And I only say that because I care nothing about Warhammer. It's really a selfish request, and I should try harder to be a better person.

The problem with Warhammer has been and always will be the cost of playing the game. Even though I enjoy miniature painting many people do not. Until GW comes out with pre-painted pieces and lowers the cost of their product, Warhammer will only be enjoyed by a small segment of the gaming community. This pic pretty much sums up the feeling many gamers have towards GW and WH-- http://www.llbbl.com/data/RPG- motivational/target271.html

These rule changes sound AWESOME & after years of razzing on plastic being inferior to metal I think i might pop into a GWshop for the first time in 11 years to oggle the details up close. Praise be for that blogspot link, good to hear that even GW admits White Dwarf mag turned into a pile of shit :D Keep up the good work Massawyrm!!

AoC, WHO, WH40kO, and miniatures!

AoC is not bad...been playing since release and the combat system is very innovative and a refreshing change to the standard Point&Click mmo interface. Warhammer I hope will be great because what I'm truly psyched for is Warhammer 40k Online. I know that from a storyline aspect, it's neigh impossible (everybody is a soldier and soldiers do what they're ordered to do...not run around doing quests and crafting shit)...but I don't care...we've come close a few times (DoW anyone?) but the notion of charging across a battlefield which shakes with the onslaught of massive Titans would make my head explode. Dawn of War is a brilliant game and if they upped the scale to what was originally called 'Epic 40k', then they'd be the de facto sci-fi RTS of all time (yes, better than Starcraft, much better in fact).

All that said, Massa...how bout some links to some of your craftsmanship with your armies? Do you paint or just elmer's up models for immediate play? For our band of ubergeek table-top players, painting and the round-tables that sprang from them, was as much fun as finally fielding that fully painted legion and crushing your enemies!

Massawyrm's review of D&D 4.0 was inaccurate...
by Leafar the Lost

Massawyrm's review of D&D 4.0 was inaccurate, because it is an entirely new game. They should have come up with a new name (like Dungeons & Drag-Queens), because this is not D&D. As far as Warhammer goes, I could care less...

We are going to start running a Harn campaign. The DM is a Chicago Cop, Iraq War Vet and his brilliantly sick mind runs an awesome campaign.

I'm digging both 4thED D&D and 5thED 40K. I've been playing 40K since 1987 & this new edition is really the best yet. And damn the boxset looks sweet. Thanx for all the game reviews, Mass!

and thats the way I like it. Your gay house rule is part of whats wrong with 40k today. I have to deal with idiots saying "thats how we play at my store" everytime I go to an event. The game is about winning, if you want to play "pretend" do it with your GI joes in the back of the store, quietly, while the adults talk. I hope 5th ed. cleans up the garbage that was 4th, but I see that true LOS is going to cause a host of problems. Heres hoping GW will pull their heads out of their ass and open a forum for offical answers, like the other companies do.

Nothing is more pathetic than a pack of geeks arguing over the rules of a role playing game. It makes me sick when I make my weekly stealth run for comics, parking around the corner and putting my ski mask on so I can slip into the local hobby shop so I won't be mistaken for one of the pathetic losers who actually go in there to debate the rules of D&D and Warhammer. I thought they invented World of Warcraft so you dorks didn't have to leave your nerd-caves anymore to get your role-playing fixes.

"Nothing is more pathetic than a pack of geeks arguing over the rules of a role playing game." Sure there is! "I make my weekly stealth run for comics, parking around the corner and putting my ski mask on so I can slip into the local hobby shop" Nerd Shame!

Self-loathing at the hobby shop....

Indeed! I usually carry tacks in my shoes to remind myself that when I'm on a geek movie site posting in various geek threads that I'm not really a geek or a nerd and am really one of the "cool people". I'm hip and chic, I wear expensive clothes, drive a cool expensive (and fast!) car, am independently welathy, and have at least 2 girls on each arm every moment of the day...and you know that's just plain COOL so no, I cannot have people I don't know thinking I'm a nerd! I'd just die if people thought of me as being a geek! Ohmigosh! Can you imagine? Strangers laughing at my nerdness! I'm actually above everybody here cause I'm not a nerd! If I was, I'd cry and cry....

And then I'd stab myself in the fuckin' head if I was filled with that much self-loathing as to be embarrassed for who I am. Face it jackass...getting all bully-boy-tough-guy at what you perceive as "nerds" is so 80's that IT IS pathetic. And multiply that by about 10,000 since you're on a god damn geek website in the first place. Chances are, modern nerds, with their open source philosophy and it's selectively close ties to Asian culture would kick your self-loathing ass up and down the street. Nothing more pathetic than someone who is embarrassed for his or herself and thus must pull a psych 101 transference of aggression towards others of the same character. When you get out of highschool...no one will give a shit about this stuff. So buck up little camper! You'll see!

Ok..so it was somewhat venomous...

I just can't take the sheer and overwhelming cool factor when someone says "Oh, those guys are playing Dungeons & Dragons, what a bunch of dorks!"...I mean think about it...how seriously badass are you when you make a statement like that? We're talking Rambo or DieHard badass there, freakin Green Beret badass dig?...you grow an inch or two in height alone for just saying something like that! You don't even need to bench weights or work out...just keep talking like a badass and poof, instant Billy Badass.

Oh and perhaps you should look up those aspects of '*selectively* close ties to Asian culture *adopted* by the Hacker culture...you've seen the Matrix...the Wachowskis came along years and years after this stuff was in place...open source, progenitors of the net (post DARPAnet)...seriously...look it up...hacking wasn't called 'Kung Fu' for nothing you know.

And what's with all the talk about cock? Especially sublime cocks?! Jesus! Who even brought that up? Now that is what is *really* weird and not in a good way either.

Ahhh yes...except...

I never thought of "Geekdom" as something laughable....or worthy of shame. Most people who overtly rag on people for being "geeks" usually have trouble counting past 20 without being totally naked. Go figure.

I can't wait for this version because I can now hide troops behind other troops, which I couldn't do before. So they'll have to mow down my 5pt gaunts before getting to my 25 pt genestealers!
