I swear the last 15 minutes of Iron Man was like watching a big budget remake of the final battle in Robocop 2. Anyhow, Nikki is right. He was an asshole. Anyone could have directed the same movie. The dude is no fucking visionary. Just a guy who got one movie right (Swingers) and got lucky on "Iron Man" with the inspired casting of RDJ. RDJ made that movie.

Just because a director butters you up at Comic Con and posts on his Myspace doesn't make it OK to overpraise his mediocre movie. It was good. But not the end all be all. You guys give shit to other directors who make "Good" movies. Yet with this guy bitching and complaining online you all think that was his only option? He is supposed to be a professional. Leaking contract negotiations online to Fanboys is a ridiculous thing to do. He's lucky Marvel didn't yell "Next" and hire Proyas or someone else who could have done an equal (if not better job). Look at the Harry Potter franchise. It is still lucrative 5 directors in.

Just because the fanbase was rabidly supportive of him is not Fav's fault. Maissel should take a lesson from Favreau and should have been more gentlemanly and accommodating. Anyway, it's time to move on so we can all look forward to IM2. And although there was some initial concern about the release date of IM2, Fav has since acknowledged that, because the casting, design, and CG technology has already been locked, getting IM2 ready for release date will not be an impossibility.

Hulk 2 will happen. Trust me. Marvel is a new studio. They need the cash flow to fund their ambitious production slate that leads to the eventual "Avengers" movie. Since Hulk has been established, and re-established with success, he isn't a huge priority right now. But don't be surprised to hear (after it's DVD release) that a sequel is moving forward with a 2010 date.

Anybody who doesn't think Favreau contributed mightily to the success of Iron Man (seriously, before the project was announced, did anybody think an Iron Man film would do $300 million in the US? That's Spider-man money.) is an idiot. He helped shape the script and cast the leads. It was funny when the film came out, so many critics begrudgingly liked it; they said if it weren't for the cast the movie wouldn't have been as good. Can't that be said about every movie? Casting is a vital part of the pre-production process you geniuses.

But I think the movie is more franchise friendly than Ang Lee's, even so. Thus we may well see a sequel, especially after DVD sales, rentals, HBO, etc. I don't think Incredible Hulk has quite lived up to its potential yet, but I think it will. And if Hellboy Golden Army outperforms the first one significantly, it will be a clear and present example of a sequel building business on the slow-burn growth of its predecessor.

First I agree with some posters this would be a cool concept for Iron man 2. Just one action scene where he finds Hulk... Fights Hulk and then makes Hulk his friend lol. As Mandarin goes I think they casted him already. In the first movie the terrorist leader who was holding Stark... Well lets think about this his organizations name was the ten rings. He is obsessed with power and betrayed by his other villain friend. He also in one scene rubs a huge ring on his hand. Watch the movie again I believe this guy will be Mandarin in Iron Man 2.

Let's face it, he took a B-list superhero that most regular folk never heard of and turned it into the #1 movie of the summer, so far. The combination of him and RDJ was perfect, and made the movie. I like his 'classic' style of directing, no shaky cam or constant zooming and panning... I fucking hate that shit. Also, minimal use of special effects. Didn't they make actual lifesize Ironman suit? Lucas would have CGIed the whole thing.

And had access to technology in Stark's suit. Makes sense. And honestly, I don't think they can really get away with a Chinese Mandarin with politics the way they are. Stark is a weapons manufacturer for US. Can't have him "going to war" with China. Beating up some "terrorist" in Afghanistan is "politically correct", but honestly, has anyone heard of a "Chinese terrorist" recently. Don't think it will fly. Iron Man vs. Hulk would be cool.

As far as Hulk goes, I think Leterrier was the obvious problem. It was laclustre. Just had the feeling that he didn't care, that Norton was holding back. So the thing is: the director is really important.

They can certainly do a Mandarin with him at the head of an internation terrorist organization. Have his origin include his family dying because of the Communists, which led him toward a life of terrorism against the Chinese. And then have it showing him growing. Hell, make him affiliated with a Hydra type organization, modernized like Shield. Also, include an alien ship with the rings or the stones for the rings.

the Real problem with the HULK was too many Genre films coming out to soon, each weekend there has been a new film to see (that combined with the fact that we KNOW that the movies will be out on DVD inside of 6 months) has put a damper on repeat business...Fans nolonger feel the need to see a movie more than once in a theatre....the studios need to spread the releases out a bit more....The Hulk was a good Film, my son and i saw it opening day and the minute it was over he told me that we had to buy it on DVD as soon as it was release as he wanted to see it again.....

Yeah, baby. Favs is back in his director's chair and all is as it should be. I hope he pulls together an absolutely rockin' second film. Can't wait.

As for "The Hulk," I just saw it last night and was surprised by how kickass and well-acted it was. I give Leterrier credit for his direction, and applaud Ed Norton for giving us a Bruce Banner we can care about. Even my girlfriend dug "The Hulk." And if you met her, you'd know that's saying a lot.

"Iron Man" and "The Hulk" were both quality, in my opinion, and I'm usually VERY skeptical of comic book films. Marvel is 2 for 2 so far.

But I am a "wait for the DVD" kind of person. Just not enough time in my life to sit in a theatre for what amounts to be close to 3 hours. Having said that I am DYING to see Iron Man, as it was the one book I bought religeously for most of my childhood. The sequal should be called War Machine, or Invincible Ironman. I hate simply numbering the series, and was one of the ones clamouring for Spiderman 2 to be Amazing Spiderman, etc. The next Batman movie is simply called The Dark Knight, not Batman 2: Dark Knight. And yes, Mandarin should show up and be central, if not shadowy, figure. With either Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man appearing in a cameo punching-bag role for action scenes.

the problem -box office wise- is that the studios release the movies all at once....they need to spread them put more. When they release movies back to back the box office numbers drop as it cuts down on repeat business- i am all for the # of films, but they coould be spread out a bit more.....And when the box office numbers arent there-ala HULK- the studios think twice about giving the Greenlight to a sequel

Hulk's rouge gallery is a bit weak for my liking, and Iron Man's villians are even less interesting to me. Norton vs Downey Jr. would be fucking sweet, but it might steal some thunder from Avengers.

X = negative money. X + Y = big money. Therefore: X - Y = even bigger money.

Because she was seriously hot in the first one. I know - I was totally surprised. I've never found her anything but annoying and plain. As long as someone else is writing the words she says, she's kind of a piece. And as for Faverau, good for him. He did a great job, he's a class guy, and he deserves a payday.
Favreau Deserves Respect

If Marvel Studios' first film had sucked, or been poorly received, it would put a stench all over the studio and a bad taste in fans' mouths. Favreau didn't just deliver a big opening weekend, or a moderate hit, he took a second-tier character and delivered a full-blown blockbuster that not only made three-quarters of a billion dollars, but rated something like 93% at Rotten Tomatoes.

Look at THE INCREDIBLE HULK's lukewarm reception. Imagine if the first Marvel Studios film performed that way. The fact is, Marvel should be kissing Fav's ass. His work on the film wasn't "visionary," but it *worked,* and to get a sense of how difficult that is, just look at all the crappy tentpole movies that litter our multiplexes every summer.

...and The Incredible Hulk is still my favorite movie of the summer. Don't get me wrong, TDK kicks all kinds of ass, but it lacks the sheer impact of Leterrier's Hulk. Those three action set pieces (the factory, the park, and the battle royale in NYC) are some of the greatest action moments that have ever graced the big screen. The acting is amazing all around. Can any of you honestly say you didn't fall in love with Liv's Betty Ross by the end of the movie? God, I fucking loved that movie. I walked out of the theater teary-eyed and covered in goosebumps. Seeing my favorite comic book character brought to the screen with such respect moved me like no other film has in ages. So I would die to see a sequel and there are so many brilliant possibilities (Tim Blake Nelson's kickass moment). And I piss on the idea of making Hulk a villain for Iron Man 2 or The Avengers. I'm sure it would be fun, but there wasn't one moment in Hulk where I wasn't genuinely concerned for Ed Norton's Banner. His rendition of the character generates far too much empathy to work as a villain. I fucking WANT my Incredible Hulk 2, and I will not stop posting hyperbole-filled rants until I get it!

Better than iron man actually. Cant anyone see how badly iron man is gonna age over time? it's not a classic, and what was up with terrence howard? his acting was shit. it was fun, but the ending was ho-hum. same-powered villain vs hero. Hulk was a lot more interesting and character driven (i don't understand people who complain that substance was sacrificed for action. even the hulk had character development in the cave scene). although it also did the same-powered villain vs hero fight. i understand theyre the villains from the comics, but still. But better than dark knight? I highly doubt that. Nolan is a god director. the nolan brothers can add so much layer on top of the usual big 'splosions and that seems to be what they did. Check out online reviews. Batman is gonna squash every other comic book hero.

There's no need to fact check this... You can tell I know what I'm talking about because of my use of only capital letters and the presence of eight exclamation points. I think he'll be AMAZING.

I'm leaving the country. After 30 years (10 of which i spent in our military) I've fucking had it. The general populace has been reduced to cynical, snobbish fucktards. *oh look at me! i'm unique! like a fucking snowflake!* I'd rather be poor and broken living on a mountain fucking sheep than in a room with you assholes. I wish the world would just fucking end and take all of us with it. I really do. You know you agree with me. If you don't you're just lying to yourself. You know we suck. We should die for what we've become. Lazy, depressed, smart-assed, cocksucking assholes that spill our bullshit thoughts all over the internet. But!!! as an induvidual we always think we're cool or original when we do it. Nobody can touch us. All I have to do is type. I can say anything I want here without fear of retribution. Its just a screen name, nobody knows me. I can get away with anything. Well fuck you! Fuck me! and fuck what we have become.
