editing visits and stuff, but most of us don't care or think that really affects your opinion. You were a proponent of the first two Mummy films, and I quite enjoyed my theater visits to both of those. Overtime, I have grown quite fond of the first film, and the second didn't really hold up, especially in the fx department. I find I can't even go back and really watch it.

So for those of us who appreciate your view on movies, can you give any of us who might see the movie before you post your review, an idea if it's worth those primetime ticket prices?

If you are restricted from saying something thats fine, but I have Friday off and there is a good chance I'd be checking this out before I even get a chance to see what most critics think.

I've enjoyed some of Rob's stuff in the past, and I'm excited Randy is doing the score. In fact, I thought the trailer looked like possibly the best Mummy thus far.

... I'll post my full review on Friday, after all the interviews, but I'll be frank: I think it's pretty disappointing. It's strange, too... many of the right pieces are in place, but the film's just sort of inert. I wouldn't call it a heartbreak because it's not like my hopes for the summer were pinned on a MUMMY movie, but if you're a real fan of the series, I'd brace for impact.
Now thats a damn shame.

I think I'll probably wait a week then.

I actually have movie money for this one, so my cash isn't in danger. It's my time. With Encounters at the End of the World, X-Files 2 playing nearby, Mummy is gonna get bumped to next weekend then. And the Imax here in Baltimore finally got Kung-Fu Panda, so I'm ready to give that one a try.

And then I hope that Transsiberian shows up somewhere nearby. I have loved everything Brad's done so far, so here is hoping.

Also, what's the deal with Midnight Meat Train. Isn't that releasing this weekend? Heard it was a real limited release though.

yea, this summer has really been great..

for movies, honestly. I even quite enjoyed Indy 4, while acknowledging it's weaknesses. The only truly bad thing I've see thus far is The Happening. But then again I dodged Wanted and Hancock, and ignored most of this summer's comedies thus far. Save for Son of Rambow. That was pure genius.

Which is basically Jet's contribution to the Indy Jones genre. It's actually more like the Chinese Romancing the Stone than Indy, but it features Jet in the Indy get-up, and where else can you have a movie that starts with a giant golden ram rolling over people, end it with a battle of flame swords, and have a scene in the middle where Jet li actually grabs Sumos by their legs and throws them, followed by his sidekick asking "Can you teach me how to throw fatties?"

Don't be an ass, it was meant as a point of reference for how common translators are for Asian cinema stars, not not to be a douche by rubbing his past experiences in our faces. I hate senseless name-dropping as much as the next guy but thats not what he did here. Don't be jealous.

It’s a family film in some regards but at the same time does a good job with the whole martial arts epic thing. I saw it opening night in a packed house and it got some serious applauds when the credits rolled but for whatever reason it was largely ignored after that first weekend. The fight between Li and Chan was worth the price of admission alone.

He's a recent father, he's gonna talk about his wife and kids. I like to think of the AICN staff as sort of a family of friends, who can take joy in each other's lives. We all come to this site to get their reviews and their insights, and it has a personal vibe. I like that. It isn't like reading reviews by snobby, pompous film critics from the Times, it's got a down-to-earth feel to it. Would you rather them be cold and impersonal snobs?

I feel like a lot of d-bags come on here and spread hate to try and make themselves feel tough. I love reading interviews and reviews here. I'm going to see Mummy 3 too, not for Jet Li but for Brendan Fraser who yells all his lines: "I HATE MUMMIES!" makes me laugh every time.

I was totally blown away by how amazing it looks in Imax, then I saw it again on a regular screen and it is still an awesome movie!

As for Jet Li, he is great, I loved My Father Is A Hero, Black Mask and Fist of Legend and so many others... bring on the Yeoh interview!

I can name a dozen martial arts movies off the top of my head that are better than Fist of Legend. Check out some older material such as Lau Kar Leung's Invincible Pole Fighter, some other older Woo Ping or even some Sammo Hung films to find better martial arts movies. Yeah I agree Dazzler69 that The One is definitely underrated.
