The Knight Rider movie did good? Seriously? That was a piece of crap if I ever did see one. So good Ratings has nothing to do with how good a show is... So stop canceling good shows with poor ratings!

Eleventh hour, if I remember corectly, is about a goverment scientist trying to correct evil goverment experiments gone wrong with a hot side kick.

I'm guessing its like a stand alone nonalien episode of the X-Files. Freaks and muties and such things every week.

Lots of potential, good character dynamics, and if you ever wanted to see Dr Zarkov in his own series, then you've got your wish. And the lead girl is way pretty. When can I see more, hmmm? Also, I was watching Buffy the other night, and I was thinking: SMG, honey, that career ain't looking no better - surely now is the time for a Buffy movie????

before investing anytime. I'm sick of getting into a new show and having it suddenly canceled. I tried watching shows from the start and that didn't save them, so maybe this will (somehow)

Also, there's no way I'm watching a show that was partially created by the "writers" of Transformers. That movie was like a gigantic billboard screaming "Stay away from our future projects!".

I will definetly be tuning into Fringe

and it blew dogs in the moonlight. Kubla_Khan must have seen a different show than me as his opinion is the exact opposite of mine. It took me 3 days to watch it as I kept fallig asleep. Wooden acting with NO chemistry between the leads. Horried "Special" effects, "twists" a blind deaf mute could see coming, and hey! since it's JJ Abrams there a "mystery" just for the sake of being one. Lance Reddick is wasted here. They make hime a hard SOB (like Sloan), and I'm sure they will try to eventually make him "good" (like Sloan). Even tho it sucks ass, I'm sure it will be a hit, so wake me when it's over. Yawn!

In "Fringe," the no-nonsense FBI woman has blonde hair, rather than red hair, and the know-it-all kook is a schizo old dude with an estranged son, rather than a cynical young dude with a missing sister, and the gruff but grudgingly respectful boss is a bald black guy, not a bald white guy, and there's a sinister one-armed woman lurking around, not a sinister one-armed man lurking around.

KillDozer, you're going to miss some good shows
by Big Jim
Jul 8th, 2008

Sadly the shows that get cancelled after only a handful of episodes (that aren't called Bionic Woman) rarely get released on DVD. So your only chance to see them is when they air. 1 (half) season of Journeyman is better than none. 6 episodes (or was it 8) of Raines is better than 0.

But I get where you are coming from. It can be frustrating to find a new favourite show only to tune in the next week and find yourself watching a rerun of L&O. Or see some crappy wedding prank show. Or be subjected to a news magazine program breaking the "news" of Paula Abdul sleeping with an AI contestant.

Thanks to my DVR I record the first few episodes of every new show that I think I might want to watch, excluding only those whose very existence offends me (ex. Moment of Truth). I watch the first few episodes and if I like it I keep watching. Those that don't click with me I drop. I would not have discovered Journeyman without this system. The promos did nothing for me but I recorded it anyway. I had 4 episodes recorded before I took the time to watch the first. Watched 3 episodes that day, the fourth the next, and watched episode 5 as it aired, and I almost never watch live tv anymore.

by Atomica
Jul 8th, 2008
11:58:00 AM
Kid Nation was awesome; My wife and i really enjoyed it and I thought it was the best reality show concept since Survivor. I know they had some legal heat with waivers and such because technically the kids were working by doing challenges, but Herc have you heard anything about a renewal for a second season? The viewership seems like it was fairly high. I saw casting notices for season 2 awhile ago but have heard nothing since. It'd be a shame for such an amazing show to not be allowed to continue.

Jul 8th, 2008
12:34:26 PM
It did start good...but then, yeah, confusion set in on show direction and then came the strike. It also suffered from some poor casting decisions. The lead was just not compelling enough. The villain, Starbuck, was so compelling she blew the lead off the screen whenever she appeared.

I saw the fringe and it was interesting though about half way through i expected FBI agents Mulder and Scully to show up. In fact, they would fit right in...in a Cameo appearance if they did it and the actors would do it. But overall, as far as creepy factor it misses a lot of the X-files background. The characters are very shallow, but perhaps with time, they'll develop. They've already set up stuff for background story. We'll see where it goes and how long they get to play considering Fox likes to pull the plug early on series.....
Bionic Woman was a mess
by TVguy4566
Jul 8th, 2008
02:15:53 PM
Anyone remember how they set up the main villian in the pilot and he was never heard from again. It would have been like having Darth Vader in that first 20 minutes in Star Wars and never show him again.

I never got that. They set up this big theme of this evil organization that is led by the designer of bionics technology and then abruptly switch to small scale capsulated episodes. It was almost like they were setting up major story arches and then were told that it would not allow new viewers to jump in, but all it did was lose then entire audience.
And Knight Rider will be an abomination
by TVguy4566
Jul 8th, 2008
02:19:00 PM
The only way this show will survive will be to make some minor changes like everything. Someone should tell show runners that just because the lead has a threesome or is a lesbian, it doesn't actually count as character development. Even geeks aren't going to fooled that a crap script is good with a little girl-on-girl or guy-on-girl-on-girl action.
Are those averages or peaks?
by supertoyslast
Jul 8th, 2008
02:29:15 PM
Because if those figures are averages, then NBC musta been pretty damn stupid to cancel Bionic Woman. But it should be noted that the new top brass at NBC are trying to take the network in a different direction these coming seasons by announcing schedules more than a year in advance. We'll see how long that strategy lasts in an industry where reacting quickly to the tastes of the public is all-important.

by bRoc

...was a steaming pile. The only defense of the show is, "but it was on TV when I was a kid. Remember?" Sorry, but the fact that you remember a TV show from your childhood does not make it good--chances are the only thing you truly liked about the show was the theme song. I defy anyone to make it through an entire episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, The A-Team or Knight Rider. Guess what? They suck.

I might just quit watching network tv. Everything I pick is canned, so either I have really bad taste or the damn Neilson viewers do. First there was Journeyman which I really dug and now New Amsterdam has been axed? I thought that show was great. I was enthralled as much as I was for Journeyman. I am sorry, but its a day late and a dollar short. Seems like a mediocre copy of a dozen good shows - trying to cram it all, badly, into one show - not an original thought or idea in whole pilot. And don't get me started on those really cheesy 3-d titles. Looks like a 12 year old with ancient copy of WordArt was let loose on it. Though I am holding out hope that those are placeholder graphics until they get real special effects in.

including the networks - so why bother? Because they already built the car? They already cashed Ford's cheques maybe?

The British Life on Mars was pretty cool - although I found the resolution a little disappointing, in the end.

Verhoven gave Total Recall (a film about life on Mars, coincidentally!) an excellent little PhilDickian twist at the end with "what if it really IS just all in your head??" - it's the kind of question that can potentially wreck your ending, no matter which way you answer it - and it takes BALLS to leave it unanswered.

If the American Life on Mars has writers who understand this delicate balance, then it could still work - unfortunately, it sounds like the writers don't understand DICK (pardon the pun)

Going by the movie, there's not even the slightest glimmer of hope that the series is going to be anything but a POS. KR and 90210 will join Bionic Woman on the scrap heap.

You know what else is disturbing? Even though the new season of 24 is set in D.C., we won't be rid of Morris!? Aaaghh!
