I've read Last Blood! That's great! Always happy to see a good web comic artist find success. Not sure about the writer adapting it, but the actual story is very engaging and could easily make a very epic and entertaining film. Fingers crossed!

I agree...Blade 2, while more of an action film, did have moments that were actually pretty scary. People hate on this movie all the time. It's far better than the first, and well...the third was a debaccle. Damn you David Goyer...as a director! Keep writing though.

Near Dark is a damn good movie, and speaking those words out loud are enough for some dickhead focus-group to kick a remake into motion. Motion is another word for shit, too. Let's hope that pitting Dracula against Zombies fares better than when Al Adamson set him against Frankenstein...Jesus!

I'm not even sorry to say it, either. 99.99999% of every webcomic I've ever seen is absolute and total trash.

It used to be OK...where well-intentioned rejects from the syndicates plastered their wares all over the place, but when you've got a generation of 13 year olds who've never known the process of trying and (gasp) editing - nearly all who are under the delusion that their work is premium-quality stuff and fuck the rest - it all goes to shit.

Oh, then factor in the gay-ass, scribbled anime look for good measure and you've got a cluster fuck of banality and absolute turd that needs wiping from the toilet bowl of existence. Yes, there ARE good webcomics, just as I'm sure there were good Nazis...good luck finding them.

So I haven't kept up with Last Blood for almost a year (wasn't it down for awhile?), but I don't recall anything about Dracula. Maybe from the back story or perhaps its a recent development, but for those unfamiliar with the story, it certainly is not ABOUT Dracula fighting zombies. It might feature that, but it's really about a handful of vampires perfecting a few handfuls of people from some a literal ocean of zombies. It starts out like something I'd recommend to Near Dark fans, then gets a little I AM Legend and by the end it's batfuck crazy, like Starship Troopers with zombies. There's a literal MOUNTAIN of bodies. Great stuff.

This sounds like it could be good as long as they keep it serious but not dreary, great violence, a locked down camera and boobs.

Herc: Near Dark is great! A white trash vampire flick with a third of the cast of Aliens and the dude from Proffit, travelling around fly over country in a Winnebago doing what vampires do. Niffty flick that Near Dark, The Bar scene is cool as all hell.

It's not the next Watchmen and yes it is a very tired and worn down Webcomic genre (The Zombie Hunters, Kristy Versus the Zombie Army come to mind among others I'm too tired to look up) but its still pretty good. There are actually a lot of good webcomics out there, and there are a lot of shitty comic books on the shelves. The secret in both cases is to take the time to LOOK for them. Just give it a try. It's 100% crappy pencil anime free! ;)

Neo,

Again, I agree that there's quality stuff, and I think it was a mistake to exclude shelf-comics from my rant in explaining the shittiness of webcomics. Just because a comic has made it to (professional) ink doesn't imply its relative greatness, either. How often do those bozos get it wrong?

Sometimes greatness seems to work in spite of the damage artists, editors, managers, secretaries, whatever do to them. The comic industry is a raging pile of feces compared to what it once was - could be again. How many issues of Spiderman does the world need, christ and at one time? At 4 bucks a pop? Yeah, I don't think so...whenever Harry goes on his drooling parade about how movies are starting to act/think more like comic books, I start to cringe. Trust me, that's the LAST thing we need to have happen.

Nothing like taking a grand old idea and running it into the ground, huh? Take zombies..I love the fucks. Love them to death, and this was before they - like Madonna - came back into vogue. But then we get thirty or forty flix a year, and when almost none of them are any good, well fuck that. They start to smell something awful.

Webcomics are like that...again, 99.99999% of them. Rehashing older, better ideas to death and with (usually) bad artwork and no sense of editing or taking advice, they can kill their own idea before it even has a chance. Not saying that everything should be by committee, but not everyone on American Idol can sing, either. The world needs their Simon Cowells to save us from the larger shit-stains of the talent-free. Gotta be cruel to be kind sometimes, you know?

So in essence, take your yaoi-loving, crude anime attempting, supernatural stealing, gothic-nerd hypin, depressed 'autobiographical', no-luck-with-the-pretty woman stuffin, hate the world, crooked-line doin, and excessive fuck-sayin (like this rant) and flush it. Your stuff stinks, you can't draw, your writing belongs in a teenage notebook, and just because your pals say you're "awesome" and the "next big thing" doesn't make it so.

That said, this could be a cool flick IF they make it happen. Who the fuck cares if a script is good if the movie sucks? I pay my 10 bucks to see moving pictures, and to hell if anyone sez I should read a script. I read books. Peace.

I am going to assume the Bela Legosi Dracula is in its own category-- perhaps with Noseferatu--as classics. If we are talking pet favorites, Then I go for From Dusk 'Til dawn. Having written for enterprise is not exactly confidence inspiring, but this is the guy who wrote the Futurama episode featuring the original Star trek cast, is it not? He has a pretty wicked sense of humor you would have to have in order to write a movie like this.

Would work much better as a 13 part mini-series on HBO or Showtime then as a Movie. You could explore many more of the individual stories, plus all the biggies like Hero City, or the India/Himalayian arc with the nukes or the last major battle with the new rifles, plus the Reddekker plan could by shown in detail.

Audio book, eh? Is it new material or adapted from the book? I just read this book a few months ago and would love to find out about any related material.

And as usual, Xiphos is right, a mini-series on HBO or Showtime would be the best bet.

As would a redoing of The Stand(speaking of Salem's Lot, which is my all-time fave network TV movie).

It is a slightly abridged version of the book that came out around the same time. Max Brooks and his wife, Michelle Kholos, also tell the story (he as narrator, of course, she as Jesika Hendriks). I think a mini-series would also be better, but the movie seems to be a done deal. Brad Pitt's company won out over Leonardo DiCaprio's for the rights and it's planned for release next year.

I thought the changes they made to the book made it a tighter, scarier movie. Mr. Barlow was better served being a monstrous freak than a smooth talking pretty boy. The showdown in Barlow's place, while the vampires crept up behind the heroes was great/ Plus, how can you beat James Mason? That guy just oozes cool. Spots were I thought the new Salem's Lot were better: The vampire were scarier (minus Barlow). The scene were one of the Glick boys gets snagged in the woods. The scene were the vampire Glick shows up biting mommy's wrist...all good stuff.

It's about how vampires fight to survive in a worldwide zombie outbreak. It's not ALIEN VS. PREDATOR with vampires and zombies.

The vampires would quickly turn into bats-DUHHHHHHHH! Have you ever seen a zombie be able to catch a bat? NOOOOOOO! (Even if they COULD drive a car, which I doubt, because zombies do not have co-ordination OR response reflexes.) So okay, maybe at first it would be a fair fight but then the vampires would become organized and totally win. Dummmmmmb.
Does not this show promise for a remake?

But I just didn't like somebody saying that I'm dumb just because I have my own opinion. (Not you.) You can call a movie dumb because they're not real but don't call a person dumb, even if you don't know them!

Laugh it up, it's hilarious, isn't it? You know what else is hilarious? Tomorrow he'll still be a successful movie star, and you'll still be living in your mom's basement.

Not the Mila Jojovich disaster, but the british tv series with Jack Davenport. Only one series, 6 episodes but total class.

Or was it Moonglighter. Whatever the show was it got the axe. It wasn't bad for tv. The premise on vampires was somewhat different, but it as a decent show. This sounds like a freaky premise. Dracula et al protecting their food supply. I guess they can't suck on Bub because he disagrees with them? Or maybe to get nitpicky, even if Romero zombies do bleed, people don't bleed after they're dead.

I don't give a crap. If Christopher Lee is in a NEW bloodsucking movie involving the "passing of the Dracula torch", I'm SO there!
