Honestly, this idea really didn't rub me right. I felt that it would be a waste of time, that there were better projects I feel the talent in this film could do, and now with this news, hopefully they can do just that.

...I thought the concept was pretty stupid anyway. Who wants to see a character who's whole M.O. is sticking it to the man turned into a villain? Has Ridley Scott been going to Bilderberg meetings or something?
"Script Concerns"
by ArcadianDS
Jul 28th, 2008
11:47:58 AM
meaning the concept for the film is art school quality, and the studio insisted upon radical changes before offering up the cash. Ridley, being Jesus, felt that his ridiculous idea should not be questioned by mere financial backers whose job it is to, y'know, understand what makes movies profitable - so he dug in his heels and now has a crummy script with no money to make it a movie.

He'll eventually get the money because hes Ridley Jesus and nobody tells Ridley Jesus that his idea for a movie is stupid.

Like Burton doing alice in wonderland , Ridley making Robin , just has that already seen it feel. You can pretty much guess exactly how scenes would look and play out.I'd just like to see Ridley have another go at sci-fi.It would be interesting to see if he's still* got it*.where as the stuff he's making at the moment , just seems like such a waste.

...that dour, marblemouthed yank of a Robin Hood, who wouldn't know an English accent if it was falling out of his mouth (which it pretty much didn't). With his high-maintenance hairdo and joyless, monotone delivery. I always said if they really wanted to have and American play Robin Hood, they should've got Klein. The Robin Hood that came out around the same time with Patrick Bergen and Uma Thurman (which actually got demoted to TV movie to get out of the way of the unsightly Costner moviestar fest) was way better. Not the second coming or anything, just better.

I like Costner, but his Robin Of Locksley is a lazy joke. The movie itself is cheesey good fun, in spite of his California surfer dude take on the character. I shudder to think there actually are those to whom Costner is the quintessential Robin Hood. Errol Flynn, anyone? Connery in Robin and Marian? Shit, even that animated fox in Disney's Robin Hood turned in a better performance than Costner.

Hey, how about your troops come home from Vietraq and Afghanistan and kick some ass in Washington?

In fact, THATS for a "reimaging". Robin Hood is some American Marin, comes home from those senseless wars in the Middle East who are primarily fought for religious craziness and keeping the war profiteers rich, and fight the local authoritarian in Nottingham/Washington. Oh but Alan Rickman just has that more charisma then W.

He was, besides Rickman, the only really good part about Prince of Thieves. Ok, the Kamen score was good too, but the movie was utterly unnecessary.

Only really good version is (as said before by some people here) the Errol Flynn version, and the Disney cartoon was kinda cool too. But Flynn WAS Robin.

Now, if his Blood Meridian can be permanently postponed, I think we'll be getting somewhere. Who doesn't want to see a Ridley Scott western? I, for one, especially not Blood Meridian. Give it back to John Hillcoat and Nick Cave instead. It's the logical next project for them after the The Proposition and this year's The Road, which will surely kick everyone's ass. Scott seems like he doesn't really know what he wants to do anymore, other than studio prestige projects. But he could make a lot of people happy by again directing some groundbreaking science fiction.
