I watched it with my grandma and mom when I was really young, but looking back and occasionally watching reruns, it was so intelligently written and the four actresses were fucking perfect for their roles. in that it was perfectly cast program. For the generation, who like me were born in the middle 1970's and grew up in the 1980's and 1990's, it was the first time we heard the names of legends like Bea Arthur , Betty white and Estelle Getty. Getty was the reason you wathched the show, her delivery was just great but it was her comic timing that outshone everyone. But they were all great. including Rue McClonnaghan who brought a kind of dramatic edge to the show. The golden Girls was perfect show, perfectly performed. Betty White was outstanding.

Her delivery and timing holds up with the best classic comedians, guys like Rickles, Youngman, and even the master himself, Rodney. Smart young comedians will study her work. Not a big fan of the The Quint. His post-death writings always come across as fake, phony, and very researched... No matter who it was, what they did, when they did it, what era... he's always got a 'connection' to them. It was playing in the background, I grew up watching them on TV...yeah yeah, bleah. Anyone who follows his rants knows that it would be virtually impossible for someone to have been this connected, if only because he's too young and half the TV shows weren't available (even on VHS!) when he was growing up. More like he goes to Wikipedia (what else?) and "remembers" what he "forgot". It always comes off as blatant pandering and just a sad, sad attempt to look cool. Its also fairly obvious you didn't grow up watching Get Smart (it's been off the air nearly 20 years) and I doubt you watched twelve TV shows at a time... Its OK not to know everything, hence his "Movie a Day" refresh. Just quit it, eh?
