I love seeing all these pricks that turn their nose up at Outlander's premise, but go balls-out crazy in love with a story where a wealthy businessman dresses up in a latex bat costume to fight a serial-killer clown and an insane burn-victim ex-DA. Hosting the trailer. Why hasn't anyone mentioned that?

We are simply awed by the beautiful trailer for this movie. It looks fantastic. The effects look fantastic. The Movie looks fantastic. Basically, we're nearly rendered speechless. We're also quite astounded by how beautiful the cinematography looks and how closely the shots match the concept art. I think We'll let the film do the talking. We are proud to bring you the International theatrical trailer for Outlander, Staring James Caviezel, Sophia Myles, and Jack Huston and featuring Ron Perlman and John Hurt!

Ok i have not seen this movie, looks alright though and the cast is good, another note on the cast, there is a guy in the movie, not sure if he can act, but he looks perfect for the role of Thor, his name is James Preston Rogers, there is a patition online to sign if people think he is worthy of Thor, i think everyone should check it out and make up there own opinion on it, i dont want some guy who cant act to play Thor, But man does he look the part, but who knows, maybe he can act:P

James Preston Rogers NOT Thor No No No
by pipergates
Jul 12th, 2008
02:27:35 PM
Thor is already a pretty cheesy concept in the comics, as opposed to the no holds barred ancient mythological tales of adventure bout the real Thor and Odin. They be full of battle, blood, strategy and wonder, and they sure dont wear no gay Marvel supersuits. Preston Rogers looks like he would make a totally cheesy Thor, worse than FF cheesy. Thor needs to be somebody like a young Dolph Lundgren, somebody who looks scandinavian, and hard in a real way, not just puffed up in the gym and with burgers. Viggo Mortensen if he'd been younger and a bit heftier. Mads Mikkelsen would be a charismatic choice.

I hate how a cool concept like Pathfinder is made into something so bad it almost kills a whole genre. The norwegian movie it was loosely based on had so much more heart and thought behind it. That doesnt mean the idea sucks though, this Outlander looks pretty decent. There's some good actors in this one. Dragon's a bit cheap mayhaps, but the vikings and the ambience looks great.

Looking through the comments, saw one or two things that should be straightened out. ONE - Ron Perlman NOT hard to work with. A pro and a gentleman. No ass was seen by anyone. TWO - Caviezel, the alien has to LEARN to speak the local tongue, doesn't just know it. THREE - there are NO dragons in the movie. Just a word Kainan's character uses to try to explain the big nasty he inadvertently brought to Earth. FOUR - the Moorwen looks cool. CGI good. (altho that's subjective) FIVE - unofficial trailer, which explains the stupid, stupid typo. SIX - the script was fucking awesome. I know. I wrote it. (I shit you not)

This is an exciting, imaginative, very cool film that is better than 90% of the stuff out there, and should be seen on the BIG SCREEN to be fully appreciated! From what I hear though, they are still searching for proper distribution and its theatrical fate lies in the balance. If you want to see it, you should let it be known.

Mr. Blackman co-wrote the screenplay with the director. I know I've been pushing for this film for for Nearly a year and half. It looks cool and even if it is "formulaic" the story is pretty out there and looks plain awesome. So, I take it the Weinsteins are playing chicken with this one? It doesn't make sense to me but it might be a good thing if Outlander can get shifted (very soon I hope) to a different studio with the balls to put it in theaters *and* actually promote it. For everyone's info, the weinsteins bought the distribution rights on spec back in 2005 (or was it 2004?) before the film was ever shot. Since then their distribution heads have changed and I don't think they liked what happened with Grindhouse much even if it was their own lack of promotion that probably killed it. AND outlander isn't just a sci-fi viking epic, it's a gory R-rated sci-fi viking epic.

Hey i admit i dont know much about James preston rogers, but what sold me on his look for Thor was the pic of him in Outlander, he has a big beard with braids and such in it, not cheesy looking at all, but again i have no idea if he can act, i am a huge fan of the Thor comics but also in norse mythos, its actually more than mythos to me as i am starting to research and firmly believe in Asatru, from what Harry says of the script and if you have read the comics latley, especially the moni series Ages of Thunder, Thor has come along way from his cheesy roots, oh and i also Hated both Fantastic four movies, except of course Doug Jones as Silver Surfer:P

Oh, what the hell. A little more debunking before dinner. Actually, Jim's character is not from the future. He is from an alien race who seeded our world millennia ago, hence the physical resemblance. He crash-lands on earth in the viking era, accidentally releasing an alien creature. (no dragons. promise) Mayhem ensues. The legend of Beowulf is born from sci-fi roots. The names have been changed to protect the innocent executives who weren't down with "Wigclif" or "Hrothgar"
Why is this plot a stretch?
by AntoniusBloc
Jul 13th, 2008
11:28:20 PM
At least I hope those critical are not the same comic book fanboys who inexplicably loved Hellboy...and what's the premise of that film? The son of the Devil is a secret agent and uses really big guns...and oh ya, he looks literally how any fundamentalist would describe, literally red, and with horns. The point is, if Outlander had originally been a comic book or graphic novel, the premise would not be questioned. Since when is aliens showing up in the past a stretch? I love also among the complaints that somehow a dragon from our world is more believable than an alien dragon. I would like the movie less if JC was from the future, since that type of time travel is even beyond science fiction with recent discoveries of the shape of our universe.

I love how you think Dir.. er, Echorock. I really do hope you guys sort out the distribution issues quickly.
