Well scratch that. They can't sing western music. Why? Because their vocal chords haven't developed in a way that would allow them to hit the notes properly. I had a mainland chinese biology teacher last year and he had a very thick accent.. and he'd been here since 1985. He said the reason why he can't speak clear english is because vocal chords stop developing in your teens and the Chinese language is so much different from english. Do you know of an asian singer who has made it big in the west? Exactly. as for asians who grew up speaking english, I don't have a theory as to why they don't have strong voices.

Bruce Lee was a dancer before he became a famous movie star and won numerous dance competitions. It goes with the territory of Asian martial arts. Over there, its about performing, and martial arts (just like singing or dancing) is a way of expressing oneself. As for his appearance, he's no more effete than Tony Jaa. And he could probably kick all of your asses.

I'll admit, when you watch his music video (which I just watched after Augi posted it), yeah, that looks pretty gay. But I've seen footage of Bruce Lee dancing back before stardom, and Jackie Chan singing, and if you didn't know who they were, you would get the same vibe. And when it comes down to it, the athletic ability required for dancing is pretty much the same as that for martial arts, especially the acrobatics. And singing goes along with performing. So when applied to fight scenes and action, it works quite well.
