I thought the copy of Tekkon Kinkreet I'm holding in my hands right now came out a few months short of a year ago. Is this what a stroke feels like?

I saw the movie a year ago and it's good fun.. though it's tone shifts so heavily in the second act it's like it's two different movies. But still a good time.

I'm not a jujutsu booster, though I do appreciate it and have dabble into it. That said, other then "get the hell out of there," is there any martial art that is effective against 5 guys?

Unless you're WAY above their level of physical ability, a nice length weapon and using the environment are what a warrior would typically use. But since current law looks down upon people arming themselves (and basically no modern man would have the applicable training and skills necessary anyway),yeah, better work on your cardio.

I remember when I first picked up Cromartie not being a fan of the art, but I liked the humor so much I kept reading. Eventually I realized the art wasn't bad, it was just so different from everything I was used to it took awhile to get used to. This...this is different. This is maybe one step above the promos I see for Super Deluxe on [adult swim]. The author would have to be telling one motherfucking kick ass story for me to get past the visuals I'm seeing. Maybe I'll page through it at Borders the next time I'm waiting for more Yotsuba to come out.
necgray, idiots, and Martial Arts

I would love to hear necgray's idea of what an "unbroken" martial art is. But do you know what I love more? The fast that there are uncountable movies, comic and TV show that have some idiot beat up multiple stuntmen, and everyone accepts that on face value, but if you feature a realistic martial art that works in real life such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, idiots like necgray crawl out of the woodwork.

"Kuro Obi", aka "Black Belt" is a very good movie that features Okinawan Karate that's as authentic as I've ever seen on film. Re: 5 vs 1. I think a highly skilled martial artist can successfully take on 5 (non martial art) guys at once. Though you'd have to allow the martial artist to cripple or kill... and it wouldn't be a guaranteed outcome but I'd give the MA good odds.

Take on five guys and win, with his martial arts. Just saying... I wanna be Batman!
